Great fun. Unlike many other water parks, it's indoors. It's fun for kids, and adults. Excellent staff and service.

Excellent service, a little crowed sometimes but great environment to workout, swim and take health classes. My husband and I did have some issues with our member wristband not working but all was sorted out. read more

I…read moredidn't expect us to end up here when my friends and I went out for a drive and ended up needing to navigate through Kangaroo poop and rocks with open-toed heels. La Trobe Wildlife Sanctuary is great for people who want a nice experience of Australian wildlife, but don't have the money to go deep into the outback. I fit the bill, and I genuinely really like this place! It is quiet, serene, and even better if you play the Jurassic Park theme song in your head while wandering through the pristine jungle-like reserve. Prepare to meet KANGAROOS! We saw some adorable kangaroos and silently watched them for a bit of time. Because the kangaroos aren't kept in cages or enclosures, the experience at this wildlife sanctuary is even better than an actual zoo! The kangaroos are free to roam - just be careful not to piss anything off! La Trobe Wildlife Sanctuary is a fantastic nature experience and I would definitely bring anyone here. In fact, it makes me quite jealous of students attending La Trobe University! They get easy access to a beautiful reserve!~

Over the past year, my child has not made significant progress and most of the time, even during the training sessions, which is only half and hour a week. The instructor did not dedicate enough time to my child. The former instructor left the centre ,then a new instructor was assigned to my child. The instructor was unable to establish even a friendly relationship with my child over last three sessions so when my child did not follow her instructions, she behaved inappropriately. My child would attend each session with tears and distress. The instructor ( Christy) even refused to greet nicely every time. I would not recommend this centre to my friends at all. Even though they charge 25$ for half and hour session, which is billed monthly in advance and they do not refund the amount under any circumstances.Despite this, they do not dedicate enough time in their work, which is disappointing.Teaching children under three years old requires patience and kindness, which unfortunately my child's instructor not only failed to provide a safe and welcoming environment to encourage him to learn swimming but also caused trauma to him.My child no longer wants to attend swimming lesson even at other centre.

There is a good variety of group fitness classes, with some modern ones like body barre and kettlebell. Occasionally there are meditation classes on a Friday night for a gold coin donation. There are plenty of family activities at this YMCA. Karate and gymnastics classes for kids, and gym and group fitness classes for the adults. All the personal trainers and staff are very friendly and learn all the customers names, a good community feel. Memberships here aren't the cheapest you will find, but I guess that's because there's not much competition around this area.

There's a café at the entrance that sells a variety of focaccias, salads, lasagna and pies. It's floor to ceiling windows overlook the wave pool, keeping a peaceful (and dry) atmosphere, without losing the feeling of being at the pool. There's also a little canteen inside the pool area that sells your regular fried food, lollies and ice creams. The center also has a gym upstairs (addition costs), two family change rooms, spa & sauna (additional cost), a warm wading pool, wave pool, kids pool, baby pool and outdoor pool. It also offers excellent disability services. Personally I try to only come during the morning, because the afternoon holds a lot of kids classes which take up all lanes except one (which makes it very difficult and squishy for the casuals like me). I also prefer the morning because well...its probably in my mind, but I swear the water is yellower and saltier the later it is in the day. I mean the water isn't crystal clear to begin with (so much chlorine you can only see 5-10m in front of you), but at least it's not murky...yet. If you're grossed out, the outdoor 50m pool has lovely water and you can see over 20m in front of you, but the hours are limited throughout the winter months. I still enjoy coming here, as it feels big and modern, and doesn't have that stuffy feeling that most little places have.

The café is quite large and offers the usual burgers, chicken, wraps, and fish meals. The cafe is expensive. I ordered the fish, which came with tarter and ketchup. It was bland without the sauces. Mind you, as an aquarium it is actually pretty big, though I'm not sure if I could consider it the biggest, even in Australia. So if you want to find out if this is the sport for you, give it a go, it would not affect your budget. It only costs $15 per person, per hour but the price includes the use of equipment that is supplied to you on the day when you attend. It's a family business operated by mother 'Irene' and her son 'Luke' who are both exceptionally skilled and professional shooters. The venue has limited free parking spaces available and the range is an 18-metre indoor range. We were greeted by both Irene and Luke, they handed us the 'safety rules' sheet for us to read that you must follow before doing archery and then they explained the rules to you verbally to be sure you understood it clearly. They are very strict on their safety rules, so everybody can enjoy their time and leave the range without any injuries. You then need to sign-in when you start the and sign-out when leaving. We were handed arm guards and finger guards for your protection, asked whether you're a right-handed or left-handed person and selected the appropriate bow for your body size. We each received six arrows and were instructed that our feet must not go over the yellow lines. They showed us how to place the arrow properly on the bow, how to aim and then shoot when ready. Once you shot all arrows, you must wait until everybody has before it is clear to collect your arrows and do it all again until your hour is up. I was pretty amazed with myself, I did manage to hit the bullseye many times! And then to make it fun and entertaining, Irene added a balloon on the target for us to hit. It was hard but I managed. I enjoyed my experience of archery so much, that I ended up going there another two more times - I was only a visitor in Melbourne. My second visit, my target was moved further away, I'm guessing because I needed more of a challenge and on my third visit, my target was at the end of the room. Very thrilling and self-satisfying indeed. They have bathroom facilities, café and if you're keen and serious about archery, you can shop for your basic archery needs there as well. Suitable for ages 8 years+.

Unfortunately it did not quite live up to expectations. The most significant problems this climbing facility faces is a lack of proper air-conditioning, ceiling exhaust fans, change rooms greater than room for 1 and lockers. The humidity and heat make the climbing that much harder because you slip off the crimpy little holds purely due to sweat. We had to use that much chalk it probably felt like it was snowing on those below belaying. The climbs themselves are actually pretty good. Some really challenging climbs that require some thought and decent balance. The climbs are also quite high and there are decent inclines on a few with a few cracks to boot. With a couple of automated climbs and lead climbs it has everything you need but ultimately the Nunadwading hardrock is much better

Im impressed that there is a large staff presence - as there seem to be a lot of beginners and first time climbers around, so the staff presence is very reassuring. The city location makes it a nice sociable place - as do the couches. The baths accross the road also work well with it (after climbing, being submerged in water is good for your sore muscles). The place opens at noon - which is the major drawcard! I think that Cliffhanger at Altona is a better place to climb for numerous reasons, but the fact that this one is open from noon is a real plus! (Cliffhanger opens at 4pm). Now for the annoyances: Parking: this place is impossible for you want free parking. And its a tad annoying to have to go in on the train in your climbing/gym clothes. There are small change rooms, but its still annoying. Its a bit more expensive than Altona too. There are a lot of people in here and you have to wait for the ropes at times - but thats really a minor issue, not a major one. All in all, its a good place and Im looking forward to going back!
