Well, if you want the WORST most incompetent accountant, then use Leslie Witt and her husband,…read moreBill!!! Where to start...On my 2020 taxes, she missed a HUGE write off (my store lease payments!!! Nearly $50,000!!!) and filed the taxes before I reviewed them; I got a $26,000 tax bill. I was then able to go through them and found HER mistake and I got my tax bill reduced to $11,000, I DID ALL THE WORK TO ACCOMPLISH THIS, she did NOTHING!!!! She then charged me in excess of $1200 for doing the taxes a second time BECAUSE OF HER MISTAKE!!! I had fallen on bad times and had not filed 4 years of taxes; she told me that the additional $1200 was to file those 4 years taxes, come to find out A FULL YEAR LATER, she NEVER filed 2 of those tax years! So now, I have the IRS up my ass. Then she charged me $75 to make 1 copy of my 2020 taxes...$75, after she completely screwed up my taxes! Now, because I am changing accountants, she sends these petty, childish emails to me. BTW, I only used her for 1 year!!! And THIS is how bad she screwed my taxes and accounting up! Her husband, oh where to begin!!! He is arrogant, just an ego on legs and who ever would trust him with any legal issue with the IRS would have to be an idiot! Also, YOUR INFORMATION IS NOT SAFE WITH THESE PEOPLE!!! The one time I did go to her office, there were client files, open, all over the desks, ANYONE could steal your info. She will send you to collections BEFORE sending you out a bill!! I just received a "past due" notice (for that $75) last week, I NEVER SAW AN INVOICE BEFORE LAST WEEK!!! And she threatens to send you to collections. I mailed her the check via certified mail so when she does report me, I can sue her and prove I sent it. JUST DO NOT TRUST THESE PEOPLE! They are both nasty, arrogant, self-centered people and could care less about you or your taxes ALL they are concerned with is how much they can bill you, then, send you to collections so they can add a whole bunch of fees on. DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE, YOU WILL BE VERY, VERY SORRY!!! I know I am. The MOST incompetent people I have EVER met. And now, they won't send my information or files over to my new accountant, so there's a lawsuit. Save yourself, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!

A & S Accounting

A & S Accounting

I worked with A&S Accounting for nearly two decades because they were absolutely the best…read moreaccountants I ever had. One business that was very successful for a number of years, and a second business, a consumer product I bankrupted myself bringing to market. What's particularly telling about Ilene and Buzz was how well they took care of me as my world was swirling down the black abyss. My bill with them became severely late and several thousand dollars behind and despite that, they were absolutely there to help me. Smart, hard working, and the one time Ilene suggested we relook at taxes from accountants past netted me an over $10K refund I didn't expect. I had 3 previous accountants and CPAs, but no one was better than A&S Accounting.

I overheard one employee speaking to a client in a horrific, dismissive way. When I piped up with an alternative solution for the employee's "no can do" attitude, the vitriol was turned to me. This behavior was neither professional nor accommodating, two of the things that one might hope for when the A & S employee's role is that of a fiduciary. This was not my first encounter with her, either. In the past, I summed up her approach as prickly and begrudging, but ongoing difficulties with communication and service have shifted my opinion to that of incompetent and rude. Caveat emptor. I am very sorry that their principal, Ilene Anderton, passed away in 2020. She, by all accounts, was a well-respected and professional person. I don't know who is running the show now, but there are some serious loose ends. Avoid, avoid, avoid.

I've had a really good experience with LongStreet as a remote owner. They have clear processes,…read morethey stick to them, and they actually do what they say they'll do. My manager is great on follow-through, it's been solid, so I feel like I can trust them to handle issues without me needing to be local. Their pricing feels fair for the level of service and peace of mind I'm getting, especially with them keeping the place well maintained and compliant.

The heat pump went out during winter and they could not get it fixed right away so they brought out oil based heaters and got the heat pump replaced the following week which is impressive given it was the heart of winter. There was one issue with the toilet where the maintenance person came to fix it but didn't so I bought the parts and fixed it. They reimbursed me promptly for the parts. Yard care is provided with our lease and those people come religiously to take care of the yard like they come rain or shine. Preventative care - air filters, smoke detectors, etc. are cyclic and they provide ample time to work with us on entering the residence. Minor annoyance - annual inspection where they come in and film the rental. The good news is if they find anything broken they take care of it. We had a door seal that was iffy but they swapped it out anyways. Only grip is the rent will go up year after year. Irregardless of the housing market in the area. Like in our area 3bd 2ba go for 2,490.00 with more amenities. For reference: Our first year rent was $2,395.00; Second year $2,450.00; and, Third year $2,525.00. Is the $130 a month big deal - meh, just be forewarned the rent will go up. As long as, renters are aware this isn't a long-term rental company you'll be fine. I'm sure the property owners like the added revenue and I'm not sure why stability of occupancy isn't high on the list. Maybe Corvallis has to many migrants so it doesn't matter - who knows! Would I recommend them to friends and family - Only if they needed to stay a year or two. We will probably move next year because of repeat increases.

Tl;DR: Use these people, they're awesome…read more In the beginning, there was a W2 for 5,000 hard earned dollars bagging groceries, my father's laughter at my ineptitude at making any money, and the beloved annual date with a nice young thing called the 1040EZ. Things were simple. I was broke. She knew I was broke. I knew she knew I was broke, but it didn't matter. She hung by. Along came better jobs. With those jobs? I got introduced through a friend to the standard 1040. While I'll spare you the cold hearted breakup story of the previous tax form, I'll just say things were still good. I had very few write offs. I still rented. I paid a few capital gains here and there, but I bought and held all 4 of my shares in homegrocer.com...that is until they and their freshly delivered vegetables rotted on NASDAQ. TurboTax to the rescue! Just answer a lot of questions (Still not blind or dead, although for the write deduction I just might be....)....and WHAMO, back to life. It wasn't simple, but it worked. Sine then however, things have gotten...complicated. That damned hussy of a tax form knows I've got some cash to throw around. A rental. A refinance. an actual spouse. Heck, we just had a kid. daycare write offs, mileage expenses. tools. stock losses. stock gains. Time. This all takes a lot of time. On top of that, the more things I had to calculate, the more turbo tax wanted to charge me. State forms. write off forms. Accountant review...I'm getting a headache just writing this. I didn't have a clue if I was actually doing things correctly, as can be evidenced by my expected letter right around June informing me I still owed the government cash. After discussing it for a few days, I asked around and found this wonderful accountant. She Listened to me miss-name virtually everything I said I had. She giggled, told me to provide a host of documents, and off we went. That was 4 years ago. We don't even live in Corvallis anymore, but we'll be damned if we go anywhere else. We use dropbox, e-mail, a couple of phone calls, and do just about everything over the phone. This company knows how to treat a customer, work around our busy schedules, and keeps my relationship with our tax forms from ruining our impacting our relationships with each other every year. No, she's not the least expensive person out there, but in this case, you really do get what you pay for. Go here, you won't regret it.
