It is the largest credit union in the state with locations throughout NM and El Paso, Texas which is the largest city next to Las Cruces. The Sonoma Branch location is new and convenient location for us. Their branches are never too busy, their staff is very personal and friendly and they have good complementary coffee that I like.

That is the only reason this is not a pure 1 star review bomb. I am sick and tired of selfishness and dishonesty, and dishonesty was what I experienced. 'We're having a problem with the computer'. No they weren't, they were waiting for middle management to approve of an anomaly in my records. I use a Registered Agent to handle my business forms with the State. I use them as my address so they will receive all mail. Most of it is junkmail anyway, and the main reason is because here in Las Cruces I have experienced mail theft on average once a month for the last year. So would you use your home address to start your new business, knowing that important mail could be missing every month because of all the theft? But if it was just that, fine. But this was an example of the greed of banks and the 'Err on the side of caution' ethos that America has taken, at the cost of being good to your customers. As you're sitting in their office, look at the photos on the wall. Note they have taken care to show off their custom aesthetic. But look deeper, those stone columns are just a veneer, they aren't real stone. It's a nice veneer, but that is what it is. It's not a bank to serve the community, it is another soulless notch in everything that is going wrong in America. The person denying me also didn't seem to know that you get your EIN AFTER you file your business with the State. I have since reached out to my Registered Agent and they explained to me this is not uncommon, but that it is perfectly fine. So tldr; they made a judgment call to 'Err on the side of caution' instead of helping me get my business started, and all they needed to do was the bare minimum. But for a soulless corporation, that's apparently too much now. I'm also upset that in the roughly 2 hours of my time they wasted, they also ran my credit.

Since 2023, I've found Charles Schwab to be a very good firm for savings and investment tools and fees, with excellent communications and responsiveness at all times. I'm especially happy with the independent Schwab branch in Las Cruces. The Las Cruces branch personnel provide expert skills and support. After evaluating my needs with branch leader Jackie Michael Edwards, I now meet with branch consultant Danielle Evans. Ms. Evans is an astute listener as well as explainer, patient and thorough when I need help understanding choices and forms. I trust her to care about my interests and help me think clearly about my opportunities. I also appreciate the best front desk support (Stella) I've experienced so far in my dealings with any investment branch.
