There are a handful of and nice restaurants, taverns, coffee shops, unique stores. Personally recommended: Nitty Gritty Restaurant, Beans & Cream Coffee Shop. JJ Sewing Shop. JJ Stitches Quilt Shop. Security cameras around the inside/outside of the property. Breakfast had a dedicated person assigned to oversee things (***BRAVO***), not just the cook who is asigned 2 jobs (oversight, and food prep)! The housekeeping staff in the hallways were friendly. There was a reasonable level of cleanliness throughout the building. Building itself was well maintained, minus one point (see NEAS). The beds are very comfortable. OKAYS: Front staff were professional, efficient, and business-like in transactions but could have been more friendly and welcoming at check-in. Room was comfortable and reasonably clean (room edges could use some attention). We were greeted most of the time as we came and went past the front desk during our stay. A second TV in the breakfast room would make viewing easier from some locations (First-World issues!). A Kwik Trip is located just a couple of (walkable) blocks away. NEAS: The pool felt like a "fishbowl," with anyone accessing the lobby able to see in. No elevator. The breakfast room was clean but lackluster and overly utilitarian in appearance and feel. The middle of the hallway in front of Rm 221 is giving way; not visible, but you can feel it. The toilet/Tub/Shower room is small. Doorswing would hit one at the knees if sitting on the commode; and only clears the tub edge by a foot or so. The air system filters were dirty. VERY NEA: The hotel has chosen to include a Room Safe Fee. IMHO, this is a "junk fee" being used by locations as a free revenue stream that allows them to advertise and artificially appear cheaper per night than competing locations. The corporate level explanation is that "half of our guests like it / half do not." From personal experience, I have seen this ONLY in a couple of 5-star locations. I mostly see it in 2 and 2.5-star locations. Like others doing this, this fee is NOT reflected in online advertisement pricing; you only find out about it at check-in and can only get it removed by specifically asking for it to be removed by visiting the front desk upon check-out.

It was quite which was a huge plus for me. It seems to be well maintained. My only concern was how expensive the room was. It was around 250.00 for one night. I don't travel a lot but it seems a bit steep for what we got. It was especially problematic for my wife and I when we looked up on their website that their rooms are stated at 99 or $89 apiece. Yet when we talked to the front desk personnel, they said that that was an average price even though that's not what the website says . I don't know, maybe I'll have to contact corporate. There aren't many places to eat close by minus one sports bar across the street.

My mom and I were seeing Kathy Griffin on Sunday night and since we're from Illinois we decided we…read moreshould stay over instead of driving back. Originally it was great. They were very accommodating when I asked for a room close to the elevator due to my mom's mobility issues. The room overall was pretty nice. There are a couple issues. Number one I feel like it's pretty standard to have a microwave in a hotel room these days. I've stayed in rooms that cost less that have them. So that was issue number one. Number two I feel like no matter if it's a handicapped room or not, which ours was not, there should be some kind of Aid or bar or something to get up off the toilet. Which there was not. There's plenty of room for it as you'll see in my pictures. I also think it's kind of cheap not to do a complimentary breakfast , when you're charging over $100 a night for a room . Also especially when you have a Starbucks in the lobby , we kind of know you can afford to offer breakfast. I'm just being honest. My main issue, involves something to do with Sanitation. Which is why they are only getting three stars. I mentioned the fact that there are not microwaves in the room. I will give them credit they do have a good amount of options in their little market downstairs. They offer several options to microwave in their communal microwave. But herein lies the problem. There is nothing to microwave those items on. There are no plates, napkins or paper towels to place your items on. So you are placing every item directly on the plate of the microwave. That's a safety issue. I was not okay with that. As far as the room itself, it was nice. The beds were comfortable enough. There's a nice size closet. The TV was nice and I did like that they have the option for most streaming services. But I just cannot get past that sanitation issue. It's a great place to stay and pretty affordable, but just keep in mind what I said.

Single bay elevators in a couple locations in the hotel. While I didn't run into any congestion, I can see it happening on a busy day. The room itself was standard courtyard. We liked the convenient location that…read moreoffered free parking, an easy 10 min drive to downtown Madison, and close to stores, a mall, and gas stations, which made things easy during our stay. The room was spacious, almost like having a small living area of its own, and the hot tub was a nice way to relax after a busy day. Coffee at breakfast was decent, too. Unfortunately, we struggled to get comfortable overall. The room had a funky smell, and the bedding felt very worn with thin sheets, flat pillows, and a bed that left both of us with sore necks and backs (and we're only in our mid-30s). The room was also too bright at night, with light coming in from outside and no way to fully block it out. Breakfast options weren't great. It was disappointing that we couldn't log into Netflix or any streaming apps on the TV during our evenings. Cell service (AT&T) was poor, and the Wi-Fi was unreliable, so watching anything beyond local channels or getting work done wasn't really possible. Overall, it was decent for a quick stay, but for the price, we didn't feel it offered good value and probably wouldn't return.

I recently stayed overnight and it was ok. There was nothing particularly wrong with my stay but…read morethe property is kinda rundown. I checked in around 10-10:30 pm and it went pretty smoothly. The clerk wasn't very friendly but also wasn't rude. Just the weird neutral gen whatever attitude. I'm sure he didn't want to be there. The room was on the top floor but throughout the hotel, you could tell there was an obvious problem with water damage. Our floors hallway as well as several other floors hallways had fans set up directed at the carpet. The carpet itself was bunched up in the middle. So it wasn't a good impression. The room itself was decent. The bathroom was good sized and had everything I needed. The room itself was good sized and the bed was relatively comfortable. Everything seemed clean but there was still some dust. You could also see obvious signs of water damage on the ceiling near the windows. My only other concern is that it appeared that someone was using our room to camp out in. When we arrived the lights were on in the room and the tv was on and playing Jaws. I thought it was pretty odd because usually everything is turned off. Check out was smooth and met with the same unenthusiastic attitude by another clerk. For one night in a king room I paid a total of $114.11. Price was decent for the room. They do allow pets so I'm sure that's part of the reason why it's a bit run down. I would maybe stay here in the future. I'd probably see if there was a different holiday inn nearby before I'd stay here. And if it was for more than a night, probably not. For a night stay, it's fine. They definitely need to fix the water issue though.

The breakfast here was the best I've had in a hotel other than In Dubai. Hats off to the cooks in the back. You're knocking it out of the park. Came to the room earlier and the maids were in the hallway happy smiling and polite. One of the hardest jobs in the planet. One has an arm full of bedding the other grabbing supplies for the room and they're moving telling me go in sir. No ma'am you've got 20lbs of laundry please go. So nice and friendly. Came here for a quick Gin & Tonic and bam, another awesome professional polite bartender. The staff that works the Lobby are great also. The Ambience is as it should be at a Holiday Inn. Warm welcoming and calm. This is also while dealing with wrestling state championships and kids all over. Way to go Holiday inn you are showing how to run a polite professional establishment.Top to bottom left to right . Can't say enough about my great experience here. Will definitely bring the family and have a weekend trip here just because of the amazing hospitality. I highly recommend giving the entire staff a raise especially seeing them work so hard this weekend with the expanded patronage.
