My family and I took a lunch time charter out with Captain Bill and had a great time. We caught our Daily limit while being educated with Bills knowledge of the lake/surrounding area and received a great visual tour of the sand dunes on our journey out to the fishing spot! Bill did an awesome job of prepping and cutting filets out of the days catch so we were ready to cook that evening and enjoy the cookout with our friends and family once we returned home! I highly recommend and will definitely be back next year on our vacation!

Our party of three had a great morning on the water yesterday with Captain Bill! We met on the Glen Arbor dock at the bottom of Lake St at 5:30am, in the dark. While motoring out along the lakeshore past the Sleeping Bear Dunes we watched the sunrise and a giant orange moon drop. Once at our destination Captain Bill quickly rigged the lines all along the back and sides of the boat for Trout and Salmon. Within minutes we had a trout on the line! Our 13 year old son reeled the fish in under Captain Bill's guidance. It's was a cold morning and cold water so The Captain wasn't sure we would get any salmon in that water. After catching 8 trout, Captain Bill took us back toward the dock and warmer water where he had a hunch we would find the salmon and sure enough within minutes we brought in an 11lbs salmon. Then we circled back and got 2 salmon on lines at the same time! My husband took one and I took the other while Captain Bill maneuvered the boat and told us how to keep the fish on the lines. Unfortunately, my husband's got away - it was a huge fish with a lot of fight. Luckily, I was able to reel my 14 pounder into the boat. By the end of the trip we were all very excited and satisfied with our haul! Captain Bill clearly has a passion and knowledge for fishing as his expertise helped us to find the fish and he clearly got as excited about a bite as we did! We would highly recommend Wattabite to anyone looking for a great family fishing experience on Lake Michigan!!

Captain Bill is a master at his craft. The lake was calm when we started. He knew exactly where to go to catch fish. Other charters were radioing him to ask depths and locations of the fish. Not sure how they did with here guests. We had a spectacular time. If you want to charter a boat, go with Captain Bill. He is great with instructions on what to do and how to reel in the big fish. My husband and my father have been out fishing with Captain Bill numerous times, and have always returned home with glowing reviews for Captain Bill's expertise at finding all the right fishing spots. So I finally joined them today for a fishing trip, and I'm glad I did! Altogether, we landed FOURTEEN salmon and trout in just a few hours. Amazing morning. After a sunrise journey from Glen Arbor to the west of South Manitou Island, Captain Bill found the perfect location for both king salmon and lake trout. This was an exciting morning for both grandparents and grandkids, especially when two salmon struck at the same moment. Yes, it's an expense (although the rates seem very reasonable compared to others), but we now have wonderful memories--along with many pounds of fish to enjoy and share with others. My family and I took a lunch time charter out with Captain Bill and had a great time. I'm not the fishing type but I had a great time on the trip with my family. Captain Bill was very knowledgeable and friendly, and you could tell that he loves to do this. Great trip for afternoon fishing. First couple hours were slow, but then Capt. Bill found the sweet spot just outside the bay. The rest of the trip was busy reeling them in. We all (three of us) caught our limit minus one fish. One 9 pound Lake Trout caught plus others. We had lots of fun after we got rid of our bananas. Thanks Capt. Bill! read more

Not informed ahead of time, but do not allow fishing from their boats. Boat listed very hard to our right the entire day and a check engine oil light came on shortly after we launched. Owner knew the boat was damaged and admitted it was recently repaired. No reparations were given to us, just told he resented being told this issue was known to him (stated so himself and pointed out the damage to the pontoon where it was repaired). Would not recommend this rental company when so many others are available in the area and take good care of their boats.

Came to kayak the Crystal River…read more We rented a tandem kayak and a single sit on top kayak. It was roughly 109. They do military discount so it was cheaper to come in store than book online. It was very easy coming in and renting. Minimal paperwork and then you go wait for the van to take you to the start. The van was a 5-8 min ride to the start of the river. You go in the van with the other groups who are going. Heads up there is poison ivy where they park the van. But they tell you where and to avoid it. All the staff were very good at telling us things we needed to do and look for on our trip. But incase you got curious little ones, maybe keep them close til they get on the kayak to avoid any poison ivy. We started at 1040 and ended at 1310. So roughly 2.5 hours it took us. They do let 12 and up rent their own kayak I believe or it's 13 and up. I'm glad we did a tandem kayak for my 12 year old daughter. She would have got her self stuck alot with the trees in the river haha. If your child isn't experienced in kayaking I'd do a tandem so you can help them navigate around the trees. There's a lot of fallen trees in the river. But nothing you can't navigate around. I won't lie I did get stuck twice haha. We brought a cooler and a dry bag and they fit on my kayak. It was very fun. We had great weather it was a little cloudy but we preferred that then get beat down with the sun for 2.5 hours. We would definitely come back again!

Captain Bill showed us a great morning on the lake! My husband and I were excited to take our 10,8&6 year old kids on their first fishing adventure and we were NOT disappointed! Captain Bill was prompt, professional and extremely kind and patient with our young kids. He knew exactly where to go and how to reel in fish very quickly! What an awesome day!!! Captain Bill got us on the fish early and kept us on them until we limited out on lakers in about 2.5 hours! Everybody had a wonderful time and my dad even caught a 16 pounder! We caught several lake trout on an August afternoon and Bill brought in a boat full of king salmon earlier that morning. Captain Bill was great! We caught our limit in less than 3 hours. The trout ranged in size from 16.5 lbs to probably 6 lbs. We got 12 trout and most were over 10 lbs.
