The quality of the safety presentation, maps of the lake and connected water ways, also explaining about all the features of the boat. Making sure that we would have a fun and safe experience on the water. Also an explanation of the no go zones, for our safety. Safety texts about possible weather changes and conditions on the lake, with plenty of time to change course, or button down everything. First class all the way. The boats were very new, up kept, clean, powerful, and a blast to pilot. All of the staff was AWESOME, polite, informative, & very helpful. Loading and unloading our gear, coolers, etc from our car in the parking lot directly to boat, and a complimentary cooler filled up with ice. I would not hesitate to use them again. Much better than our NY boat rental experiences. We had such a wonderful experience that we looked into renting again later in the week. Good customer service is hard to find. Great customer service is very rare. This company goes WAY BEYOND GREAT!!!!! Would absolutely recommend this company to anyone looking to have a great experience on the water. A 300hp Tri-Tune that's basically brand new, can be loaded with people, pulling a 3 person tube on the water all day long. Luckily in that half hour of waiting to see or hear from ultimate charter, we were able to get all the info of the other charter in town. We called a few times prior to booking wth questions, everyone was helpful and friendly. The place was easy to find and we were checked in, paid up and on the water quickly. Instructions for driving the boat and navigating the waterways were thorough. The boat was brand new, nice and clean! Better than some rentals for sure. The best part was that there was some rain in the forecast so they kept our phone number handy and contacted us when the radar started to show inclement weather. Going to one, or both, of the Manitou Islands has been on my bucket list for awhile now and thanks…read moreto this here ferry company I can cross South Manitou off the list. It's about an hour and twenty minutes each way and they leave right on time so don't dawdle! I wasn't sure this day trip would even happen as I didn't reserve in advance. I took a late Sunday to late Wednesday trip Up North and most of that last Wednesday was tied up in the glorious Manitou excursion. I would have preferred to have done in Tuesday but due to staffing issues there was no trips on that Tuesday or Thursday. For some reason their website wouldn't let me complete the reservation process when I tried earlier in the week and my phone call went unanswered as well. Not sure about the website but the telephone I'd likely chalk up to the same staffing issues. With some fussy Yelpers that'd be a bullet train to One Star Land but this trip was spur of the moment and roll with it and you know what? Everything worked out. I rolled up into Leland, MI with maybe 15 minutes to spare, paid in cash and secured a last minute spot. I missed out on sitting for the duration of the trip, unless I wanted to pop a squat on the deck, which I did here and there, but I also got to flout the Covid mask rules, being out in the open breathing in the lake air. There's a cool lighthouse warning against a shoal in the middle of Lake Michigan and the boat got pretty close with the captain giving us some interesting facts about it over the loudspeaker. His voice sounded kind of Eric Wareheim which I liked. The water wasn't too choppy at all. It was a pretty smooth ride both ways, and great for picture taking. I'll save my observations about the island itself for my review of Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore as both Manitou islands are part of the park and this boat service just makes sure people get there and back. They did a great job of that. Don't bother with their gift shop, though. You can find much better prices on Manitou Island merchandise over in Traverse City, which you'll probably want to go to anyway. Hoodies were half the price in some shop downtown there, practically at t-shirt prices. I didn't buy anything there, but I did wanna go back, especially after seeing the gift shop here, but I had to work the next morning and needed to start moving downstate. (I wanted one more epic Lake Michigan sunset and drive over M-22 so I skipped the quicker I-75 route.) I already want to go back to South Manitou on a camping expedition and then maybe graduate to the more rugged North Manitou Island so hopefully one day I can bang out an update here.

This establishment was close to…read moreour camp ground and had amazing reviews so we booked a pontoon from noon-7pm. $550.00 for one pontoon. Half of the money was due to book and the remaining amount due the day of. I appreciated that the company stayed in great communication with us before, during and after our trip. When we arrived we were greeted kindly by Nils. He asked us to off load our gear and we parked our vehicle across the street. He had a trolley that we packed full of coolers and beach bags to tote down to the dock. There were steps with handrail down to the dock to our pontoon. Nils helped get our gear down and his father helped us get our gear up the stairs when we came back. Super helpful! Before I headed down I needed to use the restroom and they had a outdoor outhouse that was more like a luxury toilet. Sink with water, a toilet that flushed built with beautiful cedar and stocked full of feminine products, paper towels, toilet paper, and it was VERY clean. When we boarded the pontoon Nils reviewed the operators instructions in details and the expectations of using the equipment with proper safety. They provided physical laminated sheets that also had a QR code with information on boater safety, and the map of the lake. We were given a full tank of gas. We were told any fuel we used they would replace for a few, they would dispose of the garbage, and our bottles. The boat with outfitted with a trash bin and a bottle bin for access. He asked when we come back to notify him 10 minutes in advance and he meet us at the dock, jumped into the water, came out to our boat and docked it for us. Excellent customer service. 10 out of 10! Highly recommend.

Rented a Pontoon from MK Marine for a day on Torch Lake. Had a positive experience with MK Marine…read moreoverall. Would rent from them again. The great: the Pontoon we rented was new and pristine, the staff was very helpful and courteous, the setup they have is nice (they put the boat in the river for you, they bring the boat to your car after to unload, they have a nice changing room, bathroom was good, etc.). The not so good (as it relates to your experience as a boater): going through the Torch River to get to the lake itself. For experienced folks this probably is not a big deal but for beginners (like myself) it was white knuckle in and out with some narrow spots and traffic. If you knick the prop you have to buy them a new one. I was so nervous and didn't want to knick it I had it up higher than most. This makes the boat harder to steer and makes the river that much harder to navigate. They should consider offering prop insurance prior and that way you boat stress free! Once you get on Torch this is a non issue because the lake is huge and you can see the shallow spots with ease. Side Note: when coming back you'll have to u turn to dock and get gas from MK on the river (if you need some). Watch out for a sunken dock/bridge/rock hazard next to the dock on left prior to your u turn! Only a white floating log marks this treachery and you won't know it is to be avoided until almost the last minute.

The boat launch process was quick and easy with their help, as well as recovering the boat at the end of our rental. The lake was gorgeous and the weather was perfect. If you are looking to rent a boat for exploring the lake, M&K is the place to go! I'd like to come back to Torch, and when I do, I will definitely be renting from here again!
