The folks at the Field House have developed a formula that doesn't quite reach the lofty standards set by GH Cretors, but they hit many of the right notes. In many Chicago mix popcorns, the creators will either go to sweet on the caramel corn or too cheesy on the cheese popcorn. And worst case scenario is you end up with both flavors at the extreme. Other places also use too much salt in their mix. After all, cheap popcorn sells more drinks where they can make real money. Here, too, the Greenheck Field House product shines. Just enough salt to satisfy your savory desires but only enough to make you purchase one additional beverage - not two or three. For the purpose of full disclosure, I do not like eating Chicago mix popcorn as a mix. I love caramel corn, and I enjoy cheesy popcorn, but I never let them co-mingle in my mouth. The Greenheck Field House mix provides a perfect balance of both flavors, so one can eat each separately and not feel cheated. For a while people pay the higher prices but eventually the scale tips and the product isn't worth it anymore. At Athletic Park, the prices went up and up and up. And as they go up, you can no longer walk around and see people you know because you are restricted to your area. Kids cant play under the bleachers. The kids don't go on the field for the seventh inning stretch. You very rarely see Woody. There is no character to the walls and no posters. No one walks around selling beer, peanuts, popcorn, etc. There are no drawings for prizes. THERE IS NO SHADE. And now this year, there are no onions or relish for your hotdogs or hamburgers. You cannot pay the difference and trade up on your seats. And the announcer of old (and his music) is gone. In the last couple of years, every time I go, I say it's the last time and sadly this time, I think it was.
