The onions weren't really sautéed as much as I like either. The beans and mac were unfortunately some of the most flavorless sides I've had in a long time. The beans almost had a sour taste. If you are used to Bush's Baked Beans these aren't it for you. Tenders were ok and thank goodness the tots were right. Other than that I'll probably continue my search for a good local hot dog joint.

They picked a perfect spot in Bristol Borough that they seemed to have partnered with Naked Brewing on. If you have kids the downstairs area is ok, but with live music I had to take my son upstairs to preserve our hearing! We found parking in the large municipal lot behind the building. Upstairs we found cozier seating at a high top table with service. Downstairs I believe you have to walk up to the bar or just sit at the bar for service. I also don't believe the full beer menu is available downstairs. The menu is full of tempting toppings and styles with your choice of regular/footlong dogs, hot sausage or kielbasa. I had a hot sausage with pepper hash and coleslaw. It had a snappy skin, decent heat and was delicious when paired with the sweet coleslaw and pepper hash. My friend ordered frank and tots and reported it to be delicious and filling. My son had a regular dog and we all shared a big pretzel with beer cheese. I had an IPA named Thank Frank that was about average for a West Coast style IPA and my pal had a couple of their darker offerings that he wasn't impressed with. Our server was nice and gave a great recommendation to add the pepper hash. She wasn't the fastest at coming to check on our beers so we bailed. I had one and she never asked if I wanted another and never refilled our waters. Prices weren't too bad. I would definitely return for some more of the interesting creations on the dawg menu, but the brews are really nothing special. Good solid time here and kid friendly, not so great service or beer.

This Friday I found myself at a Raising Cane's in Burlington, New Jersey, which as far as I know…read morehas never been the setting for any great epics, unless you count the war between people who like coleslaw and people who don't. I was there with my son. He had just finished his volunteer work, and we were both hungry. Hunger makes philosophers of us all. I had read the reviews. Many of them said things like "the service is terrible" and "this place is a mess" and "the toast was a war crime." These people must have been living in a parallel dimension, because what we experienced was very nearly delightful. My son got the Box Combo. That's four chicken fingers, a pile of fries, a slab of Texas toast, a little dish of coleslaw, and a drink. He chose sweet tea because he's no fool. He told me beforehand he didn't want the slaw. Kids these days. So I took it. I'm the father. That's what we do. He liked it all. Said the chicken was hot and tender inside. The Texas toast got a nod of approval. That means a lot from a kid who does not pull punches when it comes to food. I got the Three Finger Combo. Fewer fingers but still enough to remind you that you're alive. Fries, toast, sweet tea. No frills, just hot food done well. When the food came up, someone shouted "Hot fresh chicken for Jerry!" They weren't lying. That chicken was blistering. Had to let it cool for a minute or two before my mouth could handle it. Once I did, I found it juicy and delicious. People speak of Cane's Sauce like it's the nectar of gods. I found it fine. Not worth composing sonnets over, but pleasant. The chicken pieces were a bit on the smaller side. That's not a complaint. Quality over quantity, folks. Give me a smaller thing done well over a big one done half-heartedly any day. The slaw was cold and creamy and fresh. I liked it. It's the kind I like, chunky, not obliterated into tiny pieces. No one will write a song about it, but I'd eat it again. The sweet tea was sweet tea. You know what that means. If you don't, move south for a summer and you'll learn. The service was excellent. I mean it. The woman who seemed to be in charge was sharp and kind. She took our order and later came by while we were eating, asking if everything was good. It was. That kind of check-in might not seem like much, but it reminded me that humans are still out here trying. The dining room was clean. It was well-lit. It was also about five degrees colder than the surface of the moon. My son and I sat there with goosebumps on our arms like it was some sort of poultry-themed Arctic expedition. Still, I'd come back. I'd even bring a sweater. Sometimes good chicken and good company are enough to make you forget the cold. Almost.

Food is fantastic. The garlic bread is amongst the best we've ever had! Excellent service and a…read morenice southern laid back feel. One trick pony though as it's just chicken fingers.

The exterior of the restaurant was clean and well maintained, their menu boards were bright and they had lots of signage promoting new limited time menu items which included CHEESE CURDS!!??!! Placing my order was smooth and I even asked if I could substitute traditional tenders for the garlic parm tenders that came in the limited time box deal that I got (I had to get the box deal bc it came with the cheese curds lol) and the employee said he needed to check with his manager and seconds later he came back and said he could make the substitution for me (YAY). There were just a couple of cars ahead of me but I was able to pay and receive my food in a matter of minutes and the employee James at the window was very nice and also walked me through how to sign up for their new app. The food was delicious as it always is at Popeyes and the cheese curds were SEASONED AND SOOOOO YUMMY!!!! Definitely an overall good experience.

The tables could have been wiped down, but maybe they do that at the end of the night. Mostly clean except for some sticky spots. Friendly staff. But the best thing about it is they were playing soft jazz music just like in New Orleans and not loud blasting urban music Raising Cane's down the street. I was too relaxed by it to get too anxious about waiting 20min. Far too many fast food places just blast crap over the speakers that causes every middle-aged customer to want to bolt after 60 seconds. I hope everyone learns from this; ambient jazz music either directly coming from the manager or corporate, I don't know. But a very good practice.
