Easy quick convenience store that is close to home. Make sure you download the Wawa app and use your points! I always forget, but the nice staff there remind me :) Good quality food on the go and nice workers. My favorite are the chicken caesar pin wheels and fresh fruit cups! I come to this Wawa very often since it's so close to my house. I usually don't have any issues but today I went in to grab a coffee and while I waited for my order I noticed about 5 or 6 flies around one of the deli computers. I let one of the employees know and they said "yeah" so I guess they've just got flies now! read more

My husband and I lived just down the road from this store - we now live in Pittsburgh, PA and we're dying for WaWa to expand their market farther into Pennsylvania and into our area where currently Sheetz is a poor substitute. That being said, I've been to this WaWa so many times for fuel, snacks/food, sandwiches and coffee. So here's my experience with the Matawan location... The fuel pumpers were always fine and never were any trouble or anything but great. I always tip nicely whenever it's super cold or super snowy outside. Thank you guys very much for the hard work out there. Regarding Parking: I never had any trouble parking at this location. Some people complain if they can't park right in front, but there's plenty of parking around the side of this WaWa - closer to the Pine Tavern and Cheesequake Park. So, no complaints on parking or fueling up outside. Going into the store - it's always been a clean store every time I've ever been in there - which number a ton of times. On the right side of the store is the sandwich making area with touch screen monitors where you can order your customized sandwich including extra mayo - they've thought of everything you could want and included it in the touch screen process so you don't have to ask for something special only verbally. The WaWa sandwiches have always been delicious. I love the roasted beef and my husband loved the tuna or chicken salad. No matter what type of sandwich I've ordered I've never received anything that wasn't very good tasting and absolutely above average compared to any place like Subway or Sheetz Fuel Stations here in Pittsburgh. The bread was always fresh and the lettuce and tomatoes were ripe and clean - no problems at all on the sandwiches. WaWa has fresh fruit, pre-made sandwiches and juices, cheese and so forth in the middle of the store in refrigerated islands. Because they have such great made-to-order sandwiches, I never tried a pre-made sandwich so I have no information on that. The fruit was always great and they had a nice selection of cheese and other deli, grocery type foods to go. Another item I frequently enjoyed form WaWa was the coffee service. I LOVE the numerous varieties available all morning and day in the coffee section. I like to mix two coffees and then get a flavored creamer to top it all off for a delicious custom coffee. The prices are so much better than the trendy coffee places and the WaWa associates are always good about keeping the coffee area clean from spills and trash that inconsiderate folks leave around. I never found any of the cashier associates to be snobby or rude or have an ugly attitude. But, I don't interact enough for something like that to come into play. I highly recommend this WaWa location. It ALWAYS ran smoothly during our time living in Old Bridge and whenever we get back to that area of New Jersey, as we have family there, we ALWAYS stop at this WaWa in particular for sandwiches, fuel, fresh coffee and a piece of fresh fruit to go. We're never disappointed. We are praying that WaWa will make it across Pennsylvania to the Pittsburgh market - that would be a blessing indeed. read more

I LOVE THIS STORE! Always the friendliest staff and great people behind the counter doing the food orders. I never have to wait very long for the food to be prepared. Gas attendents are also very nice. i currently got my new Wawa credit card in the mail. that is convenient having when I dont have cash on me. for the first two months you save 25 cents per gallon on gas when you use your wawa credit card then 5 cents after that. great deal when i am driving so much for work. read more

never have i ever had a salad made correctly here----3 times in 8 days! 1st day no fresh salsa, 2nd day i look to see there is fresh salsa and then there is no seeds....today i think i'm doing a great job...no seeds and i catch it before leaving...she gives me a container, next i say the dressing said on the side....she put it all over it....then i could not see because of that dressing---there were no eggs. look these are $9 and $10 salads...every ingrediant is listed--how can 3 seperate team members each foul it up. train better and get more help!! read more

Gas station aspect - I like that the gas is the same price for cash or credit. It is also one of the better priced places to get gas off of Route 9. I have driven from South Amboy to Matawan to this Wawa just for gas. That said, they often have several pumps closed and I have waited a ridiculously long time on many occasions for service. I know the law in NJ about not pumping your own gas or getting out of the car, but I have Maryland plates these days, so when I have had enough of being ignored I get out and act as if I will do it myself... I then get LOTS of assistance. Also a Pro about Wawas - Free air for your tires The shop - Generally the shop is clean and well stocked. $1.66 for a extra large coffee!!!! You can't beat that anywhere. And it taste good too.....it's better (IMO) then Quick Check, 7-11. Hoagies are good too.....even better during Hoagie Fest! Coffee is normally the best thing going for inside this store. The staff are the rudest especially when you are waiting for coffee that is completely empty.
