    Hot Sandwiches
    Laura C.

My husband and I lived just down the road from this store - we now live in Pittsburgh, PA and we're dying for WaWa to expand their market farther into Pennsylvania and into our area where currently Sheetz is a poor substitute. That being said, I've been to this WaWa so many times for fuel, snacks/food, sandwiches and coffee. So here's my experience with the Matawan location... The fuel pumpers were always fine and never were any trouble or anything but great. I always tip nicely whenever it's super cold or super snowy outside. Thank you guys very much for the hard work out there. Regarding Parking: I never had any trouble parking at this location. Some people complain if they can't park right in front, but there's plenty of parking around the side of this WaWa - closer to the Pine Tavern and Cheesequake Park. So, no complaints on parking or fueling up outside. Going into the store - it's always been a clean store every time I've ever been in there - which number a ton of times. On the right side of the store is the sandwich making area with touch screen monitors where you can order your customized sandwich including extra mayo - they've thought of everything you could want and included it in the touch screen process so you don't have to ask for something special only verbally. The WaWa sandwiches have always been delicious. I love the roasted beef and my husband loved the tuna or chicken salad. No matter what type of sandwich I've ordered I've never received anything that wasn't very good tasting and absolutely above average compared to any place like Subway or Sheetz Fuel Stations here in Pittsburgh. The bread was always fresh and the lettuce and tomatoes were ripe and clean - no problems at all on the sandwiches. WaWa has fresh fruit, pre-made sandwiches and juices, cheese and so forth in the middle of the store in refrigerated islands. Because they have such great made-to-order sandwiches, I never tried a pre-made sandwich so I have no information on that. The fruit was always great and they had a nice selection of cheese and other deli, grocery type foods to go. Another item I frequently enjoyed form WaWa was the coffee service. I LOVE the numerous varieties available all morning and day in the coffee section. I like to mix two coffees and then get a flavored creamer to top it all off for a delicious custom coffee. The prices are so much better than the trendy coffee places and the WaWa associates are always good about keeping the coffee area clean from spills and trash that inconsiderate folks leave around. I never found any of the cashier associates to be snobby or rude or have an ugly attitude. But, I don't interact enough for something like that to come into play. I highly recommend this WaWa location. It ALWAYS ran smoothly during our time living in Old Bridge and whenever we get back to that area of New Jersey, as we have family there, we ALWAYS stop at this WaWa in particular for sandwiches, fuel, fresh coffee and a piece of fresh fruit to go. We're never disappointed. We are praying that WaWa will make it across Pennsylvania to the Pittsburgh market - that would be a blessing indeed.

Best coffee in the world! I love the vanilla coffee. And I hate coffee. Only coffee I will drink occasionally.

If you haven't tried Honeygrow yet... you're missing out…read more Everything is made fresh to order- from protein-packed stir-fry to salads and their delicious Honeybars with fruit and granola. My daughter ordered the Buffalo Chicken & Blue Cheese stir-fry (I thought it sounded crazy... until I tried it ), and I went with the Garlic Butter Chicken: fresh egg white noodles, roasted chicken, snow peas, scallions, mushrooms, toasted sesame seeds, chili crisps, and garlic butter sauce... AHHHmazing! When you're looking for a healthier meal that's loaded with protein and actually tastes indulgent, this is definitely worth adding to your list.

I had the build your own bowl with noodles and shrimp and spinach and scallions and pineapple and a sauce that tasted like pure heaven! Although it was very busy there were clean tables for us to sit and they also have a lovely outdoor space for when the weather is nice (it was nice last night and the tables outside were full) The only thing that bothered me was I was not able to leave a tip after paying at the screens. I found that odd in today's market. EVERYONE wants a tip. What I was told by the woman in the collared shirt who brought us our food was "The only tip you need to leave us is a review online if you enjoy your time at Honey grown" I wish employees had name tags but she's about my age (mid to late 40's and that's all I will admit to!) with a hat on over her pony tail and she had some tattoos on her arm. It was very nice of her to bring us our food when they were so obviously busy. May I suggest Honey grown supply name tags so we know who we are talking to without asking? It takes a lot to shock this gal and shocked I was! To turn down cold hard cash for a review is something you don't see every day. Bravo! There was also a handsome young man at the counter who was putting food on trays and in bags who deserves some recognition. He had so many bags and trays lined up and he didn't break his stride! Actually, they all deserve some recognition! I believe there were 4 or 5 young men cooking the food at the same time in big pans over what seemed to be fire pits and everyone was focused on their work. I didn't see anyone on a cell phone or standing around doing nothing and what a sight that is to see! I was truly impressed. Honey grown must be very picky when hiring staff. I got home from a church concert too late last night to write this review so here I am this morning. The only reminder I needed to write this review was the adorable little box of leftovers in my ice box! I wonder if it's appropriate to have stir fry for breakfast? If more restaurants adopted the attitude that positive feedback is worth more than dollar bills then less restaurants would be closing! I'm coming back either this evening or lunchtime tomorrow with my lady friends from church and will be sure to leave a tip at the screens! Did I mention the screens? That was my only hesitation when arriving. I prefer placing my order with a living breathing human being but I will accept Honey growns method of doing things simply because the restaurant staff still interacts with the people. Myself being one of those people. Looking forward to seeing you all this evening or tomorrow! Thank you Honey grown! Sincerely and uniquely me, Monique Influencer of influencers! Queen of all queens! I ordered the paneer platter and it was ok. I feel there was more rice than the paneer given. I wish there was a spice level option as well because I like spicy food. The web page pictures are misleading because for one the Makhni in the picture is more of a yellow curry base, whereas what I got was more of a red-orange (more so the color shown in the tikka masala image). My friend ordered the butter chicken and it was the same deal with the color, but I also have never had either dish before with a more yellow curry base so lol I just wanted to say it's inconsistent. We also ordered the Heavenly Hummus to share. Hummus was good, pita was good, but whatever was spread on top of the pita to make it a "garlic bread" was very strange tasting. We didn't particularly enjoy that portion of the pita.

The food is outstanding and the people are very friendly and extremely welcoming. My "go-to" dish is the chicken and rice platter with salad. As mentioned, the food quality is exceptional, very flavorful and always fresh. Chicken chunks are very tender and well seasoned. The rice is delicious and the salad is always fresh, crisp and cold. They have a wide variety of sauces and they always ask if you need more. And, yes, the platters are enormous. It is literally impossible to walk out of this place feeling hungry. The Halal Spot also has lamb, falafel, butter chicken and wide variety of other dishes. So if you are looking for a place that serves outstanding food, enormous portions that is reasonably priced. Your "go-to" spot should be The Halal Spot. Yes, it is that good!

You place your order up front, and interestingly we were served by both a person and a robot delivering food to the table. One thing I really liked was the huge condiment bar -- lots of options to customize your meal. The food itself was excellent. We had the steak kebabs and fried calamari, which came with a side salad, and everything was fresh and flavorful. The reason for four stars instead of five is the cost. It's a self-serve, fast-casual environment, so the pricing felt a little high for that type of setup. Overall though, the quality of the food was very good and definitely worth trying.

It was delicious, the burgers were fried to perfection much to my surprise. And the fries filled an entire medium sized paper bag. My date and I were blown away. I moved to Jersey and recently decided to go to Five Guys since I was out. The cashier greeted me with only a grunt take my somewhat pricey order, and got a little nicer. The burger was so so and the fries over cooked. My milkshake was very good though. So the final word is: living in NYC you develop a taste for food on a higher level. The bar is set that way. NJ chains like Five Guys and Chipotle don't keep their counters and food prep areas as clean as they should. The service is only ok. I'm not sure how they still attract so many diners! Four stars because I ate the entire cheeseburger, all the fries and the milkshake. It wasn't as good as the first time, but is anything really ever? PS: now Subway Sandwich shops and food are outstanding. The service is very good. You can tell the franchisees have invested in some training. Maybe I shouldn't compare, but I've eaten at Subway three times in the last month, and Five Guys only once.
