No. I've been twice now and no. On the first occasion I was only passing and nipped in on the off chance, I was seen to straight away. Excellent. After getting over (or rather getting up to) the high table, I found the treatment room a little uncomfortable. On the first visit, I found the service OK, the lady was very nice and charming. The waxing was not as slick as and more painful than my previous hair removable establishment. But it was cheaper, no wait and quick. It was this that got me back. On my next visit I was told there was a 25 min wait, which was fine. I came back at the agreed time and was left waiting another 15 min. Time I did not have, but I need my eyebrows done, so I persisted with the wait. The brow shape was fine, but my skin was left so red and tender. I treated it with aloe vera when I got home to bring the redness down. Also after three days spots that had appeared on one brow remained. Ugh. I wont be back. After being to Urban Wax and Brazilia, regardless of how more expensive they are, I can now appreciate that you get what you pay for when it comes to waxing in this city. read more

Hmmmm had to revisit my review on this place, it's fine but as with everywhere it depends on who serves you. I've been back a number of times to Wax and the City, first time was great - the second time I went back, I had to revisit the next day due to not such a good job. Next couple of times fine, but more recently UH-OH. The girl was really slow including pulling the wax off slowly and YOWZZAAA that hurts like hell I can tell you. More like epilation which I could torture myself with at home than waxing. Then when one of her colleagues popped by to tell her to hurry up she didn't finish the job properly and bustled me out. What had previously taken 30-40mins took an hour and a half and off I went on my not so merry way with a patchy leg job and a few clumps of wax still attached. The girl who did my treatment was lovely but incredibly inexperienced. As a result I found myself talking her though half of it! On the plus side I walked in with no appointment and was seen straight away but it took 2.5 hours for what normally takes and hour and fifteen minutes! For me, the number one thing that makes or breaks a waxing experience is how comfortable staff make you. The staff here are great at putting me at ease, and even though I've never had the same girl twice they always chat comfortably and distract from the inevitable shock. I've never had a bad experience despite being here loads of times, and the walk-in system is exactly what you'd expect - busy at peak times like lunch and weekends, really quick and easy if you can get the odd half hour off otherwise. The prices are good and the loyalty card is nice if you're a regular. Hours are very reasonable and often extended around holiday times! To be honest, having hair literally ripped from your skin is never going to be your favorite way to spend a morning and it's always going to be uncomfortable but it's the least painful you can get here. Plus they're very good about using samples of their products on you from time to time to help prevent rash, ingrowns, etc. which is honestly one of the reasons I keep coming back, other places are so unbelievably stingy. Plus, they'll tell you how long it'll be if there's a wait so you can go get a coffee or munchable from any of the nearby shops! read more

This place is definitely my favourite waxing place in Dublin. I was a little worried at first with the no appointments policy, but almost every time I've been here, I've been seen in less then 10 mins (the one time it took longer, I was able to go out and grab a coffee during the wait, so I didn't have to sit around in their waiting room) I've been seen by a number of different women, and the service is almost always fast and friendly. The one time I had a new girl and it took longer then usual, they gave me a voucher for 5euro off my next trip without my even having to complain. The staff are always nice and friendly, the prices are some of the best I've seen, and the loyalty card is excellent. Definitely recommend. read more

I am surprised by the reviews here. I expected everyone to be raving about this place. I love many things about this place. 1- No appointments: you just walk in, and you are usually seen in 20 minutes. I've rarely been there and not been able to get a treatment. You don't have to worry about calling or canceling, you just show up. 2- They make their own organic wax. This wax does not hurt. Several of my friends have said the same, but go at your own risk. Really, I didn't believe this until I tried for myself. Obviously it's still wax so it is uncomfortable, don't expect to be caressed with a feather, but everywhere else feels like torture and this place feels fine. 3- They are super nice and very affordable. I take away one star because you can't ask for someone to see you. You just get whoever's available so it's kinda weird. I never got the same person twice. Other than that, very recommended. I have tried multiple Wax saloon and in none of them I was really satisfied. My friend gave me the address of Wax in the City and I tried to go there for a bikini wax. I really liked this place! No appointment policy is AMAZING, I was seen within 5 minutes. The reception area is comfortable and chic, and my room was not what I expected (function over form!) but it's part of the quick ethos of the place I guess. My waxing technician was lovely and she did a great job - no hair was left unwaxed and the redness went down faster than other waxes I've had elsewhere. This must've been down to their unique wax, which my skin reacted well to. It's a few weeks on now and my regrowth is far better than previous waxes I have had too. Great value for money, fast and easy service, and I'll definitely be back again - but with all the mixed reviews on here about different experiences, I'm a little apprehensive since I've only had a positive one! read more

I have visited this salon a a few times in both locations and never particularly rated it but the convenience & online waiting list meant that I returned. The last time I visited I told the therapist numerous times the wax was too hot and she told me it was just my sensitive skin & that all the wax was heated to a specific tested temperature. I have waxed my legs for years and in many different salons without every encountering this issue. After I finished my treatment & repeated my concerns to the receptionist who didn't seem to care. My legs were still very painful and later one had developed a large burn down the shin like bad sun burn. I was going on holidays the next day & had to keep my leg covered from the sun for the first few days, not the outcome I was expected from a simple leg wax! read more

I've been to a few (way more expensive) waxing places in Dublin and let me tell you they don't match up half as well to Wax in the City. The staff are super and so helpful and polite and the waxing takes so little time and is such good value for money! I've never been in and out hair-free so quick before. It hurt the first time but now my hair is so sparse it's barely even sore anymore. I've seen a few of the girls in the studio now and I've never once had a bad experience. I like to get chatty so I don't lose my nerve and they have always been more than happy to chat away (and make me laugh so hard I nearly roll off the table). Really nice selection of down-to-earth girls. The price, speed of service and great staff are what keep me coming back! Delighted with them. read more

I had my first wax here yesterday following a good review from a friend who raved out their walk in service and cheaper prices than other salons in the neighbourhood. However, I found that this place did not live up to my expectations. The salon is extremely basic and clinical, with really harsh white light. The wax took twice as long as any other I've ever had, the wax was extremely hot and a little painful as a result and I was left with wax on my skin afterwards. It's definitely worth paying the extra few euro for a much more comfortable and professional experience at Urbana or Urban Wax. read more

I love this place. I have had my legs done here and more recently a Hollywood wax. It is clean, efficient and there's no messing. Just the type of experience I want when it comes to someone waxing my small parts. I did notice some hairs that were missed when I left last time and the receptionist is an odd choice due to her attitude. There was a lot of chatting and talking going on when I was standing like a pleb waiting to be served the last day. I'll overlook it but if it happens when I keep going back I will have to forego the amazing natural wax, most painless waxing I've ever had and sheer ease of getting an appointment because it's just a bad first impression. read more

This review is solely based on the receptionist. Every time I go I hope there is someone else sitting in that chair but it's usually the same person. She is rude and impatient and I've now taken my business somewhere else after she rudely let me know that I can't request to see the girl I've been seeing for months for Brazilian waxes. Uh oh, time for an update, and unfortunately not a positive one. Since my great early experience this place has gone way down in my estimation. I had a wax here 3 weeks back that was so poor there was visible regrowth in 48 hours. The girl had merely broken the hair and it came back insanely fast. She also missed some areas and to be honest I found the whole experience sub standard. From the outrageously long time it took to do the job, to the ingrowns I've suffered since and the humiliating manner in which one must contort (they won't use the same method as LITERALLY EVERYONE ELSE to wax certain areas) to finish off a wax I'm afraid I am done. Just not good enough and their prices have crept up meaning for an extra €7 I'll have the comfort and cleanliness of Urban Wax back, please! read more

Popped in for the first time today. Waited less than 20 minutes before being taken back. They use hot beeswax which doesn't hurt too much coming off. And they have a loyalty card- after 12 waxes the next is free! No appointments, no stupid 'patch test' and a loyalty card- what else could you ask for? read more

Excellent experience. The no booking system works really well. I arrived straight after work which i imagine is a fairly popular time, the wait was 25 minutes which the receptionist told me when I arrived. The receptionist was helpful and polite and the therapist was great. As it was my first time they explained the process really clearly. They only use hot wax for bikini area (less painful than strips) and they are really thorough. The whole process was really efficient and the other customers all seemed pleased as they left. read more

Very different from your regular wax parlour: No appointment needed is the best part!! And the type of wax is a hot wax from a small bucket and rubbed on large areas of the body before being pulled off. They go over each area twice so I find it really good at removing every bit of hair. Also, it's not as painful as cool strip wax. The salon interior is really nice and kept very clean, and the waxing is done really quick so you're in and out in a flash (It may depend on who you get though). The prices are also lower than other wax parlours, and there's also a loyalty card! The staff can be a bit cold though. read more

I was here on the 5th of December. The worst wax I have ever experienced. Having previously lived in Galway I was new to the Dublin waxing scene. Now I can say - you better spend more money so you get a good wax. Got the armpits and full legs done. Still a bit hairy afterwards and the pain - excruciating. It really seemed like the girl didn't know what she was doing. Last Thursday I went to Brazilia for a brazilian - very pleasant! Therefore - Wax in the City - NEVER EVER AGAIN!!!! I'm really surprised by some of the reviews that are here! I've been going here for the last couple of years and have never had a bad experience. Ok there was one time I had a new girl and the waxing took longer than expected but I was given a voucher on my way out and an apology so I was happy with that. The people on reception I've always found very friendly as well. A few weeks back myself and a friend went in but they could only fit one of us in. The receptionist there at the time told us both to take a seat and she would try her best to get us both seen to, which she did. The place itself is clean and the loyalty card is great. Have been three times but don't think I will be back for fourth visit. It is very convenient that you don't need an appointment and I have never been waiting long, price is few euros cheaper that other places which doesn't hurt but I am always left with few hairs that I have to go and remove myself. I now pay for a slightly dearer wax but it is worth it as the result is better. I also feel like the appointment is always being rushed so I don't feel so comfortable going there. I'm looking at some of the reviews here and wanted to add my tuppence worth. I started going here because it was easy in terms of not having to book, the prices were reasonable and I found method of waxing (taking everything off in one go) quite efficient. But since going here I've started noticing a lot of ingrown hairs which I never used to get in the past. The girls who work there always tell me it's because I don't exfoliate properly etc but I'm starting to think it's because of their method as it never happened before. Also the hairs seem to grow back quite fast. I wish this wasn't the case as it was v handy but I think to avoid more ingrown I'll just have to go elsewhere! Also some of the girls can be very militant and you feel like you're just a piece on a conveyor belt. read more

Was here last week I got to waxes done my back and Brazilian the lady on reception was as rude as anything she was staring at me like I had ten heads then the girl that done my waxes used the same spread for the two waxes talk about unhygienic and My back has broken into spots because of it. The rooms aren't very private either there like cubicles everyone can hear everyone's conversations of what there getting done and curtains for doors anyone can walk in with out you know. My first experience was great! I was a little nervous as it had been a while since my last wax but when I walked in, I was seen to by a tall dark haired girl, with glasses. She was brill! No pain and no wait... In and out just as quick for a Hollywood. However, my second trip in hadn't been as good. The girl who had come to the desk to collect my docket was so uninterested, she had called my name and just walked towards the back room. I had to run after her to catch up, she had my legs stuck together, to the bed and all over! Everywhere was painful, (always a bad sign of the therapists experience). I went home to discover the backs of my leg hair had only been "shortened" and not waxed out. My underarm had a few strays and the same with my Hollywood. A week later I began to see that I had a full arm of under arm hair, leg hair and a stubbily regrowth on my Hollywood area. I also received an ingrown hair! This lady had done the treatments all wrong and I basically paid €80 for a stubbily, ingrown Hollywood regrowth, shortened leg hair and half of underarm hair. When I emailed in to complain they had told me they had found the therapist in question, was going to give her more training and their apologies. I spent €80 on a crap service and I don't even get as much as a complimentary underarm wax as a resolution to the situation! AVOID AT ALL COSTS! read more

I was a regular customer to wax in the city, and found the efficiency good. Wax in the city have a loyalty card system, so being a regular customer I built up the 10 (or so) stamps necessary to get my free treatment, this being very welcome due to the cost. Unfortunately when I arrived to claim my free treatment, I was told that I had already claimed it a week before... I had not even been there that week, or for about a month previous... On a precious occasion my loyalty card was given to someone else by the woman at reception, while I was at my appointment. She said it was fine, and just scribbled out the name of the person on the card that was left behind and said that I could use that one. I thought nothing of this, but obviously the person who was given my card ended up claiming my free treatment. I was so disappointed with how the management dealt with this mix up. I was told what treatments that I had apparently had on their system, and when I had them... Neither pieces of information matched what I had done. I had never in my life even had any of the treatments that their system said I had. When I explained the previous mix up to the woman at the desk, she just said the system says you have claimed your free treatment, There is nothing I can do. She was very abrupt and did not try to help at all. Needless to say, I haven't gone back since. To add to my annoyance, when I arrived to discuss the situation, I had to wait for ten minutes for the receptionist to finish a personal call to a customer service representative in regards to a holiday which she had booked that clashed with a hen night... She then sat and complained to me about bad customer service... How ironic, What a joke... read more

This place is horrible. DO NOT BOOK A WAXING HERE. the woman who waxed me was apprised that I have sensitive skin. She had the bedside manner of an American drill sergeant and the technique to boot. She applied the hot wax very brusquely and very hot, even after I asked her to please cool the wax for half a second before applying it. She blamed my skin for my adverse reaction to her technique and didn't adjust after I asked her kindly more than once. I have had hundreds of waxwings, mostly in New York City, but also globally and this by far was the worst. When I calmly aired my grievances to the cashier on my way out she simply said that the establishment didn't receive negative feedback, but now as I look back at these reviews I see that others have had the same experience. DON NOT BOOK HERE. there's Benefit down the street as well as another lovely waxing spot that will be gentle and take good care of your skin no matter your needs. No one needs to be treated harshly with their legs spread, this much we know. read more

I've been going here for years and was a big fan, until recently.... the depiladora was so rude and made me feel really uncomfortable. Passive aggressive is probably the best description. Bikini waxing is not something anyone enjoys and this experience turned me off wax in the city... almost off waxing altogether. Awful!! Will not be going back!! The reception staff were lovely but the waxing was dreadful. I had my eyebrows waxed and the wax was uncomfortably and painfully overheated! She also waxed on the arch of my nose between my eyebrows which there was no need to do and ripped it off so hard that it was raw and almost bleeding - three days later there it still a scab on it!! My eyelids were red and swollen after it and she didn't put any lotion or anything to calm the redness down!! Very crude and unprofessional in comparison to waxing I have had done elsewhere - glad it was just my eyebrows!! Will not be going back!! Shame as it is clean and easy to get to. They just need more professional and better trained staff. read more
