I ordered 10 cubic yards of mulch from these folks. I went in, paid in full and arranged delivery for a week later. The mulch cost roughly $600 and the delivery was another $400. That is a steep delivery charge but I live an hour out of town so I accepted it without a word. Now my issue: The policy at Waxy's is no refunds. They will, though, issue you a store credit. When I initially went in and ordered, the nice young lady asked for the length, width and depth of my yard. She then told me that I'd need 10 cubic yards of mulch to do the job. Later in the week I realized that 10 cubic yards would be way too much and I called them too reduce the amount. Now keep in mind, no mulch had been loaded on to a truck. It was still sitting in a very large pile in their yard. I know this because they didn't load it on the truck until mid afternoon and I received it at 4:30 p.m. I took the day off from work to wait for this stuff and consequently wasted an entire day but that is not the point of this review. So now I am the proud owner of a $280 in store credit at a company that will charge me $400 to deliver. So I am effectively $120 in the hole before I even pay dollar one for product. I begged for them to make an exception as I felt that they shouldn't hold me responsible for their math problem. Not to mention that the mulch was never touched until it was loaded onto the truck on the day of delivery. Why couldn't they decrease the amount ordered and issue a credit? I gave them plenty of notice before the day of delivery. I could see if I had taken it and then brought back what I didn't need and tried to return it. I could see if they took 10 cubic yards out of the yard and separated my order beforehand. None of that was the case. Nothing was touched at that point. Anyway, I make my living in business development. I work with small and medium sized businesses all the time. My job is to help business owners grow their market share and increase their revenue. I will summarize for those who don't want to read a long review. I was incorrectly quoted, had to pay over $1000 over quote, owner refused to do anything about it. To add insult to injury the grade was done wrong so rain water rushed into the window well and into the basement. We hired Waxy's to put topsoil in the yard of our new home. When we called for the quote we were told the price of the topsoil and the price per hour for the Bobcat and operator (which was over $100/hour). She said we would have to send in a drawing if we wanted a more precise quote. I asked about a delivery charge and they said,"there's no delivery charge when you hire the bobcat." So we sent in our drawing, went over it with them over the phone and got our quote. Upon completing the job the price we paid was over $1000 OVER what they quoted. What was supposed to cost $1500 turned into $2680! The bobcat operator that was in my house and wouldn't leave without payment told me to talk to Donna the owner to get it straightened out. It turns out that there is no delivery charge because the bobcat operator is also the delivery driver. So we had to pay over $100/hour for the bobcat guy to hop in his truck, drive across town, chit chat with his buddy's in the yard, have lunch, load up, drive back, dump, and repeat. NONE of which was explained during the numerous phone calls we had with them. And do you think Donna would take any responsibility for the misrepresentation? Not a chance! She pretty much said it is what it is and she can't do anything about it. I asked for her to at least split the difference with me. NOPE! She said since we had work done at the same time as the neighbours that she couldn't give me a discount because the others would find out and she would have to do the same for them. In total there were 4 houses and thousands of dollars in business that ware given to them based on misrepresented pricing and she would take NO responsibility, and wouldn't even knock a couple hundred bucks off. To add insult to injury, a couple of weeks after the work was done we had a big storm. Because they did a poor job of maintaining the grading on one side of the house water was draining back from my yard and the neighbours into my window well and into my basement. Luckily we had only lived in the home a short time so we didn't have much in the basement. So getting screwed on price, shoddy workmanship, and water in my basement. Needless to say, my recommendation to everyone is, NEVER USE WAXY'S!!!! read more
