Tried out Wayback Burgers today for the first time. Came here specifically because of a separate fryer for celiacs and gluten free bun option. Service was good and food comes out piping hot. We tried out the classic burger and fries. Toppings were fresh, burger was seasoned well. Fries are cut in house with skins on and were golden, crisp and seasoned perfectly. You get a pretty large portion, so come hungry. For the price of both meals and the portion size, it's definitely worth it. We will definitely be back. read more

Food and service are great. Frendly service and lots of options. They are definitely worth going, fresh ingredients and local products, yes it is Halal which i love , restaurant is very clean and love the fact you can see into their kitchen which is also clean. The layout is cool with a 60's diner vibe and I appreciate that there are multiple seating options - booths, tables, soda shop counter BUT unfortunately my kiddo and I waited 25 minutes (yeah, you read that right) for 2 burgers and 35 minutes for an order of onion rings. We were the only table for food and I saw one skip driver come in. It's just not practical for a wait like that and I cannot imagine how long it would be if they were busy. The burgers were decent but nothing to write home about. The onion rings were fast but you only get a handful. I like the concept and idea but both of us said we had no intention of returning. 3 stars for the food, 4 stars for the decor, 2 stars for the long wait so we'll go with 3 overall. read more

Felt like trying a new burger place, so me and a few coworkers decided to hit up Griesbach. The inside looks spacious, crisp and clean, which it should since it's brand new build. The menu is a decent size. They have chicken and veggie options. Free refills on fountain drinks. The food came out fresh out of the fryer. Good size and presentation. The service lady was a bit slow, but nice enough. Stars were deducted because I had asked for lettuce and onions and got neither on the sandwich. They don't have hand cut fries but their burger is pretty good for the price. Their classic burger from the signature menu is a double patty with American cheese topped with lettuce, tomato, pickles, onions, ketchup, and mustard. The patties were a bit small but the beef was pretty good. The bun was pretty standard and held everything together. The fries are processed, frozen, then deep fried to order and they were okay. I really expect good burger joints to had hand cut double fried real fries but maybe that standard is unrealistic for a burger chain. We got a side of gravy and it was quite thick, small portion, and tasted very processed. They have a classic milkshake maker so they weren't bad but a good milkshake is all about the ratio of milk to ice cream. The venue looks pretty nice, a few big booths, some high tops and a window to look into the open concept kitchen. This location has huge windows that allow lots of natural light in. They do have a bit of competition since they are on Griesbach restaurant row with a ton of other options but I think they will carve out their niche since there isn't really another good burger joint close by. read more

Saw an add on Facebook that offered buy one get one burger free. It was for the new jasper location but the northside location honors it as well. Some street parking for the strip-mall stores but I can see it being hard to find parking during busy times. At 7PM on a Sunday there were a few open spots and the restaurant was 10% full but had several takeout orders while we were there. 2 gender-specific bathrooms but I think there is only 1 toilet per room so it could be used as gender-neutral as needed. I got the Rodeo burger and added the 'chips + reg drink" combo and then for $2.99 upgraded the drink to a milkshake. Boyfriend got the featured October Oktoberfest burger. Oreo mint milkshake was great. Good creamy taste, didn't melt too fast, not too strong mint taste. 9/10 would get again. Chips were perfectly cooked but super greasy (as excepted). Needed more salt. Pretty bland - needed a creamy dip. Boyfriends burger had bigger onion rings than mine so that was disappointing in the presentation. Burger was good. Patty was extremely fresh and juicy (dripping grease). Bun was soft, onion rings were great just very small. SOOO cheap with the BBQ sauce (as you can see from the picture) - not at all as advertised 9 dripping with sauce). Overall 7/10. Good but could be better. Lots of seating inside the restaurant from booths to tables to bar stools. Overall a good fast food burger made fresh. read more

Wayback Burgers is a nice addition to the area but the food was not as good as I expected. I ordered online which was easy and fast. My food was ready for pick up in about 10 minutes. The milkshake was made when I arrived so it was cold, thick and full of flavour. I would recommend trying the shake although I've had better shakes elsewhere (Red Robin, Fatburger, etc). The shake was the best part of the combo order. You read that right. I wasn't that impressed overall. The combo includes a burger, side and drink with the discount being some savings on the drink. In addition to the strawberry banana shake, I ordered a single patty burger with pepper jack cheese, lettuce, tomato, ketchup, mustard, pickle, onion, fried onion, mushrooms, mayo and Wayback Gold Sauce. It was messy but not a bad messy. Probably could have done with either the mayo or the gold sauce rather than both. If I go again, I would probably try a different sauce all together. Mushrooms seemed canned rather than fresh so I would skip those next time. The bun was fine. The meat was fine. The cheese was fine and so forth. There are better fast food burgers out there but I would order it again and try other toppings before ever ordering onion rings again. You read that right. The onion rings were just gross. A gooey interior mixed with a smooth, unappealing exterior easily made these the weakest element. Mushy, oily and bland are not want I want in an onion ring. Note: Giving this location a 3 out of 5 is being a little generous. 2.5 is more accurate but, as I feel I could try them again, 2 is too low. 3/5 it is. read more

First impressions aren't that great. I ordered the cheesesteak and when it arrived at my table it was served on a cold bun and unseasoned meat, a stingy portion of sliced beef and onions. I approached the manager and he didn't seem to care about the quality of the food, he just insisted that is how it's prepared. He also wanted to charge me full price for a refill on their fountain sodas because of covid. Dork! Most places will just give you a new cup and straw. The cook was nice I appreciated him coming out to talk about my disappointment, he did more than the manager did. For $17 I felt pretty ripped off and the only thing the manager offered was sorry. Well, their first impression is not good at all. There are so many other good burger places but the poor quality and the manager's response, why would customers come back, I know I would not. read more

Tried out this brand new location of Wayback Burgers on Sunday, February 14th and we were impressed! I read the comments on Facebook, and the wait times were up to and over an hour, so we ordered way ahead. We did use a third party ordering site and placed our order at 2pm for a 5:45pm pickup. You can order from the Wayback site directly which I would encourage you to do so. I'm not sure if their site allows you to pre-order ahead of time though. When I arrived at 5:45, the restaurant was full of people waiting for their meals, and I did overhear the cashier telling customers it was a good 45 minute wait. I was able to pick up my order within a few minutes and I was super happy we thought to order ahead of time. Our order was the Double Bacon burger with fries, the Cheeeezy Burger with onion rings, a Cookies & Cream milkshake and a Cafe Mocha milkshake. The cost of our order was $37.32. When I got home, our burgers and fries were still fairly warm. The Bacon burger comes with cheese and obviously bacon (my spouse didn't want any other sauces or veg). He did say there was lots of bacon, but not enough cheese. He had a decent amount of fries in his order and he liked the Cookies and cream milkshake as well. I had the Cheeezy burger and really liked it. The patties were a fair size (2 patties) and there was lots of cheese. It comes plain (just cheese), so next time I would add on some sauces. I didn't really like the onion rings because the breading wasn't flavorful and the rings were too thick. I had asked for them to be extra crispy, but they were still pretty soggy. I put them in our air fryer for 10 minutes and that worked well. I still didn't like the flavor and just wouldn't order them the next time. I'll probably try the chips instead. My Cafe Mocha milkshake was good too. Nothing crazy about it, but I would have it again or try another one. Overall our food and pick up experience was really good and we'll be back! The one little issue I had is that the milkshake cups don't fit in the take out cup holder properly and they spilled over on my car seats. I did send an email to the owner/manager and am waiting to hear back. Hopefully they'll find a better holder for those cups. This won't deter us from going there again. We just know now, not to not use those holders. We can't wait to go back and try something else from their menu! read more

Chicken grilled or deep fried, fish, hot dog Buns are toasted and freWhat kind of cheese, condiments, toppings, other sauces? Fries, chips, tater tots? Milkshakes hand made. Fast service, so fresh. My grilled chicken burger was cooked to perfection, nice and juicy not dry at all. Double bacon burger was delicious as well. The food here is great. The service is atrocious. Ordered a chicken blt and bacon fries today. The chicken wasn't even put on the grill until we had been waiting for 20 min. In total it took 26 minutes to recieve our takeout order. That's unacceptable. read more

We've been trying to get over here for a while now. Absolutely worth the trip. This was the best 'slow-fast' burger I've had in a very long time. I'm celiac and they have a fabulous gluten-free bun, the burger was dripping with juiciness. You can choose from the menu or customize your own. The husband had the double bacon cheeseburger. Was gone literally in minutes. We shared the house made deep fried potato chips with Nacho cheese and toppings. 100% great. Not something you'd want to eat everyday. Staff at my Facility ordered lunch today from Wayback Burgers on 137 ave. Big mistake - The orders were for Eight folks and all came in one browm paper bag from Skip The Dishes. The Onions were still in serving trays and not covered - Wayback go to Costco and buy some go to containers!!! gheez you guys are suposed to be in the business. The milkshakes were missing and the burgers and fries were "not very good". Every one of the staff members who ordered said "never again - pay high prices for mediocre food and missing items". Avoid at all costs!! The worst customer service I have ever seen in my life. We were the only table seated there, with 4 people working. Was told that it would be a 20 minute wait because their "system" was down. We waited for 45 MINUTES before asking for a refund and leaving. The person at the till was ignorant enough to blame the cook, saying that the cook said we already ate. After all that time, they never even started to cook our orders. The worst restaurant in Edmonton, hands down. The owners should be embarrassed. read more

Stopped by while I was passing through downtown, and it was easily one of the best experiences I've ever had. I was greeted by wonderful waiters, a well designed restaurant, and a clean, welcoming environment. The food here was wonderful as well. The milkshakes are easily my favorite part about this restaurant, but the burgers and fries were exceptional as well. I made my own burger, and the meat was cooked perfectly. The fries were also nice and crispy, making a great addition to my meal. I will definitely be returning here, and I would strongly recommend anyone who hasn't been here before to come here on their next time outing. read more

Will not be back. Staff not overly friendly. You are not given the choice of what goes on your burger that took 40 minutes to make. The burger san so long on the counter before being plated it was not even warm. Burger was tasteless other than the condiments, but patty was maybe 2/3 the size of the bun. Poutine had very toppings. It really looks like a lack of training as most were standing around doing nothing. Where was the management to oversee all these young people? I wish you good luck, you will need it. read more

The Cheesesteak was on a cold bun and the cheese consisted of slices on the bun that the beef was put on, it's not cooked with the beef to melt, nor is it liquid like some cheesesteaks in USA. Milk shake was awful, ordered strawberry...it was an off-white color with very weak strawberry flavor (I could not find any chunks of strawberry in it) and noticeable chunks of snowlike ice like you find in freezer burned ice cream. read more
