One of the only water parks here in Yuma. But there's more to do as well. Such as go-cart racing, miniature golf, as well as an arcade and bar area. We arrived early for a birthday party. The host family paid our admission, and we paid for food. The food was the usual fair food and decently priced and tasteful. The water park? Lots of options; such as a lazy river and, of course, the tube rides! The lifeguards were on their game; helpful, friendly, and watchful. There was a section for toddlers, and a section everyone could enjoy. Yes, a section for the wet bar as well. They had shaded, seated areas for rent, but we grabbed two free table areas upon arrival. There was a nice mix of music and people, and everyone seemed to get along. Overall; great time. A little bit on the pricey side, but you get your money's worth, especially as the heat rises. Went to Waylon's Water World for my father-in-law's company picnic. He works in El Centro; my husband, daughter and I live in San Diego. For a small water park, it was a lot of fun and refreshing in 100+ degree temps. I'm giving the park only four stars for the following: - The concrete surrounding the park gets HOT. It would have been nice to not have to wear pool shoes, which weigh you down in the water, but at this park they are a must-have, unless you want to burn your feet. They really should consider treating the concrete with some kind of cooling agent or something. I'm sure there's something out there for that purpose. I saw so many kids (and adults, for that matter) running around trying to avoid burning their feet. That just sounds like a lawsuit waiting to happen. - Would be nice to have more shady areas, particularly near the lounge chairs along the left wall where you first enter the park. Again, it was a blazing hot day and although we were fortunate to have the shady rear area of the park near the big slides reserved for our group, others weren't so fortunate. - The lounge chairs were dirty and could use a good cleaning or at least a good spray-down - There were a lot of kids splashing around in the Lazy River when I was floating on it just trying to relax. I'm guessing this is because there wasn't really a dedicated pool for splashing around and playing? Unless you count the one by the slides, toward the kiddie pool, but that one wasn't very deep and it was more of an entry/exit point than an actual pool for swimming/playing. I'm not sure if the park is worth $25 per adult. Seems a bit steep especially considering how small the park is. I would probably go there later in the afternoon to get the discounted price. Bottom line, though, we still had fun. If you're in the Yuma/El Centro area and looking for a fun place to beat the scorching desert heat, Waylon's Water World is a great idea. We Have season passes this year and the park has closed about 3 hours before dusk 3 weekends in a row. Today there was NO bartender at the bar due to forgetting to schedule somebody. Tajin for drinks have been out for over 2months in main bar and lower water park bar. Product costs less than $3. No cups for water to drink while no bartender. No one there seems to care about service. I have been coming here since Robert built the place. This is the worst I have ever seen it. It all starts at the top. Compared to other water parks I've been to, this isn't too bad for the small city of Yuma, however after seeing the grand re-opening of the park, I saw some disappointing things here and there. 1. Lifeguards only let one group of people down one out of three slides that go down into a big pool. If the park ever gets packed that line is going to be ridiculous. I understand letting people make it down to the pool for each slide but making people wait for the other slides that aren't being used is pointless to me. 2. The lounge chairs that circle the lazy river are the same ones from the last time the park was open and most of them were broken. 3. We were told we could rent lockers down by the gift shop which was closed the whole day. 4. There were was no where to buy drinks or food by the water park, other than up at the restaurant which is pretty nice. All in all the kids had fun which is the main part but I think there is still some work to do to make it a great park. read more

Since you can find all of their pricing info on their website, I am not going to spend my time on that and will get straight to the punch and then give my impression. There are 4 main slides for the 13+ crowd. There is also a lazy river and 2 areas for the kids. One area is for around 6-12 year olds, and the other area is for very small kids and/ or individuals that need special assistance. There are also lockers, plenty of lounging chairs, an outdoor bar, cabanas for $75 each, and a first aid area. Now for my impression: This is currently more of a place for families and kids (maybe 17 or younger). As a grown man, I still had fun on the slides and lazy river, but it was time to go after about two hours. The best slides are definitely the green and orange ones! They were decent compared to ones I've been on at Knott's Berry Farm/ Soak City Waterpark. There is room for improvement, as the lines are a bit disorganized without signs and the concrete is HOT... so take some sandals with you if you don't want your feet to burn while waiting in line! The cabanas are quite pricy for what you get- just some chairs under a tented area. Maybe a Vegas-style cabana would be worth $75. Drink prices were not cheap at $4.50 for a virgin margarita and $4 for a can of imported beer. All in all, Waylon's Water World is a great addition to Yuma! Families and teenagers are going to love it! I hope that the second and third phase of the scheduled construction will appease the 18+ crowd. read more

The Idea of putting a water world in Yuma is the best ever. The execution of this one, is terrible. Many people have been raving about this place, but it isnt because it is good - it is because a place like this was needed. The activities are fun, but it is only good/big enough to entertain kids for about 2 hours. So a whole day pass is redundant, and quite expensive. "With over 15 slides and tube attractions.." boasts the website, and I count 4 real attractions, 3 on a kid playground and the rest is the kind for toddlers and are about 12 feet long. What really got to me is the lazy river that was 100 degrees, and congested since people choose to hang out in it in the few shaded places. Such behaviour should be midigated by employees, but quite the opposite. The only place you can get an adult beverage is far from the lockers, which is absolutely horribly designed. The "cabanas" is also a joke.. to call it that. What it is, is a human storage facility with a shade on it. Wall to wall, that ensures absolutely no privacy at all even at normal conversation volume. I enjoyed going to Waylan's water world. There are three main waterslides and the lines were not existent when I went. The green slide is the best. You shoot down a giant pipe in an inter-tube right into an enormous toilet bowl. Then you get launched around the bowl a couple times, only to be flushed into another enormous pipe and out to the lazy river. I went on every slide 2-3 times in a 2 hour period, which is about what you could accomplish in 8 hours at Knotts Soak City. There is also a bar in the middle of the lazy river - I enjoyed a bloody-mary as I floated into oblivion. I recommend going after 2:00 p.m. to take advantage of the 1/2 day price because it's still very hot at 2:00 p.m. in Yuma and the park doesn't even close until 7:00 p.m. Realistically, adults who go here without their children will be ready to leave this place after 2-3 hours anyways. The kids might want to stay longer because there is a kids play area with a bunch of kids slides. I had a chance to look at the Cabanas and they are a total gouge at $75.00. Don't do it unless you are rich and you like wasting money on garbage. Also, the park is fairly small and I would think twice about going here on a hot and crowded day. Reservations for 20 were made weeks before tonight (New Years Eve) for dinner and drinks. Keep in mind our two female servers were wonderful, however the majority of our food was COLD coming out of the kitchen many dishes with missed requests. Many had to be sent back and others just cancelled it all together. The place have very few patrons. Average bill per couple was $70-$80. Not a good night for our dinner party. Won't happen again. We visited the water park with another family and brought along a 1, 2 and 3 year old. There was enough variety in the park to keep everyone happy and entertained, including us big kids. We went on a 108 degree day, and the water temperature was perfect; however, the concrete became VERY hot. Water shoes are a MUST. The admittance fee we felt was a little high at $25 per adult (kids under 3 are free). Food was good and priced reasonably ($18 for 16" pizza). A small but nice waterpark. It seemed clean and well maintained. This was our preschoolers first waterpark and he loved it. They had several slides and play areas for little ones to enjoy. The lockers were incredibly steep at $10 each with a $5 refund if you return the key. The woman who was running the cash register was also very occupied and we waited several minutes to pay our entry fee even though we were the only ones in line (she was on an extended phone call). My husband and I went on a play date recently, and had fun here. I was delighted with the decor--it's very steampunky, and worth the visit just to go in and look around. The little kid AND the artist in me loved the bathrooms with the wide faucets and industrial surroundings. I went down some of the slides. If you're claustrophobic in the least, stick to the biggest one. It gets humid in the tubes, and the air can feel suffocating. The trip down is fast, but if you don't like closed in places, the middle tube may give you some anxiety. The lazy river was great. When the crowd is thinner, it's a great place to walk against the current. I recommend going early in the day. We got there a little after 10am, and the place was quiet. It started filling up around 1:00pm or so. Wear water shoes. We never had an issue with burning concrete because we wore them. If you go to the restaurant, try the parmesan french fries. Wow. The people are all friendly, too. The only real down-side is the entry fee and the ban on outside water. $25/per person is steep, and making patrons buy water is not cool. read more

OK, so when I lived in Yuma, all we had was cactus jacks, if anyone remembers this place. So awesome accomplishment to the owners who took a huge risk in putting this up. This water park is very fun. My family and I had a great time riding the huge slides and playing in the playground area. The problems we encountered were the staff, were good at guarding but were kinda rude, like they didnt want to be there. The orange sslide, you can go down as a family of four with a large raft. We got set up on the platform and the asshole life guard purposely shifted our raft so I was facing back towards the tube. While setting up we asked for him to not do so and he smirked and did it anyways. Pretty rude, considering my family didnt want that because the last time it happened we almost flipped upside down. My son dropped a towel on the canopy above the cabanas. So I asked the life guard who sitting in a chair upstairs texting, if she could help me get it. She said a maintnenance man needs to and then proceeded to text. I asked if she could call someone and she got up and staired around the park to see if there was anyone and said iI don't see anyone. I looked at her and said, I'll get someone who can really help me. Sorry to interrupt. 15 to 20 minutes Iater, i found someone on my own. Overall the park was really fun. I wish the concrete was treated for the heat, because it was like a pizza stone out there. We had to rush for shade or jump for water because it was so damn hot. They should post a recommendation for water shows. I think if they had walkie talkies and a lot more organization skills, it would have been even better experience this time. We waited 30 minutes only to watch a group walk up, get balls and clubs and pay for golf. So much for top of the list. We asked the customer service man and he said they were first. This was our first time at the park and overall it was ok. Employees are rude. I was with my two young children and I always travel with water bottles for them. I brought two in with me and was told that they don't allow water bottles because some people sneak in alcohol. Totally understandable but at the same time water doesn't have an odor so if they suspect it has alcohol why not just ask to open the bottle so the employee can check? Simple! One guy, didn't get his name but was the only heavy set African American there, yelled at my 7 year old son to stop running and go back. Mind you its 100+ degree weather and being that it was our first time there we didn't realize how hot the pavement gets. We left our sandals by our chairs. My husband told the guy. Simply ask him to walk not to go back being that his feet were already BURNING!!!! Then right after the guy goes and dips his feet in the water and he had shoes on! I purchased season passes to Waylon's Water World with the intentions of utilizing the pass in the early morning weekday hours with my small children (ages 2 and 3) to avoid the crowd on the weekends. Shortly after we purchased the passes they changed their hours to only weekends. On top of it all the closed for the season an entire month early! They originally said they were closing October 8th now they just posted online that they are closing after Labor Day, the last weekend of August!!!! Talk about deceitful! Poor business decisions! Obviously the heat of Yuma in the summer will lead you to water, but that doesn't mean it's worth jumping in. The idea of a water park in theory is great but the execution was so poorly done that I would rather go buy a blow up rainbow slide and a silly octopus for my sprinkler. Average summer temps of 110 lead me to think that cool decking the surface area of the park might have been a good idea. There is really no surface that is hospitable to naked feet. The concrete steps up to all the water slides were so hot you had to run up them, try to walk in the shade of the metal handrail ( yes the handrails are made of metal- hot metal at 115), or take a break and stand on your tube. Also, where there is water pooling on the decks you will find patrons scrambling to cool their feet when walking to another slide. Beware though these spots are covered in algae and are extremely slippery. My daughter fell, I slipped and then saw several others take a spill. I notified a staff member so they could put up a sign; two hours later when I left, no sign and a lot more people on their bums. Don't get me wrong this oasis in the desert is fun and if I could go again for a lot less $ I would. However, to really enjoy it I would 1. Bring water shoes. They are worth the money and the fashion fail to save your feet. 2. Go early before it gets too warm. It wasn't bad from 10-11:30 and then the kids just wanted to play in the lazy river so they didn't burn their feet. The staff were friendly, helpful and great at monitoring for safety. I felt comfortable that the kids were safe even when I couldn't see them which is a plus. I'm hoping that since this is phase one the management will make some changes as they expand the park. This place is a BLAST! Great attention to detail, fun themes, very family and safety-oriented, well-staffed & well maintained. I went there in March with my grandkids, ages 7 & 12, and there was plenty to keep them entertained. The lines were nonexistent, though I'm told that it can get crowded during the peak season. The only negative comment I have is the lack of consideration for anyone who only wants to escort, and not play in the water. My 80+ year old parents took us to the park and ended up paying full price ($145 for the 5 of us) even though they made it clear that they had no intention of going in the water...maybe a senior discount, or lower rate for escorts? The price was very steep for our group of eight, considering the size of the park. The concrete was extremely hot, my husband burned his feet. There was a lack of shade, so we purchased a cabana area which was extremely expensive but we had small children with us that needed to be out of the sun. My grandkids loved all the slides and tubes and lazy river. The concrete was so hot; I'm surprised we all didn't have blisters on our feet! I recommend water shoes for any future visitors. The lockers are upstairs, then you have to walk down HOT concrete steps (and then back up again) when you leave. The kids had to carry the heavy rafts up the steps to get to the tubes. The girl working at the bar was too busy texting to wait on the kids that wanted drinking water. But we all had a blast, it is a great place to visit; but I recommend the 1/2 day rate; as you can't afford this every weekend as a family outing. read more

Took 20 minutes to get a soda at a bar in the center island. I was the only customer. Saw they had a "senior discount" asked what age is considered "senior" answer was "I don't know".
