The theater has an intimate quality which enhances live performances. The audience is enthusiastically involved. Parking confused me because the lots say faculty only or students only, but then I realized...it's summer! All the lots are open to OLO. OLO: I can't rave enough about it! We get season passes every year and thoroughly enjoy every show. We also enjoy the pre-performance lectures which teach about lyric opera itself, a composer, or the historical period represented. The repertoire each season is varied--always having Gilbert and Sullivan; usually having Broadway musicals we fondly remember, this year, 2026, My Fair Lady (Alfred P. Doloittle, played by Niko Theriault, brought the house down!); as well as showcasing gems from Vienna, France, Germany, England, and American composers. I have to give a special shout out to Spencer Reese, who is the choreographer for the company. During his tenure, the quality, beauty and athleticism of the dancing has gone from neighborhood theater quality to world class quality. I am always impressed! You will enjoy yourself! The talent assembled is remarkable when you consider this is a relatively small company performing in a tiny Midwestern college town. The art direction, costuming, and set design is always impressive, and the performances at Freedlander Theatre are welcoming and intimate rather than feeling cramped or overwhelming. If you can, I strongly encourage you to attend the pre-show lectures, held 1 hour before each performance, where they talk about the history of the production you're going to see, and provide samples of the music.

I have to take issue with one reviewer who declared the prices to be "through the roof." That is a totally unfair characterization. A privately owned store will not have the bulk purchasing that G-center will and prices on some items will be slightly higher. I would note, however that Larry's carries some beautiful high-end instruments. (especially Taylors) They also carry a nice selection of more economical instruments. What they DON'T carry is substandard instruments that exist only for their price tags. A guitar that falls apart is no bargain. They also carry a nice selection of quality ukuleles that will last without breaking the bank. (Lanakai) I would like to see them carry some Kamaka ukes someday. Let's not forget Reverend and Deusenberg guitars in the electric department. (standing O for carrying those.) One last comment: Brad is developing a nice inventory of vintage instruments that merit serious consideration. Don't get sucked up by guitar center. BUY LOCAL!

Everything else was great all the way up till we walked into the cinema, and it smelled moldy and musty, we had a big floresent overhead, light, just beaming down on us until the movie started. The seating wasn't as bad ,but the other seating in the other movies a heavy set person can not sit in there. They should start putting in reclining seats, or make available at least 3 of the movie that way.

Most of our group chose 4-6 wines to try so our table looked a bit crazy with all the glasses. The one downside was that the employee who helped us was relatively new and had us do our tastings from sweet to dry, instead of dry to sweet. She did say that she was trained this way but it threw me off. Luckily, the owner came in and we were able to ask some questions. When I questioned the thought process of going from sweet to dry - he quickly corrected our remaining samples and made a note to do some retraining. I enjoyed that this was a family owned winery. Even the kids were studying subjects in college to allow them to be part of the business as well. I loved the theme of time. Our group ended up leaving with several bottles and I would definitely recommend this winery to others.
