The atmosphere was fun but a little old-fashioned. I actually liked that because it reminded me of the skate parties I used to go to when I was a kid. All the staff were friendly and really cared about the customers. The skate patrol even checked on kids who fell to make sure they were okay. I spoke with the owner during our visit, and he told me how hard Covid was for small businesses like his. You can tell they are trying to save money and keep the rink open. The building could use a facelift in some places, but it didn't take away from our fun. For a snack, we ordered a pizza and some pretzels. The food was okay--nothing special--but the kids were happy with it. They ate quickly and went right back to skating. We could tell the kids were having a blast. Overall, it was a great family experience and I would visit again. I recommend Medina Skateland if you want a fun, friendly place to take your kids skating.

Fortunately, it's under new management. They've already started making changes to the equipment, attractions, and attitudes of the employees. Upon my last visit, I noticed that more than a few machines were not working. It definitely seems like a "pardon our dust while we attend to a lot of deferred maintenance" situation. So, sit tight while Rome gets rebuilt. I will say, despite the work in progress, my 7 year old and I had a LOT of fun. Before warned this ice rink is not a fully enclosed indoor ice rink. On one of the walls there are…read moretarps and a chain link fence that separate the ring from the outside so it is not a full four season rink. While it is almost an hour to drive to get there, they do have a great snack stand and pro Shop. The rental skates are actually halfway decent. The team locker rooms are also very well heated and compared to some other locker rooms I've seen are actually relatively pleasant. They still stink like hockey players though. The stands do have radiant heaters overhead but it is cold as hell in there so if you're going to go watch a hockey game there or your kid practice do yourself a favor and dress like you're going to go hang out outside for a couple of hours because you will be solidly frozen by the time you leave. Parking is a little confusing as there are probably 40 spots right in front of the the rest of them are around the side and back and you have to trudge all the way back over to the front to go in.
