My husband has been talking about this place from his childhood, and he couldn't ever remember what it was. All he could remember was the good memories he had at this store. We finally found it and took a trip there the next day! It did not disappoint. He was so giddy: like an actual kid in a candy store!! The store was clean, the worker was kind, and we were able to take our time looking around at everything. I highly recommend taking a short trip here.

My parents used to take us to the Country Store growing up. A nice drive that I have very fond memories of. Then sometime in the '80s we completely stopped going. I have no idea why. It wasn't terribly far away and my Dad loves sour pickles and we used to always get pickles every trip. Well, for whatever reason we stopped going and as I got older my memories of this place became vague. I wasn't even sure if the place still existed. All I could remember was a store with lots of stuff and candy. It had these giant pickle barrels which I remember being wooden. In fact, my memory is of the whole store being wooden. Vague memory of an older gentleman who worked there. Ahhh... if only I could have 15 minutes back in the mid-seventies to pop into this store with my adult eyes. Decades went by. My Dad now gets his pickles at D'Agostino's in Arlington and I always wished we could go back to the store with the wooden barrels. Finally, the time came. My mother, sadly, went to a hospice which just happened to be near the old Country Store. I talked this place up to my husband and I insisted we stop by before our trip back to Florida. Well... it looked nothing like I remembered. I don't remember the large attached candy area. I knew there was candy but I didn't know there was CANDY. In the other part of the store, the one from my youth, the floors are rickety and squeaked with my weighted steps. It was cramped and full of gift items and knick-knacks. And the pickle barrels are still there!!!! But absolutely NOTHING like I remember. There are wooden barrels but the pickles are in this red monstrosity. We had a lot of fun picking out candy. I'm pretty sure we'll visit the Country Store on all future trips to Massachusetts.

So I have been driving by this location for years on the way to the BFF's house right up the street, we always talk about going & never seem to get to it... Today we went to take a visit & they were closed (530), so instead we hung out back & fed the Ducks on Hager Pond... There is a little Gazebo (Be on the Lookout for all the "Poop" - Its Everywhere!!!)... But the ducks are cute, they will come up to you (we had 2 2year olds & they had a blast) and are not too aggressive... And the View is Beautiful all out across the pond... **Beware** If you are driving there based on the directions link from Yelp be careful, its links you to a different address, I tried to check in & it told me I was 3 miles away when clearly I was in the parking lot... (I also had this problem with another location yesterday, so I dont know if Google Maps is messing up or the connection from Yelp to Maps is messed up - But I got lost based on the map last night & couldnt figure out where I was)... We will definitely come back & Hopefully make the store next time... She has been going for years and said they have the greatest little trinkets & Candy...

Candy, fudge, knick knacks and really friendly & nice staff. They had old school candy and some of my favs, Poprocks, Nerds & Jelly bellys. If you have a sweet tooth, this place is for you.

This is an awesome place to browse and or find "the perfect" unusual gift. You could literally spend hours in this place and not see everything. There is everything from collectibles, to food stuff, to children's toys & games to jewelry and kitchen supplies. This does not include the candy shop which has everything from "penny candy" to hand dipped chocolates, fudge, make your own M&M mix, fill your own sugar candy vial, even candy making supplies. The original building was moved to this area by Henry Ford and he and his wife actually worked here for a time-how cool is that? This can be an outing destination, as there is a good restaurant in the plaza (Stephen Anthonys), an awesome bakery (Madrid) and just down the road is Wayside Inn, a great place for a walk and you can even explore the Grist Mill and take some photos.

The Wayside Country Store has the best candy shop I've seen in a long time. It's a big, old fashioned, shop. It reminds me of the shop in Sturbridge that closed down years ago. It's a little pricey, but worth every penny. There's more to the country store than candy though. It's also an old-fashioned general store with gifts, toys, cooking utensils, etc. The toys and games are on the second floor. It's a beautiful old building. I think it might be a landmark. They sell Winfrey's fudge. I'm not sure who makes their chocolates.

Skybar is literally the best chocolate candy bar in the world…read more A couple years ago when NECCO went under, a small kitchen/food store named Duck Soup acquired the Skybar recipe, intellectual property and production equipment at auction. It took some time but they eventually expanded their space and got the bars back into production. I waited far too long to visit!! They taste amazing. To me, there are some minor differences in flavor to the original - the most notable being the caramel. It is now more noticeably salted however its thinner and tastes better quality than the Necco original. The vanilla section doesn't seem as strong in flavor as the original. However I believe the quality of the milk chocolate is better. I believe the pros outweigh the cons and its amazing they are even available!! This space is a combination production and retail space with a glass barrier leaving the customer full view of the process! There's also a bunch of swag for sale as well. If you love or even just like Skybars, you need to show your support and head out here to buy some candy and merch!!!

With so many closings all over the country of restaurants & iconic places; it's nice to hear the word RESCUED back in our Vocabulary once again. Do I hear The Martha & The Vandella's song "Dancing in he Street" playing in the background. LOL! In 1938 The Necco Candy Company an American Candy Company located in Boston introduced the world to The Sky Bar Candy Bar. It became extremely popular in its heyday as well as a fan favorite of the 60s, 70s, 80s generations. In 2018 The Necco Candy Company filed for bankruptcy & closed its doors. People were very sad & upset about the news - one of the oldest Candy companies in America was out of business. Well the name Sky Bar went up for Auction. Louise Mawhinney bought the name Sky Bar & it was Rescued. Louise also Rescued another company next door called Duck Soup a few years back. Well Louise thought that was it. Well as fate would have it Louise ended up meeting one of the former employees of Necco Jeff Green VP of Necco & he told her she could make the candy herself. Necco had old machines. This brand new small facility is totally high tech & produces FRESH Sky Bars. It is both a manufacturing facility & a retail store all in one in Mill Village in Sudbury MA. The Sky Bar has 4 sections each with a different filling Caramel, Vanilla, Peanut ( Teddie Peanut Butter another Boston company) & Fudge all covered in Milk Chocolate. They make a new batch every couple of days so they are probably the Best Sky Bars you have ever tasted - Fresh as can be. Every Saturday at 11 AM they make the Sky Bars & you can watch through the glass windows the whole candy making process for FREE. It's like a Giant 3D Printer. They also make them 2 or so times during the week at the 11 AM time slot as well. You can call & find out what days they are making the candy during the week that you are coming here. They also sell Merch with Sky Bar T Shirts & Baseball Caps. There is a vintage video of the old Necco candy making facility you can watch too. They even have a model train that circles the store. All the Sky Bars are stacked in the original Necco wooden crates which is So Cool! You can purchase the bars individually in the store for $1.98 each & you can also order a box of 24 online. They also sell a lot of other Retro Candy & Merch in here too. There is Free Parking in the back. I talked to one of the employees in here & they told me people have driven 2 & 1/2 hours just to come here & buy their favorite candy bar Sky Bar that they thought was gone forever & said it was totally worth the trip! It used to be, you had to have mega bucks & be really rich to have the Good Life, not anymore. The Game has changed. You've been Upgraded. Now You Can Live Like a King on a Limited Budget!
