The office staff did not explain the costs fully and told me that part of the cost of the procedure would be "written off" which was not reflected on my statement and I am waiting to find out if this is true or if I will be billed for this portion. I was seen promptly when I arrived and felt more relaxed in just a few minutes. Dr. Gamson is gifted - finding common interests to distract patients in a charming manner - and at the same time explaining what he is doing and what to expect. Also, it's clear he's a top notch expert when it comes to root canals. I had no pain during the procedure - just a bit of sting with the shots. The root canal immediately addressed the radiating pain. I was so relieved that an experience I expected to be horrible was not - and I enjoyed Dr. Gamson's charming chatter, which distracted me from my fears. The office staff was efficient and helped me understand the insurance coverage situation. Also, the office and treatment rooms have unique art displayed that I enjoyed learning about. I went in really anxious because of past dental trauma and also in pain with an infection, and I was overthinking everything, but they were all super patient with me the whole time. I moved to Russett in 2020, and I kept going all the way back to Wheaton for my dentist through 2023. My girlfriend recommended her dentist Colesville Dentistry, and she was right! I first arrived here in May 2024, then November 2024, & most recently May 2025. Wow, this dentist is top notch, blows the Wheaton dentist I had out of the water. The staff is friendly, efficiently gets you in. Dr. Chai, other dentists, & technicians have been friendly doing a great job with the cleanings as well as advise on better dental habits. Also, this is a state of the art dental office. When you are lying on the dental chair, there is a TV screen above you with high definition nature scenes which is peaceful when the dentist isn't exactly the most pleasant experience even with Colesville Dentistry being the best case scenario goes as far as the dentist goes. They have great technology with computer modeling of my teeth & more, which the prior dentist I had fell short. There was a white bubble on my gum indicating an infection, and I had literally taken an x-ray at my dentist's office a few days ago but Dr. Chan insisted on taking his own x-ray and ignoring the one I brought from my dentist. Later, of course he had charged me the fee for an x-ray that was NOT needed. I had no choice but to pay. Aside from trying to wring as much as he could out of my insurance, that wasn't even the worst of it. When he was checking on my tooth infection, he was pressing quite hard on my gum to the point where I had to exclaim at him to stop. Why would you so carelessly and roughly prod at your patient's infection? The admin staff was so nice; Liz and Iris treated me with respect and made me feel right at ease. My consultation was done by Dr. Luke Cantamessa. He was so thorough and listened to me stating my issues. I needed the procedure to be done right away. Luckily, Dr. Kim Menhenick had an early opening. I took it and I'm so happy that I did. She was so professional and nice and made me feel so comfortable. In fact, I didn't feel anything, no pain. She talked me through the entire procedure which helped my anxiety. They used a CBCT scan to perfectly identify where and what the problem was. Then they used this amazing machine called Gentle Wave which cleans out the inside of the tooth. Not many practices have such a machine. The assistant, Sherry, was also very professional. She handled those instruments with such ease! When the procedure was over, Dr. Menhenick went over what to expect. She also said that if I had any questions to contact the office. On my way out I grabbed a granola bar and a juice box, complimentary of course! My whole experience was top rated. No one wishes for a root canal. So I asked my brother how Dr. Jafari was and the review was glowing, which means a lot considering that my brother may be the worlds biggest chicken. He said, "You're an idiot if you don't go see Dr. Jafari." So I did. And my brother was right. My tooth was a borderline call whether or not to do the root canal. Dr. Jafari went out of his way - patiently - to educate me on my options, risks, benefits, costs, etc. I made the call to go forward with the root canal with the knowledge that I made an educated decision, which, once Dr. Jafari got deep into the procedure, ended up being the right decision too. And, with all that said ... and all the hype and scary stories you hear about root canals, it ended up being about as painless of a procedure as possible.
