I've used Weber's for broken glass repair before but this was the first time for some larger scale work. Larry and his people made it an easy decision to go with him for the work on our home. This place delivers on great service and great prices. I took in a large piece of glass to have cut down into shelves. They had the glass cut down and edges smoothed in about 10 minutes and it only costed about $15. What a deal! I haven't spent that little on anything in a long time! Webers is also great for repairing broken window panes rather you bring them in or they have to do it on site webers is priced right and do a wonderful job. read more

My mother contracted with Weber Paint to fix a house she owns after the bottom floor and basement was destroyed in the Cedar Rapids flood of 2008. We contracted with the business in 2010. She was told that the work would be finished by July 1, 3 months after construction started. As of September 1, the house was still gutted. The business proprietor/contractor claimed that the delay was caused by city dragging its feet on paperwork. He then requested more money. By December of 2010, a front porch had been built. The porch had a 24 degree slope from back to front. When informed of a trip hazard violation by the assigned code inspector, the business owner/contractor claimed that the the slope had been on the original porch, and the house owners had asked that this be retained. He also said that the front door of the lower duplex was "no longer being used" and that a porch railing was being installed in place of the concrete steps. He then installed this "railing" by means of nailing a pair of two-by-fours over the columns at the porch on top of the steps. The original porch had no noticeable slope. Further, the house owner had not requested this feature be installed. At this point, the interior of the house was still gutted. A small amount of electrical work and plumbing had been done, but according to city inspectors, the wiring and water-pipes had been constructed in a way that they constituted both a fire- and electrocution hazard and would need to be redone in order to meet code. The proprietor/contractor then asked to be paid more money before he continued work on the house. It was about this point that my mother attempted to fire him. She had been advised to do this on multiple occasions before this, and in fact in September she set up a meeting with the proprietor of Weber Paint for the purposes of discontinuing service with him. Unfortunately, I made the mistake of allowing her to go to this meeting alone. She went in with every apparent intention of ceasing association with Weber Paint, and came out cheerfully informing me that once he finished work on the house, he had agreed to take over managing the rental property for only a 10% cut, isn't that GREAT?! (She had originally bought the house because she expected my sisters and/or myself to live in it, and is uncomfortable with the work involved in screening potential renters and acting as a landlord.) As it turned out, firing him proved more difficult that expected. Because FEMA money does not apply to rental properties of any kind, the money to fix the house was being provided by a loan from the Small Business Union, and they said that Weber Paint should be given 6 more weeks to finish the work, and then the house would need to be inspected again to see if it made code. During that time, no further work was done by Weber Paint. At the end of that time, multiple city inspectors as well as one or two prospective new contractors agreed that the work was not done, and what work had been completed failed to meet code. At this point, the Small Business Union and the City of Cedar Rapids agreed to allow my mother to fire Weber Paint as a contractor, and hire a new one. A few weeks after successfully firing them, my mother received a call from a receptionist at Weber Paint informing her that she owed them four thousand more dollars. I do not know whether or not she paid this sum. The new contractor finished the work in about six weeks. That included undoing and then redoing the wiring and plumbing, and repairing the porch such that it met code. Given what I have experienced with this company, I strongly advise against hiring Weber Paint in its capacity as a construction contractor for any kind of extended project. If you want someone to cut you some glass for $15, it seems Cory's had a good experience, so hey. read more
