A true "chip and put", the course is well laid out and challenging without too many distractions, bells and whistles. But the amazing part is how gorgeous the course is! On the back 9 you forget you're on a busy main road and can just appreciate the scenery, nice landscaping and adorable plant life around each hole. As for the golf, like I said, it's not too easy and its difficulty isn't caused by anything like an impossible obstacle - just good, simple, tricky layouts. Took us about an hour and we were the only people there (got there when it opened) - great experience and will be back next year for sure!

After driving through the backroads and sleepy town of Saco, Maine we finally arrived at the Boom…read moreField disc golf course at about 9AM. The owner wasn't there but an older man who lives in a house on the property let us know where to leave our green fee ($5, we left $10 for both of us) and get a scorecard. He even walked us to the first tee. The course itself is nice, very green, well maintained. The baskets could be better marked though, some were hard to find. The longest hole is 750 feet and let me tell you, it was epic. There was no one there when we went so we had the course to ourselves, which was nice. I could see it getting very cramped if there were more than 2 or 3 games going on at once. Finally there were scary hawk birds (picture!) and death mosquitoes that became imposing by hole 12, which became a deciding factor in our decision to call it quits after about 2 hours of playing.

We showed up and no one was at the booth, but we heard voices on the course and figured they could tell us how this worked. We were directed to were we could borrow discs from and off we went. Took us a little bit to figure out how to throw the disc, but we soon caught on. My son (9yrs old) and I had such a fun time that after we played 18 holes we grabbed something for dinner and returned with friends for yet another 18 holes. I should mention that when we finished the first 18 holes the owners were at the booth with an assortment of discs both new and used. My son and I both got a set of discs. We figured we'd both start off with a Driver and Putter. My son and I plan on becoming regulars at this course and we plan on introducing many of our friends to this sport. Fantastic activity and everyone we met on the course were so friendly and helpful to us. I certainly hope that all Disc Courses are like this. If not, we certainly found a gem at Boom Field. Intermediate/Advanced players will join the beginners group to help coach while playing. The whole environment is great. Highly recommended- especially for players new to the sport.
