Paddy sat me down for an interview with great probing questions ("Why golf?" "Why now?"). He then took me out for the initial go-through with the approach of "I'm not going to teach anything right now: just show me what you think a golf swing is." From there he observed and, from there, gently introduced the concepts of proper swing mechanics, by way of completely relatable real life anecdotes. Just an awesome experience, so much so that I plunked down for the 6-for-5 lesson plan. At Golf Learning Center, there is ZERO pressure, ZERO judgement and ZERO intimidation, and I could not dream of a more perfect way to start my journey into this beautiful game.

However, if you're looking for a quiet place to relax in the sun you won't find it here. The children are abundant and have pretty much zero regard for those around them. They bring trash into the pool (candy wrappers, bandaids, etc.), spray people with water guns or pool noodles even away from the pool, will jump over or even onto unsuspecting pool goers, and are naturally quite loud. Though this is of course not the fault of the establishment, I think it's important for patrons to know before coming for a day in the pool. The staff checks the chlorine/chemical levels in the pool and hot tub every couple hours to maintain cleanliness and are generally very kind and helpful The poolside restaurant is expensive but that's to be expected for a country club -- drinks are delicious and adequately strong with friendly bar tenders/cooks. I have found that there is plenty of parking, seating, and towels available. Enjoy your time, but be wary of the little ones!

They have a great 18 hole course but word to the wise this is not a great course for newer players. If you have tossed the disc a few times this course should fall into a medium difficulty. The great thing about this course is the owners are trying to have a fun, clean course that involves a few different tricks instead of the typical "can you huck it far" approach. Six dollars to play all day, bring your bug spray, a bottle of water and a six pack to share with your friends. And don't forget your discs!

One of my favorite breakfast stops in Maine. They have the best blueberry pancakes I've ever…read moretasted. Soft, fluffy, loaded with tiny Maine blueberries... they literally melt in your mouth. They're not cheap... $13.49 for their jumbo pancake + $2.99 if you add blueberries, and who wouldn't? You also get a side of your choice of breakfast meat. On this trip I wasn't alone, so my friend & I split 1 pancake & the 3 pieces of crispy bacon that came with. The cook was kind enough to actually split the batter to make us each our own cake. Yes, the photo below is actually 1/2 of what you normally get. We still couldn't finish it! Our server, Sam, was terrific. What a wonderful personality! He was so much fun.
