Had to keep a gun on the nightstand cuz it's a shit hotel shower curtain was too small for the shower so water is all over the floor only good thing is the Taco Bell down the street hopefully it improves but it probably won't. Bad experience couldn't sleep and probably will never step foot in this abomination again.

DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL!…read more I chose this hotel not just because it seemed to be reasonably priced, but also because it has the Wyndham name associated with it and previous experiences with Wyndham properties have been positive. However, after this experience I am not sure that I want to stay at another one of their properties. It did not live up to the standard that I am sure Wyndham is known for. I should have known that things were not going well before our stay began. I sent a message via Expedia that we wanted adjoining rooms. When I had gotten no response via Expedia I called the hotel itself and requested adjoining rooms. When I called I was not even asked my name or confirmation number or anything. I was just told that we would have adjoining rooms. Then the day before our stay I filled out a check in form and on the form it asked for special requests and once again I mentioned that we wanted adjoining rooms. However, when we checked in, we were not put into adjoining rooms so we had to ask for it to be done. Also, the man checking us in was not very personable and seemed irritated to be having to deal with guests. The elevator was dingy and smelly. The rooms never really got cool even though we had the thermostats set to 65 degrees. There were water stains on the door of one of the rooms and the tub of the other bathroom wasn't really clean. During breakfast there was no one really keeping an eye on the breakfast buffet so there were bits of food on tables and the counter top where the food was. No one wore any kind of uniform or shirt identifying them as an employee. The thing that really set this hotel stay apart from some of my better experiences was that my niece accidentally left her toiletry bag in the room. She called the night we checked out and they said to call after 10am the next morning. When she called, they told her yes they had found it but that they would not ship it to her, even though she said she would pay the shipping costs. They also blocked her number when she tried to call again later so she had to have someone else call on their phone. This is hands down the WORST customer service I have ever experienced. We are guests who are paying our hard earned money to stay in your hotel and you should be doing all you can to accommodate us. I will not stay at this hotel ever and I will not recommend this hotel to anyone else. If I was Wyndham, I would get in and clean some things up and improve the customer service or they may not have this hotel for much longer.

This American Legion Post serves as a private rental hall on the top floor and a bar that serves…read morethe public on the bottom floor. I attended a celebration of life gathering in the rental hall last weekend and then stayed for a couple of drinks in the bar afterwards. The building is quite a hodge-podge of connected rooms and appears that is being maintained by volunteer maintenance people on a shoestring budget. I assume the city inspector must be a member because some of the things that I saw sure were sketchy. I would have no issues renting the hall, since I assume the rental charge is very reasonable, just not a place I would use if I was needing to impress my guests. The bar is dimly lit and cluttered but serves a potent drink on the cheap. The 2 female bartenders that I encountered were friendly enough and the clientele all seemed like regulars. If you are looking to make some friends in low places, this is where you should start. Both floors can be entered at ground level, plenty of parking and a huge cool 20th century military cannon out front.

I'm reviewing this from the point of view of it being a dive bar, so take that into consideration…read more If you don't know where this is, it's one of the hardest dives to find in Kansas City. We tried on several different occasions to find it, failing each time. We'd pull up and ask people in their yards if they knew where it was -- most knew there was was an American Legion very close by but none could say exactly where. We even had the address but that only took us to someone's house. Finally we solved the mystery... there are two parallel streets with the exact same name. One dead-ends, the other does not. We needed to be on the dead end. Once we figured that out, it was easy to find. Especially since it has a huge military cannon out front. This is probably the darkest bar I've ever been in. It also borderlines as being the most redneck. If you like hearing the 'N' word every couple of minutes, then this is your kind of bar!

They were extremely strict on what/how much you could have. Not a terribly lot of food and once the last table was called to eat, the staff immediately closed the doors to the food area. There seemed to be an abundance of food left but shut er down. Wonder what they did with all the left overs Anyway. I personally had just enough as I prefer to drink my calories but most at my table were still hungry.

Ruined Our Wedding!!…read more My wife and I got married on September 28, 2024, and we wish we had taken our money elsewhere. Russ will sweet talk you into choosing this place. Yes, it's nice and can be breathtaking, but the problem lies within the customer service on the day of the wedding. We had family and friends come from out of town to attend our wedding, some of whom had never been to Kansas City before, which made us feel very special. The night before the wedding, Russ called and informed my wife that we were over our guest list limit and needed to make an additional list of the people we really wanted to attend. My wife was up all night crying out of frustration because this was very last minute, and some people were going to be upset. The wedding day was a horrible experience! First, Russ's assistant (whose name I can't remember) was the worst! She's black. I believe she's racist against her own kind. She stirred up trouble the whole time, accusing the wedding party of smoking weed on the property. Keep in mind, weed is 100% legal, and if someone smoked it before arriving, it's their business. Second, there were no lights in the groomsmen's section due to a storm prior. When we asked if we could get a light to shave or whatever, Russ's assistant was very rude and even got mouthy with my groomsman, who showed her nothing but respect by saying "Ma'am" and "Please." Even after she was done chewing out my groomsmen over the light, she walked away, then turned back to finish chewing us out, informing us that certain things "were not her job." Her attitude eventually rubbed off on Russ, and he started talking to me like I was just a thug off the street, despite the fact that I had paid over $10k for this venue. Third, they started trying to do crowd control with our guest list by refusing to let our family and friends in. Some had traveled from out of state and could not get in because Russ's assistant didn't use the list we stayed up all night creating. Instead, she passed the list to our daughter (who doesn't work for the company and wasn't present) to retype, which resulted in a number of people being removed. They let all the older people in (50+) and told anyone who looked young that they weren't on the list, even though they were. Then there were the pictures. It took about 45 minutes to get the lights working outside for our pictures. Because they didn't let our younger family members in, a lot of older people had left before the reception even began, leaving us with a semi-empty room. My only wedding! My lifetime memory ruined by poor customer service and micromanagement. DO NOT USE THEM!! PLEASE GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!
