It made for the perfect relaxing night. There was something for everyone, with plenty of activities for both kids and adults, plus a variety of local food and drink vendors. My favorite part was exploring the greenhouse filled with gorgeous flowers, plants and vegetables. I could have spent hours browsing! I'm already looking forward to coming back again later this season and can't wait to see everything they have planned for the fall.

It's easy to stop by and check out their fresh produce, sous vide meats, preserves and jams, pies, etc... The Carpenter Family has spent 5 generations farming this area. They know their corn...They are known locally for their corn. My mother in law can not eat much corn, but she does indulge once a year with 1 corn on the cob from the Farmstand. The produce is very nice, you can see the big carrots, large potatoes, plum tomatoes, sweet watermelons, all over. They also have a nice garden center, with perennials, annuals, soil, compost, baskets, unique ready-to-go arrangements, and more, for those who like to get their hands dirty, like my husband, whose flower garden is complimented often as people walk in front of our cottage. In the Fall, they have a Corn Maze and hay rides, and opportunities for kids to roam the land, pick pumpkins and more. It's a lot of fun for the little ones. The farmstand offers local delivery for mulch, stone, gravel, loam and crushed shells, and wholesale delivery of any of their produce and meats. Many of our friends also stop frequently for their pies. They are large, freshly made and delicious. They have fresh produce, homemade jams, pies, dips, sauces etc etc. We get 5 bundles of firewood for $20 and over the summer would drive here to get their corn on the cob. This was the best corn we found all season. I recently made two big batches of corn chowder and man, was it delicious.

All of the vendors had a similar "artsy/hippie vibe" which i loved. It felt like an event more for adults than many farms that make them loud and fun for kids. This was kid friendly, but def more zen and upscale. They also had beautiful animals that were friendly and roaming very happily. It was very peaceful. I purchased some amazing lavender candles too. The alpacas are back & as adorable as ever. There's plenty of RI farms offering veggies & fruit, all local, fresh & amazing. You can also pick up beef, chicken & fish too. I picked up some eggs but wish I had brought more money since there's so much to offer. Great variety & awesome set up. The Charlestown Land Trust has outdone themselves this year & I can't wait for Friday to come again. Their website has directions but lacks a list of vendors. I was a bit overwhelmed my last visit & can't remember them all. I'd definitely recommend you check out this farmers market, it's definitely the best.

Their selection of prepared foods, including vegetarian friendly ones, is massive, and I often get a bunch on "lazy weeks" and they are such a big help with meal planning. Their fresh desserts and breads are amazing, I always get their mini bagels. I shopped the last hour of the day on a weekday most recently to avoid the usual crowds since the aisles can get tight, but almost everything was gone except cinnamon Raisin bagels (for obviously reasons lol). I was sad to see the selection so low, but I guess these are hot items and sell out earlier in the day?? I had no idea but will plan around this next time. They have a lot of interesting dairy free and vegan options in the dairy section that I don't see elsewhere, or that I saw at Belmont years before I saw in other places - they are ahead of the times! Some items here will run you $1-$2 more than they would in another grocery store though, so in the future I think I will stick to specialty items I can only find here, and will drag myself to another grocery store for my basics, because the upcharge here is a little nuts. A frozen bag of broccoli florets was at least twice if not triple the price it would be at another store, and it was a basic brand I'd never even heard of. I do love their natural self care section and what I'll call the "items perfect for gifting" section as soon as you walk through the door - I always have to smell the local lavender. There are a ton of unique sections and offerings here that make the upcharge on other items kindaaaaa worth it (if I don't think about it for too long). All in all I'm a huge fan and will continue to look forward to future trips here! A couple small areas of improvement though: - Something about their prepared foods makes them seem to go bad pretty quickly, like within 3 days - the oils just go rancid on certain things, or they start tasting off. I know prepared items don't have a long shelf life in general, and I don't know what it is about these specifically, but they seem to turn quicker than options from other places - Service is typically pretty helpful when checking out, but on my last visit, the cashier and bagger didn't even greet me and were too busy talking and laughing with each other to even really acknowledge me. I got home and realized the instant coupon on something I bought wasn't even scanned, which was annoying because that was a big reason I bought that item specifically, and it's RIGHT THERE - isn't that cashier 101 to scan the instant coupons??

Otter Point Trails is a fine gravel/sand trail great for wheeled visitors as it is fairly level, no ruts or rocks to be able to utilize the full trail and farm pond viewing. Handicap parking right at trail head as well. Farm Field Loop and Osprey Point Trails have ruts and rocks, but very mild and easy for family walk for those with kids. Throughout the walk bird song is present, plenty of chipmunks, squirrels and even rabbits during a sunny afternoon walk today. Restroom by parking lot, but no running water just hand sanitizer for use. No pets, no bikes or jogging here. It is a peaceful walk outside of loud chatty people, so please be respectful as you enjoy the refuge! Great for short out and back if you have been missing hearing the birds!
