Think glowing sunflower rooms, swirling balloon installations (like walking through a shower of balloons), lantern decorating stations, misty walkways, and tons of interactive photo ops. It gives indoor theme-park energy, so lots of walking, lots of movement, very hands-on. A few realistic notes for parents: Bring hand sanitizer. This is a highly interactive space and kids will want to touch everything. There's also mist in some areas, so if you have allergies, just be mindful. The only downsides: There was a noticeable mildew smell near the restroom area, and in one darker outdoor section I stepped into a puddle from something dripping overhead. That could've been a slipping hazard, especially for kids. I alerted staff immediately. Creativity and imagination factor? 9/10. Maintenance concerns brought it down a bit. Even with the hiccups, my kids couldn't stop talking about it afterward. It's a fun, visually stimulating experience and worth checking out at least once.

I still have the plumeria plant/tree I bought from here, as well as some souvenirs. It's a free event. There were tons of vendors. It almost looked too commercialized and touristy with so many vendors selling souvenirs; clothes, accessories, art, handicrafts, etc. They also have food vendors on the other side. The middle had an activity center where you can learn to make a lei or some sort of handmade item. The vendors imo were too scrunched up against one side of the park and the two isles of tents, people had to squeeze in between which was too hot to navigate around people. Vendor items were too pricey. Items that are made in the Philippines are sold at very high prices. The vendors say it's imported prices, however I think they probably bring these in themselves yearly from a supplier for cheap and resell for really high, because they're there every year. The only thing memorable were the performers and hula dancers on stage which we only saw for a few minutes before leaving due to the heat. The weather was EXTREMELY HOT. It is mid July, but it was SO HOT that I didn't even stay long. It was unbearable. Not much shade except those that have already been taken along the sides. I was in and out of there. People do bring canopies and tents as well as chairs, but there was no wind whatsoever. Got lucky with parking because of someone I knew was a staff next door at the college. They do have street parking if you get there early but it was already very crowded by the time it was 10:30-11a.m. It was packed. Getting in also has a long line if you want to pay for parking to borrow the part of the schools parking lot. Got there within an hour of the event starting, and already a lot of people coming and going. By 11a.m. a lot of people were already leaving and got what they wanted. I think people left due to the heatwave. Overall, too hot of an outdoor event with minimal cover from the sun. No wind, just sweaty and hot weather. Only tents were the vendors, so gotta walk around in hot air. It's a free event (just pay parking if needed). It landed during the 2026 FIFA Finals weekend so not sure how that Sunday turned out.

Walked about a block to the convention and the line was already moving ( people that came early were lining up for hours in the sun) However if u arrive a few minutes after 11 it's a breeze to walk in. It was a bit over whelming inside. Soooooo many activities. Hint come here with a plan! lol Also bring water and a portable Fan, it gets really hot inside due to the amount of ppl inside. There's so many cool horror attractions ( get there early for the horror mazes). There's a ton of cool photo ops, celebrity signings and small shops to buy from. There's plenty of food trucks outside as well as near by restaurants

My wife and I really didn't plan on going to Midsummer Scream this year - I can't stress enough how…read morelast minute we found out about it, let alone how last minute we bought tickets for it! But sometimes you just gotta leap headfirst into an adventure and hope for the best! The Midsummer Scream Halloween & Horror Convention is held yearly at the Long Beach Convention Center for one weekend in August. Friday it's from 6PM-10PM, Saturday is from 11AM-7PM, and Sunday is from 11AM-6PM. Friday tickets are $40, Saturday tickets are $57, and Sunday tickets are $52. If you're not scared to spend, you can get a weekend pass for $73. If you're truly fearless, the VIP Gold Bat Pass is $199 that gives you priority access to admission (you can enter at 10AM), priority entry for panels/presentations/attractions, commemorative lanyard/badge & pin, and admission to the Saturday night party. We bought tickets for Sunday as it was the only thing not sold out. We arrived at the convention center around 9:40AM and it was packed from all sides! There are two main entrances on both sides of the center, so it really doesn't matter which side you choose. Both sides are split into multiple general admission lines. They passed out free tote bags and there were some people in horror costumes to take pictures with. Speaking of which, if you ever wanted to let your freak flag fly high and go all out dressing up, you couldn't have picked a better place! Loads of fans came dressed up in costumes and make-up - if you think you're overdoing it, you're not! Once the doors opened, the lines were quick to be guided inside (unless you have a bag, in which case security had to clear you). The ground floor had some photo ops and some food vendors. The main convention floor is below but wheelchair accessible (lots of disabled fans were present). They had a map of the area, but honestly unless you're there for a specific thing or person, just roam around! Horror and Halloween fans galore! It gets more crowded the later it gets, so the early fan gets the worm! The Hall of Shadows is its own section and features tons of mini haunted attractions like mazes, houses, and photo-ops. Very low-light and plenty of fog machines so watch where you're going! The Screaming Room showcases short films from around the world. The Black Cat Lounge is filled with cats to pet, cuddle or adopt. Paranormal Pixie's Pumpkin Patch is a gore-free and scare-free kid corner area with performances, book readings, coloring, and other child-friendly activities. Speaking of which, children 10 and under get free general admission to the convention with a paid adult guardian (2 free kids max per adult). The show floor is the biggest area and completely covered with vendors, celebrity booths, horror-themed coffee & treats, and much much more. If you're looking for make-up, they got it. If you're looking for cheap movies to buy, they got it. If you're looking for clothes/costumes/merch, they got it. You'll basically find anything and everything horror/Halloween related here, so make sure to get your steps in! There are also several photo-ops in every crevice and corner, so remember to charge your phone or bring your fancy cameras! We tried the Gorchata (horchata latte with pumpkin cold foam) from Coffinated Coffee, a churro cheesecake from Lunas Sweets and Treats, and a lemonade from a random stand. There are some food trucks out back and plenty of restaurants in the immediate area if you want actual food. We hit up every booth that had a spin wheel for free prizes like free/discounted tickets for Haunted Hayride, Magic of the Jack O'Lanterns, Evil Dead in concert, Street Food Cinema, and stickers/candy. Movie studios and theme parks had their own special photo-ops. Overall we had a blast for our first time at Midsummer Scream! Lots of things to see and do, lots of nice horror fans to interact with, lots of money to spend if you're not careful! Probably the biggest/only downside is that there are literally no places to sit, so be prepared to be on your feet all day! We saw some tables out back near the food truck area, but we were on our way to exit anyways. There's plenty of parking lots/garages in the area for different prices so don't stress over it (just remember where you parked though). We'd love to come back, but maybe next year we'll spring for the weekend passes so we can take our time and strategize better.

Better late than pregnant I always say! ============================================================ The city of Long Beach has pushed the elements, gangs, thugs & the ilk out of this area (One of many in progress) and made way via landscaping & reinventing a section of Bixby Park that not only hosted this event, but hosts other venues as well. And on a cloudy, humid, but cooler rain pending Monsoonal day, my Yelp friend Steph H had her eclectic, unique & one of a kind visionary pieces on display for a completely different journey for the eyes, visually taking you from polar bears to butterflies & more amidst others during this much overlooked Long Beach venue. Many other vendors at this event in numbers around 40-50 were offering up many crafts, handmade items, art work in water colors, oils & charcoals, some were works in progress right before your eyes-such talent and great people of many ethnicities made this event a must come & see for every citizen in the LBC! Strolling along, coffees & teas are offered up by a vendor to perk up your senses, stimulate your buying bug or, to cool you down, but what ever you needed, even a cart with churros & chips was there for the "I need to call Jenny Craig" crowd too at prices that won't break the bank! A live band, A-Capella performers, and other live entertainment, made for a few hours of a much needed get out of the house, you work from home way to much MP Saturday, and I'll for sure be back to see what's happening among an ever so crowded lightly venue at the Park known as Bixby, for The Annual Art in the Park-Long Beach. You may even purchase raffle tickets for great prizes, which proceeds go to making this venue possible & more! My fellow Yelpers, keep your eyes open, read those event tabs here on Yelp and look for this venue so as no to miss out, it is listed among many others, and is a nice addition. If nothing else you get to socially interact with many citizens of Long Beach in an environment once off limits to the decent & law abiding. This annual event, occurring…read moreevery July, helps raise funds for Long Beach's historic Bixby Park, an awesome neighborhood park that's definitely on its way back from neglect and abuse and is being rediscovered by its residents! I first became aware of this event through Nancy O'Neil, another local Long Beach artist whom I met at an art show I had at Sasha's Living With Style. She's a real local arts activist and is also behind the Long Beach Women's Art Show in December. Anyway, she invited me to be a part of this event and I thought it'd be awesome to be able to show some art close to home and benefit my community as well. As a participating artist I made a donation to the Friends of Bixby Park but didn't have to pay any other fee or commission from my day's sales. It was a great opportunity to connect with other local artists, musicians, vendors and residents, and I felt it was a worthwhile thing for me to do. If I could say anything about how to make this event better, it would have to be increased publicity and artist participation. A lot of people who came by didn't even know this event was going on, and just happened to be randomly at the park. They were happy and excited to see the event, but I wish more people had known about it. However, I'm hoping that with listings like this on Yelp with reviews by established Yelpers like me and Michael P, that the word will spread and the event will only get better. World Hansik Festival was a super cool little festival that happens once a year during the weekend…read more This year's World Hansik Festival was located at The Source in Buena Park. If you're familiar with this location you know that there couldn't be a better location due to the heavy Asian influences. After finding parking we headed down to the bottom floor of the parking structure where there were rows and rows of vendors. The vendors range from kitchen appliances, food samples, food vendors, skin care, spices and a lot more. I made my way over to food vendors and saw the spicy rice cakes so I knew I needed them. The order was a large order for $5 which was pretty good. My boyfriend sneaked down to one of the other booths and snagged a ramen burger with fries. They had so many options to choose from. Not only was all the food amazing but the atmosphere was fun!

This is the very first time I've gone, but I found out about it last year, but after the event had passed. So I told myself I'd possibly go the following year, which is now. I arrived at about 8:35 AM for their 9 AM opening time and got a great parking spot. The event itself is so-so, but I guess since it was free, I can't complain. The name of the event, Festival of Flight, is much grander than the event itself. I don't know what year this started, but from the photos, it was better in the past. It's much better to pay and go to a regular air show. My husband and I left after about 20 minutes, so we were standing in line longer than that to get in. However, you don't know how an event is until you go, so now we know. There were a few helicopters, a couple of cessnas, moatly people from various companies/organizations passing out pamphlets, junior ROTC kids, and several food trucks. It's a nice little outing to bring kids, but don't expect to see much of anything in regards of planes and I didn't see any vendors selling anything.

From 10am-4pm…read more We got here at 2pm, plenty of parking spaces because people were leaving from the morning crowd, so we do not need to go to the overflow parking. This festival has been here for 100 years! Airplanes, shows, trucks, fun vibrant everywhere. Hope to enjoy it again in the future.
