There are so many things to love about Wegman's: the helpful service staff, the convenient and delicious prepared foods, the app that helps me to not only create my list but also to find the items on that list, the nice 2nd-floor area where you can hold meetings or just relax with your coffee or lunch...the only thing I've been disappointed with on occasion is the quality of some of the produce and too-high prices on certain items. I also wish I could fine reasonably-priced US gulf shrimp; even the imported shrimp are too pricey for me, so I get that and a few other items at Food Lion. Recently, I had the opportunity to experience Wegman's seafood bar for lunch -- fabulous! My lobster rolls (a splurge, but fairly priced at $15.99 for 2 rolls with a side of fresh steamed broccoli) were outstanding, and the broccoli perfectly cooked. If you're in the mood for Asian/Indian food, you're hungry, and you have to do some food shopping, there is no better place. Very cool to sit above the shoppers in the market area of the greatest grocery store presented to mankind. The food is always fresh and delicious and is presented in a buffet/pay by the ounce scheme. The dining area is separate from the rest of the grocery store and is heavily themed. While Asian and Indian cuisine are focal, there are also sandwiches, pizza, coffee, seafood, salad, and almost any other type of food you can think of. A regular stop for this family. read more

I love Wegmans! It is a destination trip for me. They carry things I can't get anywhere else and prices, on the whole, aren't THAT much higher than anywhere else, except for meats and café items. I will say that shoppers here seem to be a bit more detached, wrapped up in themselves and not so "socially aware" as to respect other shoppers trying to navigate the store etc. This surprises me for a somewhat upscale store. So, for that reason, I do not make Wegmans my regular go to store. The shoppers at Giant are still the most courteous in my opinion. Otherwise, Wegmans is grande! I have seen a steady decline in the Customer service at this location and my shopping experience on June 20th was just plain terrible. I purchased bad meat the week before, so I brought it in with me and had a huge list of things to get for a party. Upon approaching the Customer Service Counter a woman was standing in front of the desk and I assumed she was working in Customer service. She intently stared me down, as if I was public enemy #1. I smiled and said Hello as I approached her , she never acknowledged me and continued to stare me down. Someone else from behind the counter greeted me and helped me. I did not have my receipt for the meat, so she told me I could not get my money back, but we could do an exchange. I was never offered the option to look up my receipt (I always use my Wegmans card with every purchase and I knew the date and time I was there last). I continued on with my shopping and went into produce. I was looking for the pre bagged, cleaned and peeled garlic cloves and they were not stocked. I saw a young man stocking lettuce and asked him if he knew if there was anymore of this product. I said excuse me I was wondering if you could help me. Again the cold stare and NO greeting in return. He did not know the product so I volunteered to show him the empty spot on the shelf and he said he would look in back but acted as if it were going to be a huge inconvenience. I continued on with my produce shopping, because I had a lot of it to do. I saw him stoking the item in question and went over to grab some. We were face to face and I thanked him (very much!) and again, no acknowledgement or words, he spun around and went back to stocking his lettuce. Frankly, I am always disappointed when I leave Wegman's and receive mediocre service, which has been the case lately, but to get really awful customer service really makes me mad, for two reasons. First being that this is a destination for me, I do not live close to a Wegmans, I'm about thirty minutes away. I pass three major grocery chains to shop here. Second, when I was looking for a part time job, Wegmans would not hire me for the front end (or any end). Lately, I leave Wegman's thinking " I could have done such a better job handling ringing up this order. If I had handled this , the customer would have left thinking I can't wait to come back. Instead I leave most of the time thinking, why do I keep coming here?" My customer Service skills are impeccable and I have the resume and customer testimonials to prove it. Despite numerous attempts and phone interviews, I could never get in. I am on a fixed income and choose to pay more for your groceries because I want quality produce and variety I can't get elsewhere, which makes getting this kind of customer very upsetting. I have been shopping here less and less and am beginning to think I should just stay away all together. Having said all of this, the cahier who checked me out on June 20th at customer service (op#99516) was delightful and helpful. She gets the meaning of good customer service. read more

30 minutes after being told that there would be "somewhat" of a delay because of a problem with their stove, our dinner arrived. No effort to serve our salads--which were prepared 20 minutes earlier. Then when my wife dropped her fork on the floor and called the server, the response--after a several second delay was "so you'd like another.?" Then the server went behind the counter to prepare something for another customer and when we had to ask again for a fork the response was: "I was going to bring it on my way back." I should note that there were fewer than 8 people being served during this entire time. Not the level of customer service that Wegmans touts. read more

Wegman's is a huge grocery with many offerings including high end. BUT.....Customers need to know that they come second to store employees. The customer is not first. I was advised by corporate that happy employees make happy customers and if employees aren't happy..... (no, they need to look for another job is not their answer). If you complain to corporate it gets sent to the store itself. Guess what happens to your complaint? The issue here is store policy and need for change. I made the case during my last visit but did not realize--it is what it is. You like it, you abide by it, or go elsewhere. Yes, customers pay the bills but that's lost on store policy. My issue here is purchasing live lobster and no posting at the tank that it doesn't get cooked after 7pm. Lobster is high end. High end customers don't dine before 7pm. Why have blue collar dining habits enforced here? It's for employee convenience. Not the customer. That's why. Contrast this to Leonard's Supermarkets--a competing grocery chain with stores in NY, NJ, CT, and VA. You drive 45 miles south to Richmond's Far West End at Tom Leonard's who, like the rest of the family's Leonard's supermarkets, has a 6,000 lb. granite slab at each store entrance that states: OUR POLICY Rule 1. The Customer is Always Right! (note the exclamation point) Rule 2. If the customer is ever wrong reread Rule 1. Richmond is a tough market for grocers and restaurants but Tom Leonard's is always packed with happy customers. read more

This is the best grocery store. The fruit & vegetables are fanomall! Also have all kinds of food to choose from if you want to sit down and eat there, or the have to go containers to take it home and eat! Hard to choose what because it's all so good! A little pricey, but it's so good it's worth it. Also I know several people (excluding my son) that work there. I have never seen a place like them. They treat (like all places should, but don't) their employees like gold! My son started there as his first job when he was 16. He started out at the Fairfax store. Then when he moved to Fredericksburg with his now wife, he got a job in the field he went to college for, but transferred to the Fredericksburg store. Sometimes maybe you would think ok, maybe the Fairfax store was one of a kind. Not so the Fredericksburg store was just as great at the way they treat there employees. He couldn't bare to leave so all this time he still works there as a second job. (He is now 27) I guess that's why Wegmans has been on the top 100 places to work by Forbes magazine for over 20 years. Let me first say this, when I moved to Fredericksburg I was THRILLED to have a Wegmans nearby! Boy, was I naive. For the first couple of months I found Wegmans to be decent. Very clean, lots of product choice. However I have noticed something consistently wrong here. THEY RUN OUT OF THE MOST BASIC PRODUCTS. I can not tell you how many times I go into the store to find that something I need is out of stock. Things like CHICKEN. BEEF. Certain normal produce items. It's absolutely insane. Also their prices are NUTS. A single avocado at Wegmans is 2$. At Food Lion up the road, they are a little over a dollar. They have a "shoppers card" which essentially saves you nothing. My review is aimed at the Pharmacy specifically. Without too much backstory, let me say that I had the same prescription filled incorrectly at CVS near Mary Wash FIVE times. To be fair, the Doctor botched both of the prescriptions, and CVS failed to catch that my infant daughter was being given 100 times the dose she should have been. I repeat: 100 times the dose. Once we figured this out (through a good deal of screaming and a call to poison control - I still get upset thinking about it) we continued to fill the RX at CVS. I was perversely interested if they would EVER dial in, and since I could simply give my daughter the correct dose, there was no reason I couldn't keep testing them. They never caught on. Fast forward to an eve of a Snowmageddon. You know how bread and milk are always wiped out when snow is predicted? That is when I chose to head to Wegmans to fill our own cupboards, and I thought, while I'm here, let me fill our kids' RX's so I can make one less trip. Wegmans was MAYHEM with everyone in Fxbg having the same idea. I dropped by, and as busy as they were, I asked for them to call CVS and transfer the scripts. I expected to wait forever, and assumed I'd see the same errors I was accustomed to. Before I was done shopping, my beeper indicated my scripts were ready. I headed over, signed the forms and such, and as I was walking away, I stopped in my tracks. They had noted the errors in BOTH RXs, and fixed them BOTH. Without even a word to me about it. I asked to speak to the manager, and I literally had tears in my eyes as I told him how shocked I was that they had caught the errors, fixed both of them like it was no big deal. I told him I was a Wegmans Pharmacy fan for life. The dude was so cute about it -- he just said, "M'am, we're WEGMANS. If you are looking to overpay for store-brand products that are not as good as their name-brand counterparts then this is the grocery store for you. Their veg and fruit selections are also way over price and usually not of even decent quality compared to just about any other store nearby. More than once we have found slugs in our cauliflower and flies in the fruit. Another area they fail miserably in is their deli meats. They don't offer any thing except wegmans brand and they change boars-head prices..... not even close to boars-head quality. The only thing they do well is their meat and fish selection. It is very impressive but again, just not worth the price. Friendly folks work here and re place looks amazing but over paying by 20% or more just ruins the experience. read more

Had dinner at the Fredericksburg Wegman's seafood bar on Saturday, 2/29/20 with a friend who lives nearby. We'd last eaten there about a year and a half ago. It was close to 7 o'clock, and I was expecting it to be difficult to find a seat as it was last time. That last time they'd also run out of items on the daily special list due to the number of diners. No such problems this time because there were only two other customers seated. Huh? As we scanned the menu we also noted that no food was getting cooked at the grill or stove there at the bar. We were told that about a year ago the food prep was moved to a kitchen in another part of the facility. The staff at the bar (I recognized one of the Weg's employees, an older woman, at the bar was same-same as last time. She was attentive and polite. Her much younger male coworker was likewise polite but inattentive.) communicated with the kitchen using little walkie-talkies. Consequently, the service was agonizingly slow, though we'd decided we were going to take our time. We finally had calamari (billed as "grilled," but it was clearly out of a bag and deep fried), fish chowder, arugula salad, a burger and a crab cake. The crab cake was blue crab lump. Wow. Though slow in coming, the food was good. We also had a beer and a couple of glasses of wine. In the 90 minutes we sat and ate, the bar had maybe 10 other customers. This was nothing like it was 18 months ago. We also did some shopping afterwards -- it was around 9PM by then -- and the store was a ghost town, again, unlike the throngs of cutomers I remembered. Maybe the cold just kept people at home that night. The one older employee I recognized had told me the last time I ate at the Fburg Weg's seafood bar that she had customers who, like me, came down to the Fburg location since the Fairfax Weg's had idiotically discontinued their seafood bar despite customers standing in line awaiting a seat at the bar. The spectacle of customers queuing for a seat at the Fairfax "Whole Foods" seafood bar in Fair Lakes occurs every night of the week! I suspect that the sight and aroma of chefs cooking the premium seafood available at the Wegman's had been a major draw. No more! I give 3:1 odds that the Fredericksburg Wegman's seafood bar closes down before end of this year, 2020 -- a self-inflicted wound. Too bad. Meanwhile, I won't be returning. read more

I have felt that I'm one of Wegmans' Spokes-people! I love this store more than words can express. From the Eatery to the prepared foods, deli, beautiful produce section and the list goes on and on! I work near Wegmans therefore I can even eat my lunch there and grab a few things if needed on my lunch hour. The store brand foods are all just as good as name brands! I have friends in Maryland asking "What is a Wegmans?" and I try to explain, but it is a store that you have to "experience" for yourself! I'm very thankful for Wegmans coming to Fredericksburg! Wegmans is the only grocery store that i will shop at in Fredericksburg. before Wegmans came to town, i did my shopping almost exclusively in Northern Virginia or Richmond at Trader Joes (pricing that simply cant be beat and many extremely interesting items) and Whole Foods Market (i am a very healthy eater and observe a vegan diet, which Whole Foods obviously caters to abundantly). i do not shop at Bloom because i find this place to be horribly overpriced and i am not going to lower myself to being taken advantage of so blatantly. i do not shop at Food Lion, Bottom Dollar, Giant (though Giant has a good reputation historically) etc except for when i need something basic and one of these locations is quite nearby; i prefer to give my business to Wegmans. Wegmans truly cares. they care in such a multidimensional way. they care about fair pricing; they care about customer service; they care about aesthetics; they care about providing us with many a party brew; they care about the vegans, granola heads, and hippies. every time i come here, i have a superb experience. not once have i been disappointed. its like the Disneyland of grocery stores. read more

I love grocery shopping but generally dislike others that grocery shop. You all are rude. lol. Here's my game plan when I go, I set up Slacker and put in my ear buds and get lost somewhere between Johnny Cash and Wu Tang. So giving a grocery store 5 stars? wtf ... I might be getting old at this point but they are definitely in the top tier of the grocery game. The depth chart is pretty extensive but Wegmans rises above to hopefully elevate the others that compete for their business. So yes I can get aggravated by the large carts in the small aisles especially those uber long racing car carts that can fit a family inside while the parent shops. Just by the look of the place you can already tell their product offerings will be above all competition. The difference I think that forces the high ratings and opinions comes down to the fresh produce, the pricing of the normal packaged items and of course the employees. The employees have always been friendly and helpfull and that alone makes them rise above all other stores that compete. Glad to see Wegmans in Fredericksburg. Wegmans is great. I had never heard of them until they opened the one here in F'burg. I stood in line at 6:30 with a bunch of other crazy folks so I could check out how great this store "supposedly" was. I have never been in a store like it... ever. I have found ingredients that I had never seen in any other grocery store. The people there are so friendly offering advice or ideas for recipes or selections. And the samples! Its great to be able to sample something you've never tried before, or get a quick reminder of why you get it in the first place. :) The meats there taste better, the produce is plentiful and the bakery and the deli and the pizzeria...Wegman's is one of the best grocery stores (next to Trader Joes) I have ever been to! read more

Wegmens is great for a lot of products you can't get elsewhere. Probiotics, essential oils, fancy cheese, to-go sashimi. I recommend it for all those little things that are on your list that you can't seem to find. However, the overall price of their grocerys are on the higher side, making it not worth it to me to shop here for everything else. And, as odd as this may seem, my biggest complaint is with the other shoppers. There's a general snoody attitude everyone seems to have, and when I shop here I feel like a peasant that came uninvited to the rich people party. Am I being crazy? Okay, I submit and I'm terribly jealous that we in HRVA don't have a Wegman's. I'm a Harrist Teeter fiend and this Wegman's has won the spot for the best supermarket I've been to. It is clean and has a warm atmosphere. The people are all smiley and actually say excuse me. I was humbly walking down the aisle like a deer in the headlights after a long drive and a employee stopped me and asked if I needed help. He was so sweet! Pretty much everything you can think of this store has, I know I'm way to excited about writing a review for a supermarket but I really enjoyed my visit. This place has all my vegan.vegeterian items and more. I like this way better than Whole Foods in Va Beach because it is more welcoming and believe it or not cheaper. The sushi selection is where I went for a quick on the road lunch, I got a tuna steak sashimi and some tuna spring rolls. I also bought some Irish mustard ( random I know) and Tofurkey's Kielbasa which I have never even seen from this brand. The beer selection is so well organized and while I didn't ask for help, I overheard an employee helping out a fellow customer who as very knowledgeable on brew. The wine selection is great too. Honestly, I could go on but it would be way too long. Everything impressed me, the pastries, the cheeses, sushi, beer, wine, frozen foods and natural selections. I could literally do all my shopping here if they opened up a store in the Burg. Overall, I would go back if I travel up North but I can't see myself driving 100+ miles for food unfortunately, lol. WOW, Even tho I have only been in this store only 3 times, each time I'm blown away! I had heard of Wegmans from friends for about a decade. I kept thinking it'll be really good but no one could have described to me just how phenomenal they are. This store in particular, well I'd never seen anything like. It's like a mall of food. The area w/ the oysters being shucked as you ordered and the selection of worldwide prepared food is amazing. What every grocery store should be! I can't speak highly enough over this place. They stock some of the harder to find items, prices are comparable to other grocery stores, and the produce quality is significantly better than local grocery stores. There is a food court with a long list of available items for you to purchase and eat in their upstairs lounge area. The have free WiFi and offer movie night on Friday evenings. The store offers a bakery with a large selection of fresh baked breads and desserts. Meat section that offers various cuts of quality meats and seafood. A cheese selection that has offerings you have never heard of. An ever growing organic and gluten free section and then a wine section that rivals the local wine store. When it comes to food, they really are the one stop shop for 99% of the things you may be looking for. I drive 35 minutes passing 3 different grocery stores to shop there. read more

Wow, I had the best experience possible in this grocery store. EVERYONE was so extremely pleasant and kind, from the gentleman at the deli counter to the woman who waved us to customer service to check out after approaching a long line, only holding a small basket of items in my hand.
