Never again. Initially, I was delighted to have a Middle Eastern store in the area and I went there as often as possible to support a small business in our community. I was disappointed that their felafel was downright awful, but whatever, different cooks make things differently, no biggie. However, my most recent purchase apparently included a "convenience fee," which was not disclosed to me until I looked at my receipt. I have no idea how this transaction differed from any other transaction I've done, nor how this one was more "convenient" than any other purchase I've ever made, nor how I could have avoided it. Pretty slimy to add an extra fee to my purchase and not even tell me or give me a choice. Your slimy and unethical nickel and diming just lost you a customer. Gross. read more

I stopped in while on a sales trip in the area for lunch. The food was absolutely amazing and the staff was very kind and helpful. I was stuck between the beef and lamb shawarma or the chicken and he made my decision very easy.(ended up getting the beef and lamb) I don't have much of a sweet tooth but I have to say the baklava was something else. When I have that opportunity to share a meal with family, we saw this place as we were passing by. This place is on a corner of Harrison Rd and Rt.1 (Patriot Hwy) with plenty of parking that is shared by other businesses. As we walked in, there's two parts that incorporates or blends in as a mini cafe and a market. The menu is simple and to the point which is located above the counter on the left. You have a choice of a platter or pita sandwich with only three meat selections: chicken, lamb and beef shawarma. There's also falafel and hummus. We mix match our orders, there were 2 pita sandwiches and 3 platters. While we waited for our order, we took a scroll at the market which was behind us. The market has variety of items such as souvenir, groceries, drinks, tea sets, fresh bread and praying rugs. Between the pita and platter, they were generous portions. On the table, they had 5 variety of sauces you can accommodate your meal with. Everything we order was delicious, our palette was craving for more after each bite. Out of the 5 sauces, we enjoy 3 which were tahini, sweet and hot; and Iraqi sauce. They also offer various desserts including baklava. It's a great place to try new dishes and learn a new culture which is ran by two guys that are friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. The cafe/market is clean and comfortable. After hearing so much about this local market/eatery on a foodie page, I finally made the trip to Baghdad Mediterranean Market. While their food menu is limited, it's got the staples: falafel and shawarma. I tried both. Let's start with the falafel: it was nice and crispy in the outside but deliciously tender and moist on the inside. The sandwich is served in a pita-like bread and comes with sliced lettuce, tomatoes, and pickles. The shawarma also came in the pita-like bread and was topped with onions, tomatoes, and pickles. I also ordered za'atar french fries. Everything was made to order, including the fries. The family who runs the market is warm, friendly and I love that they keep the store very clean. First off as soon as you walk in, the aroma of the food cooking is mesmerizing! They have a lot of interesting ingredients and the spice isle is a wonderland of flavors and variety. Now on to the food we ordered the shawarma combo with the zatar fries. Let me tell you, if you want amazing flavor that needs no sauce this is it... however their sauces are amazingly tasty. I tried every sauce and my favored is the tahini hands down. I also got a bag of falafel that brought a tear to my eye when I ate it. I have a new love of falafel because of this store. The service there is excellent, the family I met working there are so friendly and charming. They are kind and don't mind explaining items that I wanted to learn more about. I finally tried this spot on my lunch break and found it to be wonderful. The owner and mgr and extremely friendly. They offer groceries, desserts and hot food. I tried the falafel pita, which was about 3.5. I like my falafel crispy and it was as crispy as ai would have preferred to have it. They have five sauces they give you with your sandwich which made it better. It comes with onions, pickles, and carrots all seasoned and cabbage. I tried the beef and lamb pita also and that was 4.5. They have a wide selection of Mediterranean groceries and goods. Now let's move on to the food and man ... hands down the best Shawarma in this area if not in the nova area. We had some Turkish coffee and baklava while waiting, both were delicious. Safa's baklava just melted in my mouth. We brought home some hummus and my kids licked the tub clean. Safa and Omar have worked really hard on creating a cozy atmosphere in their shop and they nailed it perfectly. They offer both indoor dining as well as outdoor dining. Just had a wonderful lunch at Baghdad Mediterranean Market & Deli بغداد ماركت. The staff was so friendly and helpful, and made our lunch as we shopped the market. My husband and daughter had the beef and lamb shawarma, I had the falafel bowl, and we shared an order of their seasoned fries. They had sold out of their hummus, but we got some tzatziki to have with our meals. Just SOO good. We ended with Turkish coffee and baklava. Service is great but their hummus and tzatziki are the best ones I have tried so far in Fredericksburg. Their platters are very fulfilling and made to share. Every time we go their we always have to bring home their pita bread, two hummus and their tzatziki sauce, along with one or two platters, it's simply delish. He told me put that one down and brought out piping hot bread which knocked me back into another world. I ate it right in the car without anything on it.
