If I could live inside Wegmans, I think I would... It almost hard to find something about Wegmans I don't like. The wide variety of food and household items is amazing, the freshly prepared sushi, bread, cheeses, sandwiches, pizza, soups, etc. are wonderful. The Wegmans in Bethlehem, I feel, has the best locale and overall layout. One great thing about Wegmans is that they always have a large number of checkout lanes open, so its rare you have to wait too long. If you are looking for a great grocery shopping experience, check it out at night (since they are open 24 hours), and you will have all the time you'd like to browse the entire store. Mid-week is a nice time to sample the olive bar, or "salad/fruit/prepared food" bar and sit in the lofted dining area. Also, did I mention they sell beer? read more

This is difficult to write since I've been a customer here at this location for many years and always loved it and it's workers. However during this pandemic this Wegmans has really dropped the ball ...well at least the Bethlehem location, I can't speak for the others since I don't shop there. A pet peeve I had even before covid when I shopped in store was the constant issue of being out of stock on certain items...at time for a couple of weeks....while the Nazareth or Allentown locations would have plenty of the same item. They would have all kinds of excuses but as a customer I don't care. I want to shop at a place where I can always get what I need. As my boss (or any boss) used to say if you gave them an excuse for something not working right; " I don't care, just fix it!" Figure something out. Well during the pandemic it has gotten worse. So much so that I was forced to start supplementing my shopping at Giant. After doing this I began to notice that they always had what I needed. Well, at least most of the time. Then something else. During the pandemic Wegmans raised their prices for each item for curbside. I believe they said it was 15% per item but whatever it was we were paying substantially more for each item. It hurt our pocket. Meanwhile Giant didn't do this, They charged a measly $2.99 extra per order. So if I bought $100 worth of groceries they would be normal priced and my total would be $102.99. On top of that, if they didn't have something they would replace it but not charge any differences. For example: I ordered a 12 ounce bag of coffee which cost about $5 and they were out of 12 oz bags. They replaced it with a 24 oz bag....twice as much...but still charged me for the smaller bag I ordered and they do this with all items. If they are out and they replace it with something more expensive they still charge the original price of what you ordered. Since we got into this pandemic and curbside I've shifted to doing the bulk shopping at Giant saving only a few items for Wegmans each week. Certain things that they have which I'm familiar with and continue to get there (very few). Once this is ended and I begin going back in-store I will be able to better check out these items and totally switch to Giant. Sad....I loved Wegmans but they totally let me down here. Wegmans is the best grocery store chain I have ever seen. There are 3 Wegmans in the Lehigh Valley: Allentown, Bethlehem, and Easton (aka the Nazareth location). I have not been to the Allentown location, but of the other two, the Bethlehem location is by far my favorite. It is a bigger store, so the aisles don't seem so cramped. It seems a little cleaner to me, too, but that could just be from the wider open spaces. The food selection is the reason that this is my primary grocery store. They have an excellent produce section with a large selection of organics. Their health food section offers a wide variety of frozen foods, baby food, cereal, canned goods, snacks, and gluten free products. The meat and seafood departments have a lot of quality options. It is rare that I cannot find what I want at Wegmans. Like others, I used to think that they were pricey, but after shopping there for years, I can say that their prices are reasonable. I was surprised when I priced out baby formula and diapers - I found that Wegmans was cheaper than Walmart. Naturally they will not be cheaper on everything, but they stay competitive. Now that Wegmans sells beer in their Market Cafe, there is even more reason to go there. I don't always want to have to buy an entire case at the beer distributor. Sometimes I just want a 6-pack or 12-pack, and I can find those at Wegmans now. Note that you have to pay for beer at the Cafe register, separate from your regular groceries. Also note that you are limited to purchasing two 6-packs or one 12-pack per visit. Finally, note that you will be carded no matter how old you are. Some people find this ridiculous but I think Wegmans is just making sure they hold on to their license. For parents: This location has a Kids Club babysitting service while you shop. Kids must be at least 3 years old and potty trained to visit. Parents and children are both given wrist bands, and the parent is given a pager in case the center needs you to return for some reason (e.g., child needs to go to the bathroom). They also have plenty of shopping carts with seating for two children, in both the car format and a plainer double seat located near the cart handle. There are several parking spots close to the store designated for parents with children, which is helpful if your kids are little. In the back of the store, there is an overhead toy train to amuse the kids (and grown-ups, too). I don't mind picking up a thing or two at my closer Giant store every now and then, but for major grocery shopping, my heart belongs to Wegmans. I used to think that the Florida Publix chain was great until I moved up here and saw what I was missing. read more

Overrated. I remember this store being way better. They used to have more store brands. Now, it seems like they want to be Whole Foods and shelf space is seeing more organic items. There is no store brand Pop Tarts. What store doesn't have store brand Pop Tarts? Cereal is 90% named brand and that means higher prices. The lady at the deli gave me pre sliced Swiss Cheese that was sliced very thick. The old lady cashier was cold and bordered on rude. She made no effort to help me get my uncooperative shoppers card to scan. While applying for a new card at customer service, a woman came to pick up empty boxes she called in for. The customer service lady said her boxes were already picked up. The woman said that is sort of impossible since I just got here. Perhaps a new store manager would get the employees to be kinder. I never see department heads when I go there. Few employee smiles. The whole experience was bad. I'm sorry I didn't go to Weis's up the road as I usually do. read more

We moved to this area a couple years ago and heard all the hype about Wegmans. I have been nothing but disappointed with the place. Compared to Weis, Giant, and Walmart it is adequate, but I just find going in to the store to be an annoying, blood-pressure spiking process that demands headphones and usually a bourbon before and after to decompress. For readability, I'll just bullet point some of my issues with the store: My Personal Cons: * There is no real butcher area. The butcher area is about the size of a cubicle and it's only for steaks and pork, mostly. Everything else is pre-packaged, which is maddening. We are a family of four, but one of our children doesn't like meat, so we're always stuck when it comes to pork chops, for example, from choosing from buying a 2 pack or a 4 pack, neither of which is what we need (we buy only organic meet for what it's worth; the non-organic might have more options). The meats also seem very expensive especially compared to more upscale markets like Fresh Market where pork tenderloin is significantly cheaper than Wegmans, and a lot a more affordable. I also find the quality to be lacking (e.g. perfectly cook pork chops are tough). We have found the chicken products and ground meats (bison, beef, turkey, and lamb) to be suitable, though. We have not been happy with the "fresh" fish selections as the salmon we got was smelly and oily . . . fresh fish should have a minimal scent. * Wegmans has areas where it primarily wants to only pimp its own Wegmans products. For example, most of the cheeses are are Wegmans labeled. Some of them are passable; milk is another area where there is a hegemony of Wegmans products; if I wanted only private label selections I'd either drive to Trader Joe's or go to Aldi. Other areas they offer a surprisingly slim selection given the amount of shelf space. For example, 90% of their soy sauce is Kikoman soy . . . it would seem a couple spots could be used for other brands such as San-J or Yamasa to at least provide some differentiation. * I have found some of the employees to be very disrespectful. One time the cashier told said to me "you know, you can label your goodies over there" referring to the produce labeling machines (which often have lines, are broken, or are out of paper) in the produce area. Another time I asked an employee if they had more mint in stock; his response was "I'll go check after I put out these onions" (of which he had several boxes and the mint was the last thing I needed). Thanks for nothing. Also expect numerous employees to about run you over with dollies without so much of an "excuse me" as they hurriedly go to restock shelves that never seem to have any inventory anyway, and expect about 30% of the items you need to purchase to be blocked by an employee putting out merchandise who gives you a stern look for needing to get to products. They also like to create bottle necks by leaving dollies in the middle of aisles so customers have to shimmy by the sides. * The checkout lines are usually long and slow. * The pre-made foods are disappointing except for the some of the soups, the wing bar (well the tenders), and some of the items on the Asian bar. A chicken box for our daughter on the wing bar that included a couple tenders and a few fries ran almost $10. Might as well go to PJ Whelihans at that point. They also make questionable decisions with the soups. They have some really outstanding soups like a curry-chicken-apple, harvest bisque, but a lot of times the entirety of the soup bars are the same soups you can buy cold and prepackaged three feet away. DIVERSIFY YOUR SOUP PORTFOLIO! * The Wegmans shopping card is a complete joke and useless. We spent $232 recently and saved . . . wait for it . . . .82 cents on our entire purchase. I save that much on a bag of Skittles at Walgreens. Not a price leader. * A random aside . . . their marketing is very poor. They push their Family Packs of "Value and Convenience" down your throat at every turn. 1) if I wanted to buy in excessive bulk I'd join Sam's Club or Costco. 2) where is quality in that equation. Absent. So know what you're getting when you buy the "Family Pack." * Check expiration dates. We bought a Wegman's Brand frozen pizza that had been expired for months once; another time I caught them putting out bread before a snowstorm that expired the next day. I asked if they might have bread that would stay good through a blizzard and they did get me a loaf with greater longevity. My Personal Pros: * Better than Weis, Giant, and Walmart. * Generally a good and varied selection of produce. * They sell beer! * Proximity * It seems they treat and pay their employees well (based on reports), which I really admire and respect. For me, the Wegmans hype has just not been justified. I find it pretty interchangeable with a lot of places I've shopped previously and would choose Fresh Market over Wegmans any day of the week if Fresh Market wasn't a 20-30 drive. read more

Thought this was the best store in the local area; however, produce shelves are frequently empty and/or items are outdated. Recently, I was in the prepared food area and again, shelves were empty and employees putting food away -- it was 6:35 p.m. Employee stated they were cleaning up because they close at 8 p.m. If you are open to customers until 8:00 p.m., food items should be available until 8:00 p.m. Clean up after closing. Total waste of time to shop at this store in early evening only having to run to another store. Poorly managed store. read more

I used to like wegmans a lot, now they don't really try, definitely a change of hands, always stocking during the day when your trying to shop, unfriendly stockers never a greeting, cashiers still friendly though, not enough to keep me shopping there, other grocery stores will get my business. read more

As we we are in the process of moving into the neighborhood, this Wegman's has been our nearly sole source of foodstuffs...not to mention the free wifi = a blessing. The hot food bar is amazing, though I dare you to run in for just lunch without getting sidetracked in the other (far more interesting) aisles. There is sushi made to order (even organic or w/ brown rice), a salad station, a "Chinese" food buffet, a sub shop, and pre-made sandwiches (the curry chicken salad with sliced cucumbers on rye is delicious). The soups are also lovely- the tomato veggie orzo and moroccan lentil are a couple I've tried. The pizza shop has a call-in and pick-up service that's handy. We spent $15 on a (very large) medium veggie pizza that was the best pizza we've had in the area. The sauce was a true tomato that tasted really fresh and the veggies were still crunchy. They also have an abundance of allergy-awareness signs and heads up as to what might be in the dishes, which is nice to see for a change! The grocery selection is fantastic and they seem to have happy and friendly employees. There is also a sizable organic/healthy section in addition to international food aisles, which can help to mix up the dinner menu. There is plenty of parking- the lot is gigantic- in addition to a nice cafe and eating area outside, though they always seem to have it tuned to that obnoxious "Delilah" woman on radio who is inevitably sending out heartwarming wishes from listeners to their daughters that have grown up far too fast. Great produce and organic selections. Another huge bonus is the wide range of international foods from all over the world. I was able to buy goodies from the Netherlands as well as Japan. Wegmans also has a loose leaf tea selection. It reminds me of Teavana but way less expensive and you can bag the tea yourself. This grocery store is my favorite in the Bethlehem area. read more

* I really don't do the grocery shopping in my house so for this review please note I will only be referring to their "Cafe" area, where you can buy pre-made food to take out or eat there.* I actually work in the industrial park right by this Wegman's so it's very convenient to run over there at lunch to grab a bite to eat. Right off the bat, you will notice this place gets PACKED at lunch time so don't expect to get that super close spot you're used to during evening grocery trips. Every time I walk in there for food at lunch I feel like I'm in the crazy ward at an understaffed hospital, there's people everywhere, it's loud and just generally unorganized, so I usually try to get in and get out as quickly as possible. (I do understand they get the bulk of workers from the industrial park, so I can forgive this...) I really enjoy their salad bar - there's a good fresh selection of greens and sides, as well as some hot food choices as well. The one thing it lacks is a variety of dressings. Be Warned, as with most of the food to go, you will pay BY THE POUND, so try and keep it light. I don't think I've ever walked out with a salad under $10. The sub shop is pretty amazing. On my first visit there I went with a full sub (I was thinking, Subway Footlong) but BOY was I wrong. This sub could have fed my entire office. I noticed they had a great deal on a half sub, which I made a note to remember next time I go in because it would be plenty. The only thing here is that they don't have the variety of condiments and toppings you would see at a Subway or Wawa, but I can overlook that, it still tasted delicious! Their Chinese bar has so much food it's impossible not to fill up that little plate they give you, but again, you pay by the pound so expect to DOUBLE the price you'd pay for a lunch deal at an actual Chinese place. I've had their pizza before as well, it doesn't taste great, but it's pretty cheap. Don't forget, they now have carry out beer in this section as well! (Although, I wouldn't recommend this if you're on your lunch break from work...) Overall, there's a good variety of food and every station has it's own pros and cons, which is why I went right in the middle with 3 stars. If you're in the area and want to stop by, I have no doubt you could find a good lunch, just keep in mind those little negatives I mentioned and you'll be good to go! read more

I'm sure people will disagree here, but I really am not blown away by this place. And I feel as though I SHOULD be blown away, if a full shopping list is gonna cost me about 10% more than the competitors. Let's start with the good. Hands down, this is the place to go for your chicken cutlets, pork chops, ground beef, etc. Their "club pack" values are tremendous and the meats are fresh. The produce varies in value, but is always fresh and they carry many fun and obscure vegetable choices. Milk and eggs are state minimums, so you can get those items as well. And they always seem to have random items, such as Turkey Hill ice cream and Cheez-Its for WAY LESS than anybody else. Unfortunately, for the most part the other groceries are minimum 10% more than anywhere else. There also tend to be fewer sale items per week than the other places, not to mention many of these "sale items" are merely bringing them to the average price of other places. The deli carries 90% Wegman's cold cuts, and, while good, are NOT Boar's Head quality. Their kaiser rolls are expensive, have a very short shelf life, and just aren't very good. So basically they get 2 stars since they only successfully fulfill 40% of my weekly shopping need. read more

I absolutely love Wegmans...just not this one. The Wegmans in South Whitehall is clean, offers fresh food, and is consistently stocked with regular groceries and prepared foods. This location has a prepared foods section where almost half of the food is always out, or if it is there it looks like it's been sitting out for too long. The sub shop is not nearly as good. Employees don't seem properly trained. This Wegmans is the worst I've been to. I recommend the one in Allentown. read more

Customer service is non-existent. They charged me for two newspapers when I only purchased one copy, then didn't want to issue a refund, sending me to the "customer service" stand at 6:45 on a Sunday morning, only to be told they didn't open until 7 a.m. I am SICK of hearing about how great this store supposedly is and how excellent their customer service is when in reality - they make a mistake, won't apologize or make it right unless you demand a refund. I live 3 blocks from another grocery store, but always default to Wegmans. My favorite parts of the store are the extensive produce section, the large organic department (it's basically like a health food store within a larger store, they have a ton of vegetarian/vegan options in this place unlike the tiny refrigerated coolers of silken tofu in most other grocery stores), the bulk foods section allows you to get just enough of something for a recipe (a 1/ cup of crushed walnuts, 2 cups of quinoa at much less of a cost than buying it in a box), and a very extensive makeup/cosmetic aisle for shampoos, chapticks and other stuff I usually have to get at target or an expensive drugstore. There are also several aisles of international food, where you can get authentic brands and flavors at reasonable prices (a huge bag of brown rice for a few dollars, versus a tiny box of uncle ben's brown rice in the "regular aisle" for the same price). Some things can be pricey, but there are great deals hidden around if you know how to shop for them. The staff is also always VERY friendly (on more than one occasion they have been all to happy to offer and go in the back to get me something I didn't see on a shelf without me even suggesting it!), the cashiers are always fast and polite. They also seem to have a good amount of cashiers at any given time and I can't recall a time I've ever been in a line longer than the one person ahead of me. They are also opened 24 hours, so if you plan your shopping right, it feel like you have the place to yourself. Maybe I'm just a nerd but I really love going here around 8 or 9pm on a weeknight and wandering around, taking my time, looking at all the food, getting excited about cooking. Wegmans, you are the Disneyland of grocery stores, and I thank you for it. I dread the day I move to a town without one of these. read more

Generally a top notch grocery store for the area. Local simpletons who long for the days of Laneco think it's "so expensive." Yes, you can buy expensive/high end items at Wegmans, particularly if you go wild in the prepared foods section, but for the everyday stuff (including the store brand) I think it's much cheaper than Giant. I only have one real complaint. I swear, the cashiers must be getting kickbacks from the plastic bag industry for "volume." You could go to the checkout aisle here with 20 items and end up carrying out 10 different bags. It's like every "category" of item must be in a different bag for some reason. OMFG, the bottle of mouthwash isn't going to taint the box of Cheerios if you put them in the same bag for 15 minutes on the way home! read more

This place is great and other Yelpers have pretty much summed up everything already. But I felt compelled to add in my 2 cents for their buffet bar, specifically the Indian food. I first tried the Indian dishes from food bar at this location and it was superb! When I went back to my local one I was disappointed to find the sauce in the dishes had separated and there was so much oil floating on top. And looked I did but no naan was found :_( so I just have to say that the Bethlehem location is totally superior in terms of the Indian dishes! The other Asian dishes are decent too but still a bit superior to the Tilghman St location. The pizza seems good no matter which location though ^_^. read more

The Cafe is a nice conveient place to eat, with many selections,though I will say the prepared food is rather expensive. I've been a fan of Trader Joe's for years but on a visit to Eastern Pennsylvania, I was introduced to Wegman's. WOW!! The cheese selection was awesome. The meat/deli/fish sections had great selections. The bakery was stocked with so many yummy looking things. I was like a kid in a candy store and wanted to fill my cart with all sorts of great things. Alas, they would not have survived my 14 hour drive home. If you're a foodie, you have to check out this place. Trader Joe's will never be the same after Wegman's. I wish they had stores in Illinois where I am. Then again, maybe it's good they don't. They seem to have at least one of EVERYTHING. Whether its a special type of mushroom, or some little known kind of cheese, if I can't find it anywhere else, Wegmans always has it. At first, the sheer magnitude of the store can be a little intimidating. I've been going to this store for three years now and haven't been in some of the aisles. There are others that I've been in only once or twice. After a while, you the shyness wares off, and you start to realize how varied the selection is. The variety isn't just restricted to the mundane. They have a wide array of foreign foods, tea, and deli options. As if that were not enough, their fishmonger and butcher selection is larger than just about any other place that I have seen. There are not many other places that also employ there own in house bakery and pastry shop. There is also a small cafe on the side, which recently added a wide selection of beer. On top of this, the prices are fairly marked, with ample deals on store brands. The customer service is another very strong point at this store. The selection, the service, the price, and clean environment all coalesce to make for a near perfect shopping experience. read more

The Bethlehem location of Wegmans has become a mess after their recent renovation. If there is any logic to the new arrangement, it completely escapes me. For just one example, Veggie Straw snacks are on one side of the store, while Veggie Stick snacks are on the opposite side of the store. I tried to give this new organization a chance, but shopping has now become a scavenger hunt. To add to the frustration of shopping at Wegmans, prices have gone up and selection has gone down (one example, the entertainment and household products section has shrunk dramatically). (Check out the comparison prices on the shelf tags at Weis markets.) Wegmans seems to be trying to make all of their stores cookie cutter copies of one another with little attention to the buying history of local customers. The atmosphere among employees has also declined significantly since store manager Mike Manlove is no longer in charge. Employees seem to be miserable. Today I encountered two employees actually yelling at each other as I exited the store. I'm currently doing more and more shopping at Weis and Giant as a result - trying to avoid Wegmans. read more

How can you not like Wegmans? The produce selection is by far the best in the Lehigh Valley that I know of. The Prepared Foods and take out areas are by far the best in the area as well. People complain that prices are high, and while they can get pricey on the prepared foods, the rest of the grocery products are competitively priced, if not under priced. The Wegman's generic brand is also pretty darn good. read more

This review is for the pizza. The pizza quality and service has really declined. Took home a few slices and I had to cut off the bottoms of them because it was like trying to eat uncooked dough. I have told them several times that I think their pizza oven temp is not working and they just shrug. I like their bake at home pizza better than the Pizza shop pizza. read more

The Disneyland of Markets as I like to call it, everything in the place is awesome! Yes it can get pricey in a hurry so if you are on a budget watch yourself as things can add up quickly especially in the café part of the store but don't be afraid to try the 'Wegmans Brand'. Do have one complaint about the Classic Subs Dept. My wife had been in major surgery at Muhlenburg Hospital down the street and she had come out of the recovery room well past dinner. She asked if I could run to Wegmans to get one of the Subs that she loves so much, she phoned the order in while I ran down to pick it up. Well when I got back with the sub everything was wrong as they did not follow directions. In short they shanked it 'BIG TIME'. She had even asked them to repeat the order back to her as she had told them she had just got out of surgery and was still groggy but the woman that took the order was rude to her on the phone and rude to me when I picked it up. Now I've worked deli counters and yes it's no picnic with the customers sometimes but when someone comes out of major surgery and the first thing they want is a sub from your store that should be a point of major pride in what you do but again it looks like somebody was more interested in getting off work then making a quality sub that Wegmans is known for. I had the misfortune of eating at the Bethlehem Wegman's this evening. i can safely say it was the worse meal I have ever had. The salad bar was fine. However, the onion rings tasted like and had the texture of old leather. The wings were tough, i have never had worse. The mozzarella sticks were dried up and had the texture of sawdust.
