I was quite skeptical about this and was disillusioned of how it could help me. I began researching to get a deeper feel of what hypnotherapy was all about and how it could help me, after some time researching I decided to try it anyway because at that point there was nothing to lose. I found Dr Stephanie Baron on the EMDRIA website after learning about how EMDR therapy can be much…read moremore effective than cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT). Initially, I had tried Better Help. Although the first Better Help therapist was really helpful in assisting me with my own self-care, she acknowledged that she was not EMDR-trained. So I switched over to a second therapist through Better Help who was considered an EMDR therapist. However, much to my dismay, the EMDR therapist through Better Help was not effective and not good at all, and wasted so much of my time. I found myself having to steer her back on track because she would always go on a tangent. The EMDR group webinars through Better Help (led by other EMDR therapists, and not the one who I had worked one-on-one with) were much more effective than my one-on-one sessions with the EMDR therapist who I was paired up with for individual sessions. So that's when I knew something was fundamentally wrong. I looked through the notes I had taken from those EMDR group webinars, searched the EMDRIA website and decided to find an in-person EMDR therapist near me. I found Dr Baron and wished I had found her and worked with her sooner. Although the memories of the trauma I experienced back in Nov 2019 can never truly go away, Dr Baron helped me with her tremendously effective EMDR sessions to help me to overcome my pain and so those memories don't dominate my thoughts on a daily basis. I will have to continue thinking of positive thoughts and things to make me happy to try to distract and navigate me away from the horrible memories I have from the trauma I experienced almost four years from a supposed longtime friend of the family who became unexpectedly inappropriate towards me. But I am really grateful for Dr Baron's high professionalism and remarkable guidance of her EMDR sessions which really have helped to diminish those awful memories. And for that, I am extremely grateful to her. She is a highly intelligent and smart lady who really tries to get to know you from your very first session with her. She wastes no time in leading her sessions. For every session you have, from the very first one to each subsequent session, she makes every minute count in getting right to therapy and helping you get the most out of your session. Overall, I recommend her to anyone in the West Los Angeles area who is looking for an EMDR therapist. Dr Baron is truly amazing :) ! However, for some reason, though, I'm starting to feel a resurfacing or re-emergence of my traumatic experience from four years ago. So I don't think my trauma has fully resolved. I'm not sure if it's just that EMDR therapy has not completely worked for me ever since I finished my sessions a few months ago. But I'll have to re-evaluate what I may need to do in order to not allow that traumatic experience from dominating my thoughts once again. Perhaps, compared to Dr Baron's other clients, I might need a different technique, or I may need repetition of therapy for a more extended period of time for those thoughts to be diminished even further.
