I ended up taking in a movie at the AMC dine-in Thoroughbred 20. I had a wonderful time that I ended up exploring the city a bit afterward. I returned a few days later to spend almost an entire day here. The AMC had effective air-conditioning. It was special in that I could order food and have it delivered to my seat. The bacon chicken mac was excellent. It was fun having yummy mac while taking in a flick. I loved visiting this city that's south of Nashville. It felt suburban, similar to Markham. It had everything that I needed when it came to shopping and dining. I dined and grabbed takeout at these establishments: - Old Chicago - Culver's - Shake Shack I had wonderful experiences at all three eateries. I'd return to relive them. I remember hitting a Starbucks drive-thru. It had just closed, so I can't comment on how great this cafe is other than the man was apologetic and polite. This area also has all my favourite stores to spend my hard-earned money at: - Office Depot - Trader Joe's - TJ Maxx - Kohl's - Barnes and Noble I needed a day to hit all of them thoroughly. It was some much fun. The next time I'm in Nashville, I'll consider staying in Franklin. It's nice to be away from all the major tourist attractions after visiting them. (43)

Arrived around 10 a.m. on a Tuesday with my 4-, 3-, and 20-month-old. I was surprised by how…read morecrowded the parking lot was, but there was still plenty of parking available. The library opens at 9 a.m. (earlier than Davidson County libraries, which was nice to know). The children's section is completely separate from the rest of the library and even has its own bathrooms. I really appreciated this because I didn't have to worry as much about other guests. The kids area was very crowded, though there are a lot of different spaces throughout and we still could have found quieter areas if needed. Visibility between sections can make it a little difficult to keep track of multiple kids, but that's somewhat expected in a busy children's library. They normally seem to offer story time, though there wasn't one today. Instead, there was a coloring activity set up in the story time room. There were lots of activities for kids including puppets, trains, blocks, computers, and plenty of tables/seating areas. I also appreciated that snacks weren't allowed in the play area, which helped keep everything clean. I knocked off a star because the staff felt a bit quick to correct kids during normal busy-day behavior, even when parents were already handling it. That said, it was an especially crowded day, so I understand they were probably trying to keep things under control. Overall, this is a great library for young kids with a lot to explore and enough space to spend a good amount of time there.

I was visiting my only high school friend in Franklin, and we were looking for something to do…read moredowntown that did not revolve around eating or drinking for once. She has lived there for years and had never done this tour, which made it feel like a bit of a discovery for both of us. We ended up at the Lotz House Museum, and it turned out to be one of those unexpectedly memorable experiences. On this particular day, we lucked out with Chuck as our guide. He is a former high school history professor, and you can tell immediately. He does not just recite facts, he brings everything to life with stories, details, and just the right amount of drama. The house itself is not large, but that almost works in its favor. Between the stories of the Lotz family and the vivid accounts of the Battle of Franklin happening right outside, you can practically see it all unfolding as you move from room to room. It is the kind of experience that sticks with you long after you leave, and at around seventeen dollars, it feels like an absolute steal. And do not skip the gift shop. Treat yourself to a peach Nehi soda on your way out. It is unexpectedly fantastic, and I am still thinking about how to get my hands on more.

Stunningly beautiful and serene relaxation for adults and fun to explore for kids. If you arrive early on a warm day, start with the loop and aim to get to the Perenn cafe to cool down and have an amazing lunch. The btl was amazing but the grilled sandwich with the added prosciutto was epic. Enjoyed the Japanese garden section the most. Also very shaded for later in the day. The mansion as of August (2026) has an incredible collection of paintings on loan from the Nashville Parthenon that's not to be missed. Then take stroll around the South side of the mansion under the wisteria and past the fountain and waterfall.

From the beginning, the experience was wonderful. After leaving our car and scanning our tickets, there were multiple employees to direct us and answer any questions. We began by exploring the gardens. My personal favorite was the sculpture walk, with several different sculptures hidden around every corner. We then took a self-guided tour of the historic mansion. The mansion is decorated with items from the Cheek family collection, as well as donated items and rotating art exhibits. I particularly loved the wood paneled library and the small morning/dining room. Definitely the place to come if you want some design inspo! Be prepared to walk when you visit. We arrived around 10:30 on a weekend, and were directed to park in the overflow parking. The overflow lot requires a walk on gravel/rock with a slight incline. Although the site is huge, there are plenty of benches and three different restrooms. There are limited food options, but we were able to bring sandwiches and enjoy lunch in the water garden. When visiting, don't miss the iconic Wisteria Arbor or the stables!

There are two stories filled with beautiful views to sit and get some work done while having great scenery to look up at. I also really appreciated the natural lighting all around this library that gives it a welcoming and uplifting feel! Librarians were friendly and helpful, as well. I asked if they could help me get a library card set up and they had it done within a few minutes! Such a great experience in an amazing library. I would definitely recommend and appreciate finding this hidden gem!

If you're a Williamson County resident, be sure to check out the Community Passports available through the library for free admission opportunities. Our tour guide, David, was outstanding. He truly transported us back in time, bringing the people, stories, and events of the Civil War to life in a way that was engaging and memorable. Two moments especially stayed with me. First, seeing the bullet holes that remain in the property was a powerful reminder of just how intense the Battle of Franklin was. Second, standing in the basement where a diverse group of people gathered together seeking safety during the fighting was incredibly moving. It's one thing to read about history in a book and another to stand in the very place where people experienced it and recognize how little time has passed. Whether you're a local or just visiting Franklin, I highly recommend taking the tour. It's a meaningful and fascinating look into a pivotal moment in American history.

Our server, Chris, came and took our drink orders less than a couple of minutes from when we were seated. Brought our drinks out quickly and made sure our glasses were never empty. He told us the specials for the day and everything sounded so good. But since I wasn't all that hungry, I got the brussels sprouts and the calamari. Both were delicious and the brussels sprouts being tossed with sweet thai chili sauce made it so that my friend could have some, since she has a vinegar allergy.

The location was easy to find and a quick drive from Franklin. Plenty of parking was available for our group. The lot was gravel which I usually hate, but I didn't mind their lot. The field trip was well organized and had three parts. It was a great mix of being educational and entertaining. The kids started in the barn area and ate lunch (that they brought) at the tables in there. Bathrooms were available in that building. The guide there (a taller gentleman) taught the kids dances and etiquette. He was great with the kids. Next, we moved to the home tour. The guide there obviously did not like kids and was on the dry side. It was still educational and interesting to see the house. Lastly, the kids made cards using feathers and "ink" for writing. It was a nice variety of activities. Travellers Rest is a good spot to check out for people with an interest in history.
