Addendum 5/3/2015: I have just read something rather dumb. At the website of the Greeley City…read moreGovernment (sigh) Greeley's elected and unelected elite gives this as the Police Departments mission: "The Mission of the Greeley Police Department is a simple and direct one: Improve the quality of life for the people of our community." Can you believe that! Have you ever heard of such a thing! Not "serve and protect" (a cliche, I admit, but closer to what the real role of the police department is). Not "law and order." Not "catch criminals". Just "improve the quality of life for the people of our community." Well, I need my quality of life improved. Cleaner water, a sun porch, higher pay, a newer car, better medical care, good meals, an exercise program, another couple of channels on television, good friends, car repairs, free tickets to Bronco games. So if I understand the Greeley Government correctly, the police are supposed to do this for me? :D :D When they rewrite the mission for the Police Department, it is hoped they will do so intelligently, aware of what the actual purposes and functions are of a police department. And drop this feel-good, we will pamper you attitude. In the meantime, the Police Chief himself does understand the role of police. he summarizes the mission:: Apprehend career criminals Improve traffic safety conduct an annual, free Citizen Police Academy provide speakers on law enforcement and crime prevention community outreach suppression of crime enforcement of laws and ordinances perform background checks maintain the records for the Greeley Police Department, Weld County Sheriff, and Kersey Police Department ... and so on. I always read Greeley Police Chief Jerry Garner's editorials in "The Tribune" newspaper of Greeley. He is an excellent writer. His articles let me know how he views the role of law enforcement, and what he sees as Greeley's strengths and challenges. I also like the information he gives about particular projects and accomplishments of the Police Department. I maintain the opinions voiced in my previous review.

These fireworks are illegal by all the city's standards. We have complained to the police every year, and they do nothing. This situation will probably end in loss of property or personal injury. This is just one of many situations that leaves us wondering what the Greeley Police Department actually does. I think I'll list each situation separately. Stay tuned!

Let me tell you the officers that came to help. These guys must live in another state and drive to work. They were the most well trained officers for this situation. I want to thank you three for helping us figure it out. Man, im impressed! All im really saying! Support these poor officers that have to come to US figure our lives out. Thank you Windsor Police Department! I hope to never use u again!

I tried to get him to come to me for about 15 minutes so I could read the information on his collar but he wouldn't let me. I called the cops to tell them there was a dog running around in traffic and he was liable to get hit by a car. I spent about another 45 minutes chasing the dog, losing him for a while, then seeing him, then losing him again. I called twice more about 15 and 30 minutes after the initial call to ask if they were coming and they didn't give me a real answer. They eventually called me back to say they weren't coming. The dog did not appear to have a fear of cars so he may have gotten hit, I have no idea. I then went to the precinct to try to get them to send someone again and they were closed because it was Saturday. I'm from New York so maybe this is a Colorado thing but I've never heard of a police station that's only open during business hours.

In brief, I used the Longmont Police Department a 3xs in 2022:…read more Once, to report a tailgater who I stopped and confronted, who then shoved me and proceeded to follow me for the next 10 mins in his car. Until I stopped and ran back at him. The police analysis was I provoked him to get out of his car and push me when I stepped out. After handing over pictures of the assailant, his car and license place, the police follow-up said he denied any wrong doing. Would the outcome be the same if this involved the officer's daughter? The 2nd, was a guy who yelled at me that my parked car was in his way. While moving it he followed in his car. While parked and calling the police to report being followed, the guy walked down the side of my car and punched me twice through the open window. I gave the police a description of the man and car. And said I believe he lives in the surrounding neighborhood. The police could not locate him. I found him 2 weeks later and verified it was him doing a "door knock". I notified the police of his address. They reported back that his car and he did not match my description. They refused to take any further action. Even when I told him he can be heard/verified in the background of the phone call reporting the incident to the police. The officer at the time said "I got into an altercation"; no further investigation is necessary. He refused to pull and review the recorded call for a voice match. The 3rd, I left a msg with the Police "Complaint Board" about the 2 above incidences being improperly investigated. (If I recall correctly, the "Complaint Board" and Police Sargent are one in the same.) To date, no one has called me back from the "Complaint Board" nor the "Sargent". Would I use them again? NO!!!!
