When i tell you this place is perfect for all ages I really mean it. My kids loved the indoor pool and spent hours swimming every day. The lodge has 10 bedrooms and the space is great as we never once felt cramped. There is foosball, Karaoke and I found out on the last day an original sega genesis(I didnt play as we were packing up when I found it ugh). The clincher for me is the owner Teena, she is so sweet and nice. Anytime we had a question she would respond immediately and even called to check in with us to ensure we were all set and happy. The pool is maintained daily by Dale and he was a delight as well. He informed us of some great spots to visit in the area and was so nice and helpful. During our stay it rained every day but that didn'tt matter since there was so much to do at the lodge to keep everyone entertained. We would definitely stay there again and were so happy with our stay. Thank you Teena for being so warm and hospitible

For the price we could have easily booked a beautiful updated hotel mountainside with amenities but felt the private pool would be worth it and we like to be able to put our young kids to sleep and hang out together playing games. Honestly the pool isn't great. Even keeping covered all day it was pretty cold to be in it. Basically only the kids swam because the adults were shivering. It's also carpeted with leaves a lingering musty smell throughout the house. The kitchen is small, the bathrooms are outdated and In general it wasn't amazing. Maybe if it was affordable it would have been worth it but at the rate of over $6000 for 4 nights it wasn't up to the standards you would expect. You need to provide everything yourself. Sheets, pillows, towels, toilet paper we forgot hand towels and had to go buy them it's just obnoxious. Again just normal hotel amenities but when paying so much you would expect to have things provided. We rent Airbnb's and vacation homes a lot, to be more comfortable than a hotel and this was significantly less comfortable. The owners are so stringent we were scared to even ask for the pool temperature to be warmer or the slippery ice conditions out front to be addressed after they treated us so aggressively over the phone before checking in. You'll pay a hefty cleaning fee but also be told to basically scrub and clean everything yourself or they will charge your security deposit. I think we paid $550 for them to vacuum? Besides just sub par updates it is frustrating to be spoken down to so rudely and assumed to be some kind of bachelor party when you're just 3 families with kids. If you set your hopes very low and pay half the price maybe then it would have been a worthwhile place to go. Otherwise the pool at cranmore mountain looked great.

Leon and Nellie have been friends of my family for years (even longer than the decades we've been…read morecoming to New Hampshire), but somehow we'd never stayed at the Spruce Moose. Even without the familial connection, I'd be absolutely in love with this place. Family and friends gathered this past weekend for a memorial hike in honor of my dad, who passed in 2007. Leon and Nellie went out of their way to accommodate us, down to even offering additional rooms when some extra guests appeared and getting up extra early to make us to-go egg sandwiches we could take long on our hike up Mt. Washington. Both our group and the other guests at the Inn were treated like treasured friends in their home and it felt like a big old family reunion for us all. The Spruce Moose is the perfect location---a short walk to the adorable North Conway village, and a quick drive to countless hiking options. The decor makes you feel like you're visiting friends in a luxurious mountain home. Zeb and Avery, the two trusty labs, greet you at the door and will cuddle you on the couch for hours if you let them. The beds are comfy, and the rooms contain no tvs so you can truly enjoy the nature around you (though there IS wi-fi if you need your technology fix). Breakfast in the morning is delicious and filling. Tea and coffee are available at any time. It was an amazing weekend, in no small part to Leon and Nellie. I will be back to the Spruce Moose the next time I come to North Conway!

Avery and Jed are the most welcoming doggies, I was only with them for one night and I miss them terribly. The breakfast was excellent, coffee and tea are available all the time. My room was beautiful, the shower had great water pressure, and the lodge itself is super warm and cozy. I honestly felt like I was visiting relatives I just hadn't met yet.

We enjoy the drinks, but mostly we enjoy meeting and visiting with other people . One night they were so booked that they restricted those who could come into the lounge as to just the guest of the manor. This is our fourth year to stay at the Manor. It's number one attribute is that it is vintage. That's very unique. The age of the manner is also its greatest weakness. The furniture is old and well used, and it shows. Much of The carpet is old and dirty. We think management could do a lot better job keeping this beautiful building in better shape. We spent a half a day visiting other hotels and Inns in the community. As much as we like Stonehurst, we may not return next year because of the poor condition and we were very unhappy with our small room on the third floor. They do not have an elevator. We do want to mention something about the staff. If The staff is here next year, they will be a real pull to attract us to return. Top notch people. We stayed for a week. Dinning in the same restaurant twice a day gets old. However, the food and service are good.

We were going to get drinks, and then head over to our reservation at a different restaurant. Upon entering the building, we found the lounge and were greeted by a hostess, who informed us we could sit anywhere. We chose a cozy-looking rounded couch near the fire. When I sat down, I noticed the table in front of us was covered with drinks from a previous party. There was also a menu left over from them. I decided to ignore this and we picked up the menu to look at what drinks they offered. I wish I could say something about what the drinks tasted like or their quality, but the only thing we consumed here was the air we breathed. We were pretty much ignored the entire 20-30 minute period that we sat on that couch. The only sort of acknowledgment we got was from a girl that came in with big plates of food, asking different patrons if they ordered the meal she was holding. She asked us and two other groups before walking out with the food. I understand how busy it can get, and I would have been okay with waiting longer if we had been greeted by the bartender. Saying something like "Hey guys, I'll be right with you." May seem small and insignificant, but it lets the customer know that you see them and will be back to take care of them. We ended up going to The Wentworth, where they also have a bar/cocktail lounge. The waitress was very busy running around with plates, but she said hello and made us feel welcome. Ever since we went to Stonehurst Ive been reading over reviews, and there are so many things I was shocked to see. The price of a stay is way too expensive for the type of feedback this place is getting. I hope things change so that people can enjoy this historic location once more.

We have stayed here three times. The first time was great! It was about nine years ago, but things have steadily declined since then. The second time the house was in decent shape, but things were starting to slip. This last time we were really disappointed. When we arrived doors were missing off cabinets, handles off dressers, my husband actually went and bought a screw driver to fix this stuff (why not just take care of it before new guests arrive?). The game room was a mess, dangerously so. In fact, one of the side tables in there broke when my daughter leaned on it and she got a pretty bad cut on her chin. The pool table was warped, the triangle broken, and there was only one pool stick. The air hockey table was duct taped and ready to fall over, and the foosball table was a mess too. We emailed him about these things and he showed up asking for the security deposit and quickly back peddled when my husband again mentioned this stuff. I mean shower bars were ripped off, a few holes in the wall. We documented it all so we wouldn't get blamed. He never tried that. I don't want to mislead you, but he never offered anything in the way of an apology or discount. He simply said, "I don't police the place." Which was funny since he wanted money to make sure nothing went wrong... When we left we forgot a nutribullet there and after talking to him and him telling us his guy had it and they would mail it to us, he never did. I offered to pay the shipping. I reached out again via phone and email to see if maybe he had forgotten, but he just ignored me. It's unfortunate this all happened, because like I said, functionally he had a good thing going. It's too bad it feel apart the way it did. I won't stay here again.

It was concerning to say the least. 1 hour check in window only. 4-5pm. Fee of $150 to add 1 hour earlier check in. Broken glass on driveway from broken flood light. Luckily I had my sandals on. The two stars is based on the property location. While this may be a great ski getaway for couples…read moreor singles, it is not a place for young kids or those looking for comfort: The spacing between balusters is large enough that a toddler could easily crawl between them. We had to move a couch to prevent this. the mattress in one of the upstairs bathrooms has to be 30+ years old and all springs. We moved the mattress from the 3rd floor loft down for the days we rented. The spiral staircase is easily navigated and cause some minor injuries because it is narrow and carpeted (making it slippery) The TV did not work. We were told the settings must be wrong as it worked the week prior. Both guys present were tech saavy, it was the bulbs, not the settings. Thank goodness for laptops and netflix for the kiddos Neither bathroom is on the main floor requiring a trip upstairs or downstairs. The upstairs bathroom shower is so small that even as a 5'5" female (size 4/6) had difficulty showering and the downstairs bathroom had tons of ants. While no big deal, a mouse scurried across the wood burning stove mantel. When we checked out the grill outside, there was so much caked on charred remains (with no grill brush) and the ashtray was stored inside (Yuck for where my food is grilled). Oh, and we were informed by the owner the day before that the washer/dryer were on the fritz (however, since we were only there for 4 nights, we wouldn't need them - umm we swim, we hike, we run - a washer-dryer is always a nicety). While I will never stay here again, with some upgrades (mattresses, fixed tiles, pest control), it would be a good place for families with older children - NOT good for families with toddlers or infants. It is a hazard. **UPDATE: After speaking with the owner, who responded promptly to our complaints of the property, she assured us that the mattresses were being replaced and the television/pest issues resolved..** If these issues are addressed, it would be a decent place to stay for adults and families with older children (ages 4+). it is close to NC center, Echo Lake, and other attractions.
