I'm honestly relieved to see this place shut down. Patients were kept in a group room all day--50+ people on the adult side--with no therapy of any kind and the strong smell of urine. When I asked when therapy took place, other patients laughed and said, "They don't do that here." Patients were forced to stay in the day room with nothing to do except watch TV. I heard multiple people talk about how they struggled to stay awake during the day because if they couldn't sleep at night, nurses refused to give them any medication to help. The doctor was by far the worst part of the experience--rude, dismissive, and controlling. If you didn't agree with him or act overly polite, he would threaten to keep you there indefinitely. Upon admission, they zip-tied a tracking device to my wrist. The room I was assigned had a puddle of urine in the corner and hair all over the floor. Only after I made a scene was I moved to a clean room with fresh sheets. When I was finally released, I was given 30 minutes to arrange a ride home. I was told that if I couldn't secure one in that time, I would be forced to stay another day. The nurses were young and negligent--especially alarming given that this is supposed to be a psychiatric and elder care facility. The entire place was an absolute mess. People were treated like animals--held captive with no real help, support, or supervision. My heart truly goes out to the people who were forced to stay because they didn't have family to advocate for them, and especially to the elderly who were abused and neglected. read more

I am delighted to hear that this place closed its doors recently. I hope my complaint to the Texas Accreditation board as well as directly to the parent organization that owns Wellbridge was a part of this decision. I was voluntarily admitted in early June for chronic depression and placed in the older adult wing. The nurses, doctors and social workers were wonderful. most of the techs who spend the majority of the day with patients were not, especially to the most vulnerable. when my family arranged to and I requested a transfer after 3 nights, I almost backed out because I didn't want to leave those vulnerable patients. I had come to their defense against threats of withholding water and food and turning off A/C in their rooms in June in Texas! One young immature tech called a patient "retarded". Another taunted me and made fun of me for complaining that yelling at patients with anxiety disorders is not right. She proceeded to mock me to other patients saying, "Keep your voices down people! We can't upset Lisa!". i walked over to her and said, "I may be depressed but I'm not stupid.". My journal entries written in marker (no sharp objects like pens or pencils allowed) document each day. i can share them by request. I dare say this abusive behavior seemed to be directed at the patients who were nit the same race as these techs. read more

Hard to connect with my loved one. Seemed that staff wasn't communicating well to give me the same information.

I was just discharged from Wellbridge this week. It is difficult to review with one group of stars. I will summarize below as they go from 1 to 5. But first, some of these reviews sound like patients I heard claiming the staff broke their ribs, assaulted them, etc. I witnessed this activity, initiated by the patients, who would call friends and family loudly and make it sound like a horror house, which it is not. I never saw any level of abuse by the staff. They were, for the most part, friendly, and yes, at times were required to use an appropriate level of force - understand that this is a psychiatric hospital. There were issues, good and bad. 1) My husband attempted to leave a message for me - but I never received it. Since my discharge, I have left messages for 2 patients who became close friends. We were going through really bad times together. I do not personally believe the messages were given to them at this point. I called again tonight and was told the patient's phone to call was not working. I challenge that. Several times when I called the facility this week, the phone was not answered. That is not acceptable in my view. The night that I arrived, the transport driver was frustrated because no one would answer the doors and he was told the bell did not work. We waited outside for at least 30 minutes. 2) Patients who are calm and safe to be around are not segregated from the more aggressive patients. That created a bit of a fear factor in those of us who needed temporary help vs. those who appeared to need more permanent care. However, the staff acted appropriately with the "events" that one may expect in a mental health need environment. As our rooms are not locked at night for security reasons, I'm assuming regarding self-harm concerns, there was concern that an aggressive patient could easily enter the room although there was security, not always paying attention, at the end of the hall. 3) The nurses/doctors and key management contact Josiah were excellent in consultation. 4) The group sessions were excellent, and the speakers were friendly, understanding, and professional. 5) My biggest surprise, the food was good - I was shocked and gained a few pounds. Carrot cake, beef stroganoff, meatloaf, a Chinese lunch, eggs for breakfast, bacon with a croissant, snacks - not a restaurant but surprisingly good. In summary, if the executives read this, 1) and 2) are key concerns, I hope you address these immediately. When the transport driver becomes more anxious than the patient, it is worthy of review! Otherwise, the extremely negative reviews, unless there was a recent management change, are not reflective of the facility based on my experience. read more

My brother went in doing well and came out drugged, falling, and unable to speak well, nor think rationally. They will not release the records so we will probably have to sue them for copies and if they do send anything they are charging for this. Those are his records and he paid for them and his doctor needs to know what happened to him I. 2 1/2 wks. If you care about the person who needs help please do not send them there. My brother was sent by Atria Grapevine and they told him it was to adjust his meds. It is the worst and most dangerous place I have ever witnessed. read more

This is the worst mental facility I've ever been in. The staff doesn't care about the patients well being. A deranged male patient kept coming in my room at night. I didn't sleep the whole 10 days I was there. They had no control over this man. I was so traumatized. The food was inedible. This place just herds people in and herds people out. The bathrooms were nasty and I was sick for 2 weeks after being discharged. Don't go there and don't let anyone take you there unless you want to experience hell. I've never been admitted any longer than four to 5 days at other facilities. I could say a lot more but it's all too much. read more

A friend of ours went to Wellbridge for a three-day evaluation to determine if he would be appropriate for a memory care facility. His wife brought him there voluntarily, but as soon as he arrived, the psychiatrist filed with the court for a commitment order. Why would he do that when the man was admitted voluntarily? Very bizarre! It's the end of April and they are not allowing any visitors, using COVID as an excuse although every medical and assisted living facility has eased such precautions long ago. I was sent to Wellbridge Plano after alcohol detox in another hospital. Medicare paid. this is not a treatment facility for addiction. there was no counseling or any support. i was one of two addict/alcoholics. the other patients there had Alzheimer's or had transferred from a nursing home due to aggressive attitude or to get there medications regulated. everyone was overmedicated, they added 5 different antipsychotic drugs the first day. food was horrible but I didn't expect much. there was no exercise for the elderly that were in wheelchairs. i also witnessed patients being zip-tied to the arm of wheelchairs so they wouldn't fall out while sleeping. the other side of the ward we were in was the psychiatric ward. it was locked up from us but they frequently would feed a few to our side until someone got hurt meaning one of us. A man that was in my ward about late 40s was constantly making lewd remarks to me about myself and my mother. poking me and grabbing ciggarettes out of my mouth at break. the showers in our rooms had half doors so we couldnt lock ourselves in. I finally got the nerve to shower and he came in and grabbed me on my backside and i turned and slapped him. i was taken to the other side where i was zip-tied to a chair for 20 minutes for assault. In that 20 minutes I had food thrown at me, grabbed by men and women both. I have no idea what they did to the man that tried to molest me. You have no recourse in there. No way to communicate with family. I was unfamiliar with Alzheimers but I did notice that most patients were okay during the day. Very coherent and cleaned up a little before visitation but by then they were completely different. I knew nothing of the "twilite dementia or whatever they call it. i felt very sorry for them. The staff was horrible. I was there 10 days and never could find out what my part of the insurance was. I was told i could not leave when i wanted to. I was threatened with the "chair" again so i sat quietly trying to get someone to go call my family. My sister finally was able to get me out. This was in 2018. I was fortunate that I was 58 and in good health except for my addiction. I was overmedicated which for an addict is not okay. The way people are treated is horrific. I trusted the hospital where I detoxed first but they have no idea what really goes on in there. If we had read reviews prior I would never have gone there. Please do your research before placing someone or yourself in any facility. read more

My mother was refused access to a phone to be able to call me. I called several times and was told they would have her return my call and no one told her I called. I left messages for a Dr to call me and they never did. My mother was hit by 2 nurses when she was calling for help due to the fact she was unable to use her legs to get into a wheelchair. She was then put in the common area and told to "shut up". Several hours later my mother was transported to the ER for vomiting what looked like "coffee grounds" which was blood. RUN from this place!!! I am filing a complaint with the state. read more

Our son was admitted into this facility following a Mental Health Crisis. We (parents) flew down from out of state to visit him. We went straight from the airport to the facility. Our first encounter was with Front Desk. There was Keesha-she displayed unforgettable understanding. She had a very pleasant disposition. Although we could not 'see' our son due to COVID restrictions-she calmed us down and took care of our initial fears and frustrations And took care of our needs including communicating with the staff inside for questions she could not answer. On the same day (Sept 20, 2021evening shift) a nurse helped us a LOT to locate keys in our son's backpack for us. She did this with genuine understanding and care for our needs. She had her regular work to do-yet she made time for us. Unfortunately I do not remember her name. Traci M (Director of Clinical Services) went over and beyond in every area of care. She is something else altogether ! Her clinical knowledg/expertise, her excellent communication skills which rings true with sincerity, her cheerfulness which could lift anybody's spirits, her very true and genuine understanding of the patient and family's fears and needs-which could really all translate into compassion in its true sense. But she is not 'weepy' with compassion. All put together she is like a dynamo of soul power ! We did not really 'see' any of the other nurses involved in our son's care inside the facility. most of them spoke kindly on the phone re our son and answered all our questions as best as they could. Our son liked Kara cos she helped him whenever he went to her with a problem. The DON ( Ashlee) was very supportive and communicated well about our son, understood our fears and frustrations well and tried to help us as best as she could. Cheerful enough to pep up our spirits ! Dr. Ashraf ( the attending Psychiatrist for our son)- he was very pleasantly professional. Respectful and thoughtful towards us and our fears and our son's future. He calmly communicated his clinical understanding/ diagnosis of our son's current condition, without getting negative about the future. THIS PLACE NEEDS TO BE SHUT DOWN , cleaned out and started over with new management and staff. I have never seen such blatant disregard for care. After being admitted, for help to fight addiction, my sister was escorted to the dining room and just left there. After almost 5 hours she was still waiting in the dining room. She had not been seen by anyone, not even a walk by from a counselor, doctor or nurse, no food had been provided nor a room assigned. She was just left there with other unattended patients, most of whom were laying on the floor, fighting, screaming, catatonic, etc. She found a phone and called me. I called to reach the staff and was given the run around. No messages were given to my sister that I had called or was trying to reach her. It was a nightmare to get to her and get her out of there. We took her elsewhere where she was seen to and assisted immediately. This place really needs a surprise inspection and constant follow up. I wish I could give it negative stars. read more

For starters if there was a negative star ratings I would most definitely rate it -5 stars. My friend who voluntary admitted himself, was refused to check out... it's been 5 days and they told him he'd be in there for a month. He is heavily sedated at all times so he doesn't sound like himself. This is a person who struggles with depression NOT A MENTAL PATIENT! Next I would like to mention the staff there is TERRIBLE. They refuse to let him talk to visitors, I asked him how they were treating him and what's going on they disconnected his phone and cancel all my calls I would have to contact him through another number because my phone is blocked... I asked to speak to a manager she/he's always busy in a meeting or training. One staff member there named Winter is trying to have inappropriate relationships with the patients there. I called to speak with my "friend" she asked who I was I said his girlfriend she hung up the phone on me I called back and she just said no he can't talk to you. I called back again 10x and I am not over exaggerating I called 10x and someone maybe one of the patients answer because when I said hello can I speak to "John" he went to go get him and I asked why can't he talk to me and he told me that she was upset because he has a girlfriend and she didn't want him talking to me. HOW UNPROFESSIONAL! It's the fact he went there for help and they aren't doing anything to help him besides put him in a greater state of depression, in that facility it is HELL on earth. This place needs to be shut down! Do not let your loved ones go here even if they are mentally unstable please find and alternative place because this is not it. I plan on contacting the better Business Bureau and reporting everyone up there. read more

The doctors dont communicate with your doctor. They dont tell you what meds they were given while there. My family member went in with 10 meds and came out with 30. I was unable to get any records . I dont know what tney gave him to this day. So so so horrible. When i questioned a medication i was met with indignation. I dont believe his teeth were brushed the entire time there. In the early Fall of 2019, I was admitted to WellBridge Hospital for a medicine change. During this difficult time, I witnessed a strong presentation by Kaitlynn, the counselor who supervised the IOP (intensive outpatient program. As she emphasized the value of attending the WellBridge IOP group, I knew it was what I needed. Two days after coming home, I began a ten-week program that met three times a week from 10 am to 2 pm. The WellBridge van drove me from my home in Dallas to the IOP in Plano and then home each day. We had coffee and hot lunches. Combined with my own hard work, Kaitlynn was the key to my successful IOP experience. She wisely taught and led us on a journey of self-discovery and compassion. Like unpeeling an onion, we uncovered layers of ourselves that needed healing. Because of the richness she brought, I didn't want to miss a day, even when I was tired. The IOP group became like a family with Kaitlynn as our leader. I felt safe to talk and be myself. In the spirit of confidentiality, I saw people begin to open, share their thoughts and ideas, and begin to make changes. We supported one another. Had to sign out AMA because of such non-therapeutic environment. Nurses didnt know what they were doing. Patients very low level. Male staff walked in on you all night to check on you without knocking. They played Dateline on tv all day (murder documentaries) and locked us out of our rooms during the day even if we were sick and needed to lay down. Nurses typically left patients unattended while they were inside nursing station. Some nurses were great, some not. Groups were not very helpful, if there were any groups that day. read more

Spoke with the admissions agents on a few occasions to see if this would be a good fit for my mother, suffering from geriatric depression. She was not eating or changing or showering prior to her admission, and they stated they would help with all the above, including manage her medication, especially her antidepressants. All she would drink was a high calorie protein drink, 3-4 times per day prior to admission, so she had some calories and minimal nutrition in her current state of depression. Walked in on her own ability and while not in great health, was not how she was upon discharge 6 days later. Took a chance they could help her and admitted her last Thursday (19th), at 1pm. She was changed into hospital gowns(2) and sent back. We were told we would be able to call several times per day to speak with her, and that a doctor would call us back within 24 hrs to give us an assessment and evaluation with a plan for treatment. 90% of the time we called to speak with her, there was no answer. 6 days later with verbal assurances from Shanti Carter(CEO) and Ashley(DON) that she had eaten about 75% of her dinner on Monday evening, had showered and changed her gown to clean ones, we had a video call with her, coordinated by her social worker/advocate, Meosha Tye, we saw the terrible condition she was in, weak, barely able to keep her eyes open or head up any longer, could barely talk, and according to Meosha, had in fact not bathed or changed since she was admitted. Took her out of the hospital and taken directly to an ER, where we were told she was suffering from dehydration, malnutrition, urinary tract infection and hyperchloremic metabolic acidosis. She has been given several IV fluids, antibiotics and waiting for some treatment for the acidosis. Wellbridge is terrible, Shanti and Ashley are no honest or worse, do not care about patients enough to even meet and assess before calling me to give me an update. They flat out lied! Have already filed a complaint with the Texas Department of HHS. Do not take anyone here, there has to be alternatives that treat their patients, not ignore them. Some of the nurses seemed to actually care, but doctors and administrators are pathetic and should reevaluate their career choices. read more

2 months ago I went there voluntarily to get help but I just got more trauma out of it . I got ignored by the nurses and the techs didn't know what they were doing . I got hit by a patient that hit 6 other ppl . They didn't do anything but just let her walk around . I was working on a puzzle and I hear her name being called out , she was coming behind me again but I got up and went to my room . Thank god my door was open . They need to be more professional at what they work on . They gave me medicine and wouldn't tell me what the side effects were . I had to google them when I got out . I would not like other people to go there to get help . A guy that's worked there, Charley Montoya was mad when I told him I wanted to leave since I was there voluntarily. read more

A beloved family member has lived with severe mental illness for decades. There have been SO many hospitalizations, including several emergency episodes, and many times our loved one tells a hospital not to contact us -- as is every patient's right. Often we have no idea where our loved one may turn up after Parkland Dallas transfers them to a community hospital, and no idea about discharge date or conditions. We have been brushed off by hospital clinical staffs all over town. Highly frustrating, as we are the only people on earth who are permanently committed to our loved one's care and well-being. Long story I won't go into, but somehow our loved was transferred to Wellbridge -- and somehow Wellbridge was able to get our loved one's consent to talk with us about all aspects of the case. Pure gold! The prognosis is poor, but we need the truth! We are beyond grateful for the outreach from Wellbridge. Each person has been has been wonderfully forthcoming and really a perfect consultant for our meeting needs: Dr Haqqani, social worker Meosha, head nurse Ashley, Patient Advocate Kathy. Each has been a REAL human being. They have helped immensely. And our loved one is much much better. read more

Our family is highly dissatisfied with this facility. Our mother was sent here from her nursing home to regulate her medicine, but she became catatonic after her admission. Was able to see her the next day and she looked pitiful. The care staff is extremely lazy and not helpful at all. Very bad place to place your loved one. read more

As an ex employee to Wellbridge, I can confirm it's a Medicare scam. The quality of the hospital is horrifying, patients are constantly going to the hospital due to things like dehydration and not having their basic needs met. I wouldn't keep my dog there on a weekend. The administration also forces staff to report criteria that didn't happen so that insurance will cover their stay and extend it. I'm surprised this place hasn't been shut down yet due to the unethical treatment of the elderly and deceiving families on a daily basis. read more

I am extremely grateful for the thoughtful care my mother received from the staff at WellBridge. They literally saved her life and got our family to a much better place. I would highly recommend WellBridge to anyone with a elderly parent, friend or loved one having mental or behavioral challenges. They brought calm and confidence to a very tough situation. Recently one of my family members had a mental health issue and was treated as an in-patient at Wellbridge Plano. Since this facility has been purchased by Kindred Healthcare as their first foray into Behavioral Healthcare a few months ago the healthcare services and staff have exponentially improved. The new Clinical Director, Traci M, is amazing - she spends an incredible amount of time at the facility - is even there on weekends and is very hands-on; leading classes, talking with families, interacting with doctors and making the whole operation run smoothly. She is professional, experienced, kind, empathetic and caring. I was amazed to find that she gives her cell phone number to patients' families and responds to all texts and phone calls quickly. I was terrified when I first heard that my family member was going to be placed at Wellbridge (based on past reviews and patient experiences) but our experience there has been 100% positive. read more

As the Executive Director of a Memory Care Community, I encounter a lot of difficult behaviors from my residents that they unfortunately cannot help due to their brain injuries or the unfortunate effects of the dementia disease they have. I was so blessed on a day that my community was experiencing a very difficult time with one of our residents whom needed a little extra help for his mental state at that time that we could not further manage in our community for him. My Director of Nursing contacted WellBridge and told them our situation, WellBridge quickly got the information they needed, quickly sent over Yin to assess our resident, he was accepted and transportation was there to pick him up immediately. The process was made so smoothly, Yin was so compassionate as she spoke to our resident who was in a crisis at the time, she kept us informed minute by minute, we really appreciated how she handled the situation. Not only were we please with the admission process but also how immediately the doctor contacted the family to keep them informed with their plan of action and it was followed through. I have a good friend in there, since she went in about 10 days ago she has been over medicated to the point of barely being able to talk, the medication makes her mouth dry out terribly and her pupils are the size of pinheads. She can now barely hold a conversation. She did not have these issues 2 weeks ago before she went there. I went to visit multiple times, each time I went in their policies seemed to change, nothing is in writing, it all depends on who you talk to, one employee will tell you the other employee is wrong. Very few visitors there, now I can see why, people just give up. Do not put your loved ones in here. read more

My mother went in to Wellbridge for evaluation for placement in a memory care facility. Everyone was so nice to begin with. But my mother came out three weeks later with heart failure after repeated falls, which she had never done before and no one would communicate with us about it. Why? I don't actually know. I wasn't power of attorney so they wouldn't return calls or give any information. My brother who did have POA told me her physician (not a Wellbridge Doctor) said the drugs Wellbridge gave her caused adverse effects. They wouldn't even give her primary physician her final medical records! Within a month she was in hospice and died. I don't know how this place can operate without correction and oversight. It is certainly a grief to our family to not be informed of our mother's health. And a shock that she deteriorated so quickly after having walked in on her own strength just a few weeks before being buried in the ground. read more

Run in the opposite direction. I had a relative try that place for alcohol recovery. He was treated poorly except for one nurse. The doctor and nurse manager lied to him. He thought they may be putting something in the food because he had diarrhea while he was there as well as most of all the other patients. Many were defecating on themselves and waiting to be cleaned up. This place is definitely not good for alcohol recovery if you want a nice calm and comfortable place to get counseling and reflect on how you can move forward. Perhaps the other recent review I see who gave them four stars was in a different area because it definitely wasn't where my relative was at. read more

I was there for a month. The food was reasonably good but they need to pay more attention about the medication given to all the Patient by Nurses. They must be told about the Medication given to them & what purpose & if there is any side effects. They need to keep Eye on the Nurse #Gina who had bad habit of not giving Seizure Medication to actual Patient by name Thomas who was cross the room from me & giving Seizures medication to me intentionally to damage my Brain. That's too cheap & below Human dignity. Also when they release the patients for Group Homes to make sure that each person must be given 120 to 150 Sq.Ft. area room & if the room is around 300 Sq.Ft than only 2 people allowed to share the room. Also each tenant must be given a key so he can go in or out as he chooses.Some of these Group Homes owners specially Angel Homes where I was,are only interested to jam as many persons they can to make more profit & don't give a damn about how these people going to live in their rooms without any fan, TV or Microwave in their room. The group homes must feel much better than Motel room. Please look into these matter very seriously. I end paying $300 for a 4 days & than I left. N.Mirani read more
