We ended up at Crystal Springs and it was well maintained, the hosts were extremely friendly and accommodating, and the site was perfect for us. There are picnic tables, fire rings with attached grates for BBQing, and bear boxes for food storage. Some sites are better for trailers than others (these are marked). The bathrooms were vault toilets that I thought were quite clean. Cost of the site is $18 a day, $6 for extra vehicle. We also purchased three bundles of wood for $18 (one is $7). There's a rushing river nearby which we walked along but it's not water the kids can play in - it moves pretty fast where we were. But the kids had a lot of fun climbing rocks, playing in the dirt, and playing with glow necklaces in the dark. A great spot with quick in and out of you need it. The hosts, Amy and Eric, were really great.

The towels smelled like a good detergent or fabric softener, had an at home smell to them. The bed was very comfortable, and clean. There was a good sized t.v in the room and a chair, coat rack and the heat worked well. There was also a mini fridge. The only thing it didn't have was a microwave. Maybe some rooms have microwaves, but mine didn't. Other that that is was a perfect room. I' stay here again for the cleanliness, hospitality and the close proximity to the town. The Cut throat Tavern is literally next door. The general store is across the street. There is also a beautiful creek right behind the lodge, I could hear it from my room.

This was concerning, so I was relieved to find they were actually open when I got there. Unfortunately, when I arrived home and the charge was finalized on my card, I found they overcharged me from the total I was provided in the Orbitz app. The room was ok aside from a solid spiderweb in a corner- and I did end up killing a large spider & some kind of beetle. The AC in the room I ended up with was not working, and although they had put a second fan in the room, it was just too hot. I ended up leaving a day early because it was so uncomfortable. I would not recommend or stay here again.

I was hoping there would be a campground map but the park ranger hasn't had time to make one. The campgrounds is small and quiet. It is near the lake. They have hot FREE shower which was great and the washroom was also heated. I stayed at campsite 21, the only downside was not having two trees to hang up my hammock. Since this campground is lacking photos I took a bunch to share with future campers.

Free showers, clean running water and a camp host on site to help with any questions. I would warn you this is bear country they are down in the lower elevations because of the Long winter, dont leave any food out of your bear box or any at all in your tent. We had two bears visit our camp every nite looking for a easy meal. Bring a few pots and a wooden spoon to make noise with this seems to help drive tome off for a note. Also bear spray would also help. The lake is OK for fishing, no swimming the lake has leeches so stay out of the water. I would suggest anglers have a float tube to fish this lake with success. In the middle of the lake is the best, work close to the weed line and you should land a few nice fish. The area has few stores to stock up, there wood fords near the junction of 88 & 89, the Sierra Pines store a few miles past the 88 & 89 junction, a gas station in markleeville about 7 miles in from the 88 & 89 junction. Please remember to not leave your trash pick up what you brought in! I say check it out!

I was out in a field near the business location, close to the Gardnerville Nevada dog park. All of a sudden they put on a show for me, best standing view and all to myself. Some of them waved! Cool to hear the hot air/see the flames. What a fantastic parade of balloons. Next time I'm up here I'll go for a ride!

After having my run canceled last year due to smoke, I decided to give it another try and it was well worth it. The Extra 330LC plane does things you wouldn't imagine is truly an unforgettable experience. Add lake Tahoe views and it's breathtaking . I worked with Josh, who was the pilot, and he was amazing. I purchased the full package to extend the flight over lake Tahoe, my option to fly, and advanced aerobatics and if you have the means too I highly recommend that you do too. It's a once in a lifetime experience. The advanced aerobics included a tail spins, the plane flipping front over back and an inverted spins over Lake Tahoe. It was insane and the views were unbelievable. I do recommend taking motion sickness pills (night before and 2 hrs before). I don't typically get motion sickness but I did feel a little queasy by the end, even taking the pills, but it was well worth it. This was one of the best experiences I've ever had. If you're looking for an adrenaline rush, Sky Combat Ace is the place to go!.

So I thought I would make a stop at the Visitors Center to get started. First things first: the Carson Valley Visitors Authority Visitors Center is located on the second floor of the Douglas Historical Society/Carson Valley Museum & Cultural Center on US Highway 395 North in Gardnerville. It is located on the southeast corner of the second floor, in Suite C. There are stairs in the front, but if you have trouble walking, there is an accessible entrance in the back with an elevator. Just ring the buzzer. Make sure to hit "2" in the elevator, not "1", or you will go downstairs into the basement. When I got there, a museum employee greeted me and pointed me to my destination. The Visitors Center itself is small. Basically there is a small area on the right where you can get free brochures and maps, and a counter on the left. There are items for sale on the counter, behind the counter, by the counter, and where the brochures are on the right. They have items like coffee mugs, water bottles, hats, postcards, greeting cards, keychains, t-shirts, dress shirts and blouses, jackets. and a few books for sale. I asked how much the coffee mugs were, and the woman said $10, which was too expensive for my taste. Many of the things they have are expensive, like greeting cards for $4 or $4.50, jackets for $75, men's dress shirts, for $55, etc. They also have a a free tattoo sticker. The employee said this organization was non-profit, as opposed to the Carson City Visitors Authority, which is run by the Consolidated Municipality of Carson City itself. There are windows at the end, but the shades were drawn, due to the sun. They also have free coffee, but I declined since I did not want any caffeine so late in the day. By the door, there are several large maps posted. Curiously, they have Nevada Highway 50 (The Loneliest Road in America) guides/passports there for free, even though they are not on Highway 50 and cannot give you a stamp. You have to get them stamped at the places along Highway 50: Carson City, Dayton, Fernley, Fallon, Austin, Eureka, Ely, and Baker/Great Basin National Park. I took a few visitors guides about US Highway 395, Nevada, and the Carson Valley area to get started. I might come back if I have further questions or need more brochures or souvenirs. The woman behind the counter was nice, answered all my questions, and bagged everything I had up at the end. An employee in the back office was kind of staring out at customers in the counter area while talking to the employee up front, which was kind of strange/creepy. I guess he must have been bored. I really don't have any major complaints. The center was small, at least compared to the South Tahoe and Carson City Visitors Centers, but that is the way it is.
