I drove through the KOA RV park to look at spaces. The owner blocked me in and threatened to call the sheriff. You can't drive in the RV Park to look at spaces. This is the first time I have been accosted for looking for an RV space. Screamed at and told Im trespassing for driving into an RV Park. And yes its all on video. Do not go here. read more

I made a reservation for the upcoming Labor Day holiday weekend. Unfortunately we had to cancel our trip because of being needed at work. Meadowcliff lodge refused to give us a refund because it's a holiday weekend. They stated there's a 14 day cancellation policy, but according to their website it's only seven days requirement to cancel on a holiday weekend. My wife tried to cancel a couple days before I called but their employee Scott strong armed my wife over the phone and refused to help. So I called today 8/23/24 and reviewed their policy with him over the phone which he had to put me on hold several times to check his own policy. Anyway refund refused, he was annoyed with me and not only did he refuse to help he BANNED OUR FAMILY for future visits. So unprofessional. Families Beware. Being a lifelong local I'm very disappointed in the eastern Sierra community. read more

As they say in there advertising, this is one of those places you think about staying at and we finally did. The accommodation are a bit dated but very clean and more than acceptable. There is plenty of things to do with a pool and outdoor games to play on there big lawn area. We will definitely be back to stay but will skip the pizza they offer and bring something or go to a nearby restaurant. read more

Accidentally found this campground when looking for somewhere to stay that would be the halfway point to our destination. Having stayed at KOA's before, I was expecting a basic, clean site to spend the night. We were shocked and thrilled when we arrived to find a very clean, organized, dog friendly camp ground. The restroom/shower facilities were immaculate, the dog park areas were well kept and user friendly and the check in process was super easy (even after hours). We picked a spot near the road because we had an early departure, and while it was a little noisy from passing traffic, it wasn't too bad. This location also has RV rental spaces, a wing of well kept motel accommodations and large family sized RVs for rent with a convenient dog wash near the restrooms. The location is near the Walker River and has great fishing and hiking nearby. We will definitely be back! read more

We arrived with our large family and didn't have a great experience. My in laws arrived an hour before check in and instead of telling them they could go and enjoy the pool until a room was ready... they told him to get off the property and go down to Walker ( a small town down the road) and wait. If you weren't checked in, you can't stay on property. RUDE also- they micro managed everything. The pool closed at 8pm. There were families playing in the pool. It was still light out and they would come by each night and kick everyone out and put the pool cover on. I get rules, but let's be accommodating. We were also told that we would only get 2 towels. One for each person. Very strict on towels. They had cameras everywhere and were nervous that we were all putting our chairs on the lawn to all hang out and have a good time. It was constant security and enforcement. Even when they didn't need to. I would never stay here again. The only thing positive was there sheets on the bed. They were soft and they had a large area to play volleyball and badminton. Also- when we checked in, I had to use the rest room really bad. I asked to use their restroom. They said they didn't have one and I could use the bathroom in my room. I saw that they had a restroom near the lobby by the pool that they could have offered to me. It had a code to enter. They didn't even offer that to me. My in-laws tried to use it before they checked in and they also were told they can't use it. Terrible! And.. we had 5 families staying there! My husband and I spent 4 great days at the Coleville Walker KOA motel. I was expecting a rustic KOA cabin. Instead we happily got a comfortable spacious mini-apartment in a location very convenient to the sights we wanted to visit. Our spacious bedroom room had two comfortable queen beds. Each bed had a large nightstand with a bright table lamp. The room had two comfortable upholstered chairs next to a wood table plus a big long dresser. The AC worked well. I really appreciated that the beds had both a thin blanket and a warm comforter. Our room was quiet. The kitchen had these full- size features: refrigerator, stove with oven, microwave and sink. The kitchen had a table with two chairs. The kitchen was better stocked than any motel kitchen I have seen: at least six ceramic plates, at least six ceramic mugs, stylish glass wineglasses, at least six sets of silverware, toaster, etc. There was a great assortment of pots, pans, skillets, cooking utensils, and coffee maker. The bathroom had a full-size fiberglass tub with shower and enough hot water. The faucets were not the latest designer style. We had plenty of fluffy towels, shampoo, bar soap, and an anti-skid mat., Our room 103 was roughly 20 feet away from the pool, next to a grass lawn. A sliding glass door provided access to the back patio and lawn area. The patio had a table, umbrella and cushioned chairs. We also had a movable shade/rain canopy (fabric covering was newly installed, not shown in photo) and a grill and fire pit. The landscaping at the KOA is beautiful and perfectly maintained. Some sections consist of manicured gardens with flower beds, flower pots and totally weed-free lawns. Other sections feature native plants such as sage brush. These areas have a wilder more natural appearance. The KOA has some lovely mature trees. The KOA is situated at the foot of a lovely vertical rock bluff called Centennial Bluff. Flood lights illuminate the bluff at night, creating a dramatic effect. The KOA property is quite large and has many acres. Some of the roads are asphalt, some dirt. The KOA property extends across the small highway to the West Walker River. There are some huge cottonwood trees there. Fishing is allowed. The river is stocked with fish. The KOA has a fish cleaning station. The KOA is well located and accessible to several very scenic areas that we wanted to visit. We took a day-trip to see Yosemite National Park. We saw Half Dome, El Capitan and Bridalveil Falls. We saw a lot of lakes and mountains and stopped at several overlooks. We saw antelope and deer. On the way to Yosemite NP we enjoyed tasty breakfast at the Whoa Nellie Deli in Lee Vining, next to Mono Lake and near the entrance to the national park. Locals recommended this restaurant to us. The cafe adjoins the Mobile gas station. On the way back to the KOA we picked up dinner to go. Our Yosemite trip lasted a manageable nine hours. We also explored the forest around the KOA. We drove a bit south to Mill Canyon Road and followed it high into the hills/mountains. The high quality dirt road went through national forest near a wilderness area. We went as far as a ranger station. Part of the forest is recovering from a fire and has new aspen growth. We saw some very clear mountain streams. Before traveling to the KOA we stocked up on food and beverages at the Smiths and Raleys grocery stores in Gardnerville. Gardnerville has a fair number of restaurants and other businesses. Plan on cooking your own meals at the KOA. Do not count on finding a decent restaurant close to the KOA. We used the KOA's 2 washers and 2 dryers. That room had an iron, a TV, and a small library of books. The pool is clean and inviting and offers seating. The recreation room has 2 pieces of exercise equipment, foosball , a dollhouse, puzzles, tables, chairs, a sofa, windows, etc. The large community room can be rented for get-togethers. The KOA sells beer and wine and other items. I noticed 3 tent camping spots. Each had a covered lit work table, and water. The KOA has RV spots with full hookups. They are adequately spaced apart. There is a dog park and a waist-high dog washing tub. The kitchen for room 103 has a door that adjoins the motel room next door. If you have a larger group you can rent both motel rooms. The campground and motel are clean and well-kept. The owners of the KOA are friendly and helpful. My husband and I recommend this KOA. read more

Tim and Scott run a great park. Happened to stop here in May and asked if they had a spot open for July 4th weekend, and they did! Easy to get in and out of the park and the spot, I was in a pull-thru that was nice and level. Pizza was excellent, park was clean except for some pesky ants in the bathroom, which was corrected when I mentioned them. Only drawback compared to numerous KOAs that I've been to is there is no breakfast offering - I know other kampgrounds make it work with limited staff, something the KOA here really needs to look into. I've already booked my next reservation here for August! read more

Wish I could give negative stars!! They are so rude!! We stayed there many times. Did a last minute booking says 6 people per camp site. Unfortunately we didn't know if two of our friends would be able to join us, which would only make 4 at the site. They were able to got there and the owners, proceeded to threaten to call the sherrif on them for trespassing within 5 minutes of parking. We tried to go to office but they wer closed, because they were drinking at the clubhouse with THEIR VISTORS!. This was because we didn't register them when we booked online, not knowing if they could make it. We offered to pay for extra guest, pay for a completely new campground for them, hotel room, they have. Owners said no they are visitors we do not allow any visitors at all, have them leave now or we will call sherriff, not knowing we were.Law enforcement oursleves. You know its a prison apparently not a vaction spot. Rather fighting with them we loaded up the 45 foot trailer and left at 6pm while they flipped us off and made rude comments. The owners went and joined "THEIR VISTORS" kept drinking laughing while we left. Proceed to block us for life. I would rather stay at a bed bug ridden place, then EVER give these two awful human beings my money. I am in talks with KOA corporate offices. These two should NEVER be able to represent KOA brand, nor be in the hospitality business. We happen to go there by mistake on year while they were having their gay pride weekend, guess what, they had VISTORS everywhere not staying there, I spoke with allot of people there that weekend, nope not staying just visiting, guess that was OK. They pride was not the issue that weekend was owners acting like we were a inconvenience being there durning THEIR party! guess as long as you play on their team they are nice otherwise, look out RUDE AWFUL PEOPLE!! read more

What a fabulous RV park. All shiny and sparkling! Incredible never-get-tired-of-the-views sites! We got the super deluxe super premium site and there are only 2 and it did not disappoint. We had such a positive feeling pulling into this place and we were not wrong. Many level gravel RV sites. Super cute tent sites. 2 dog parks. HEATED pool! Beautiful grounds. The usual amenities: laundry, showers etc. EXCELLENT Wifi. Cable TV. We towed with a Class C and we came from California. A tiny mistake was going over 89 to 395. We were lucky that it was empty because at certain spots we were going 20 mph. It's a winding tight road. We won't go that way again. Highly recommend this lovely lovely KOA. Hospitality could improve! My husband and I have been RV traveling for over 30 years and have never been kicked out of an RV park as of last Wednesday. It has been a family tradition to dry camp at Bootleg Camp ground outside of Walker. When a RV Park was opened in Coleville we have always enjoyed stopping for 2 or 3 nights cleaning up with a hot shower, swimming, driving into Gardnerville/Minden celebrating our July's birthdays and coming back to star gaze and relax at Coleville. Unfortunately at Bootleg the reservoir ran out of water. Our water pump broke and had to rough it a little. The camp host was very friendly and apologetic and we made due. We had no service there and were very anxious to get to Meadow Cliff. Upon arrival my husband and brother were greeted by a very unfriendly host who seemed to be annoyed that we were an hour early. He asked us to go back to Walker and wait an hour and then come back. We had to drive through the park to get out due to the length of our RV and noticed that the RV park was mostly empty. There is no place to park there and we were really frustrated that we had to go all the way back to Walker. My brother wrote a very frustrating review and when we returned we were asked to leave. I believe it was Tim that told my husband that they have plenty of business and didn't need ours and to never return. Not a problem Tim. We drove to the Silver City RV park in Minden and were met with great hospitality and were accommodated immediately. These two men could take a lesson in hospitality from those lovely ladies. Nice place, but difficult management. After spending several hours there, the manager said we couldn't sleep in our Accura MDX which we have done for several years, mainly in KOA campgrounds throughout the states. I said ok, just give me a refund. He said no because I lied about my vehicle . On the website, it didn't list an auto as an option, so I checked pickup camper. I didn't intend to deceive anyone, I couldn't complete the reservation without choosing an option. What a wasted $200 for a 3 day stay that I had to leave! Very frustrating situation! read more

First off the staff were very friendly and accommodating. We were shown on a map where all the areas of importance were, showers, pool, dog washing station, dog park etc. The atmosphere is one out of a postcard, so breathtaking and amazing! So after reading some of the recent reviews, I felt it was necessary to leave a review about my recent stay. We are also a Law Enforcement family, but our experience was great because we followed the campground rules. Tim and Scott were both extremely helpful, social, and accommodating. Some of the other reviews said they felt like they were being babysat, but I think Tim and Scott just want to make sure everything is pleasurable for their guest's. I have stayed at this motel several times over the past 15 years, and the campground has never looked better. If you are looking for a quiet and relaxing vacation then this is the place to stay. The Coleville/Walker KOA was a real pleasant surprise. We have driven by on Hwy 395 but never thought much about the place till we needed an RV site in that area. The park was immaculate with different types of accommodations and the huge rock behind the park was incredibly dramatic especially at night with flood lights on it. Accessibility is easy and everything looked new, clean and well planned. There are several places to just sit and enjoy the views with or without a fire pit. The staff was pleasant and helpful, they even make terrific pizza on the weekend!! Well done! This is the nicest KOA we've ever been to! We frequently visit KOA's during our travels and never enjoyed one as much as Meadowcliff! Our site offered a covered patio with a table, plenty of seating, a wood fire pit (wood restocked daily!), gas fire pit and propane grill! The pool was lovely and refreshing, tetherball, horseshoes, etc in a beautiful grassy area. Nice walking trails all around the campground, clean and well stocked store on site, laundry and restrooms clean and plentiful. About an hour from Lake Tahoe but worth the distance to stay at this KOA. The staff takes great care of the property. Offers recycling! It includes 6 people per spot with some kid's electing to sleep in a tent. It includes music, campfires, ghost stories and games. Camp hosts are supposed to facilitate joy and offer solutions instead of challenge and confront while being a nuisance in their annoying non stop ATV patrol....which by the way is louder than the highway road noise and reasonable music level. One of the greatest gifts a human has is self reflection and a good look in the mirror might be in order here. Okay, all I have to say is, you will NEVER find a better KOA, EVER! Notice my caps. Not only are the grounds immaculate, the showers are hot and free, the pool is clear and clean, the dog park is more than a fenced in campsite, but this KOA is LGBTQ+ friendly, which I greatly appreciate. The owners recently purchased the property leading to Walker River, so you have river access too, for fishing and skinny dipping!!! Lol, I'm joking about one of those! The only drawback to this KOA, you are out non the middle of no where! YES, there are about 24 attractions in the area, but you've got to travel 30 miles for the closest market!! Yes, there are mom and pop markets in Walker, BUT they are pricey, they have to be. So if you're planning to camp here, get all your food Shopping done in Bishop, CA or Gardnerville, NV, depending on which direction your coming from, then check in. Would love to give this place a better review. The facilities are nice and well maintained. Most of the staff I spoke with was really helpful and they even loaned me equipment. However on our second night a fire broke out ~2 miles away. Many people left right then. I got up and checked on the fire every hour or so. By morning it had grown from 50 acres to 2000 acres, luckily with not much spread out way. Everyone was leaving and they are not working with us on any refund. Smoke filled the place and ash raining down everywhere, didn't really feel like I had an option to leave or not. Shocked they would not work with us on a refund. Replying to their reply: I left Sunday at 9:45 AM, two days early. I posted the picture as I expected you to minimize the fire threat. Tell that to the many people in California that lost their lives when fires did unexpected things. I based my decision off info given from the fire teams updates, indicating it was "erratic" and they were unable to get the air support they needed, as well as the large amount of smoke and ash. Funny; you say the fire was moving south. You are south of the fire. I spoke to and witnessed myself more than 3 people leaving because of the fire. Really wish you wouldn't post inaccurate information in your reply. If that's not enough, I guess the picture speaks for itself. As you seem to continue to have a complete disregard for safety of your guests, I'm lowering from two stars to one. Last update because I find it funny, taken from their website on the last day of my reserved stay: "Update: Our RV Park, Lodge rooms and office is currently closed due to evacuations for the Slink fire." read more

This place has horrible customer service and more rules than an elementary school. We reserved this place for 5 nights. It was our anniversary. This place started off alright but my room smelled like smoke. We told the management and they blew it off as the first use of the heater. We were concerned because they say they charge a 350 dollar cleaning fee for smoke damage. After that morning, we got a call while away at 1 PM. We had to leave because my brother passed away from a massive heart attack. When I walked in to tell them, the first thing the lovely lady said was, we do not give refunds. She didn't even acknowledge the horrible moment we just had gone through. We only stayed 1 night, wasn't even refunded anything. Charged my credit card at 7:30 Am the day before our arrival date. These people are heartless, greedy and evil in my opinion. Spend your money somewhere else. You're just a number here. read more

I wanted to give this place a higher rating, but ehh. It's very clean and pretty and the maintenance does a great job maintaining. However, the walking trail smelled like urine, the playground was not really geared to young children. It really seems like I'm theory it's a great KOA family campground.. but seems more like they would prefer a retirement community. Plus they closed the pool for the season while temperatures are still in the nineties. As mentioned in previous posts that the owners seemed mean, however everyone we encounter was very polite and nice. Harassment. We arrived late to the KOA and attempted to follow the late night registration. Nowhere does it say that late night registration will result in them threatening to call the cops on us. There wasn't any envelopes. I've had that happen many times to me at state and national parks. Never had I had it result in harassment and threats. I've always had park rangers catch you on the way out or leave an envelope under the windshield wiper. However this is a KOA and a private campground and are allowed to treat customers horribly, which they did. They started banging on our camper at 3 AM woke up my baby. Threatened to cal the cops for trespassing. When I offered to pay for the site they threatened to charge more and more money if I wasn't able to pay cash. I was never given a receipt. I was treated like a criminal. When I called them during their office hours that states that it was common courtesy not to arrive after 9. This RV park is along highway 395 so it seems bizarre not to accommodate travelers. They also woke up the campers next to us at 3 am for a similar infraction but state that aside from me this has "never happened". Save yourself the harassment and threats and a good night sleep and just drive past Coleville KOA. read more

We have never been treated so rudely as at the Walker Coleville KOA RV Park. We arrived 1 3/4 hour early from check in time. The manager(?) came out to meet us with a very aggressive attitude. He informed us we were early early and he could not accommodate us with checking in early or parking by the office until check-in time. The manager suggested we go back down the road a few miles and sit by the roadside. I explained it was hot and we would need to just sit in our truck with our dog and the AC on. His reasoning was that there were only two staff. Sadly, there were only 3 or 4 RV's in the park and zero activity. We had pre-paid and he wouldn't give a refund. Since we were only 2 hrs from our destination we elected to continue on. This was the last day of a three week trip and we'd received nothing but wonderful hospitality at at every RV resort until this one. We stayed there a year ago and were wonderfully received. We will never go there again and do not recommend this KOA to anyone with current management. I will be contacting KOA corporate mgt regarding this park as most poorly representing their organization. read more

THEY MAY CANCEL YOUR STAY!!! I'm writing this review to warn you and hopefully save you the trouble that I dealt with. I booked my stay 3 weeks ago. My fiancee and I were traveling home from Burning Man. I called the day before to see how late I could arrive due to the expected traffic as I traveled home. The man who answered the phone asked if I was coming from burning man and when I replied "yes", he told me he was canceling my stay because they did not want us to track any dust into the park. Mind you, I was driving 200 miles at 60+ MPH before getting there. All the loose dust is long gone before I arrive. When I tried to reason with him, he wasn't having it. He was heartless about the stress he caused. I booked this weeks ago, it was obviously on the day everyone leaves from Burning Man so he could have easily called shortly after booking to inquire where I was diving from. That would be the decent thing to do and I would have happily gone elsewhere rather than deal with the stress of finding a new place on Labor Day to stay. But this management is not decent or polite about it. Avoid them at all costs. BOTTOM LINE: They don't care about you. Go to Topaz Lake RV park. 1/2 the price, full hookups, and they were all so nice to engage with! Great food at their diner, a casino if you're into that, and a lake view from the RV parking, and they were happy to welcome all people, including those coming from Burning Man and everyone asked how our trip was. read more

Very clean and neat campground but the owner/ camp hosts and employees suck! You are treated as a 3 year old and followed around at every turn to make sure every rule is followed to the T. We were a huge group of mostly law enforcement and had a birthday party for one of the kids and they chose to walk right thru the middle of the party to make sure the kids ate their cake right I guess. We had one couple that had to come out in two vehicles and you would have thought it was the end of the world!!! I would recommend if you don't mind being treated like a 3 year old!!! read more

Our stay at COLEVILLE / WALKER KOA was wonderful. We have stayed at other KOA campgrounds throughout the country and this one exceeded our expectations on many levels. The entrance signs are very visible along with all the other signs for parking at check-in and throughout the park. Walking into the office I was greeted by a friendly smile and all the details for checking in to our RV site. They made it easy to navigate to our site and made sure we were good with setting up. Walking throughout the park we were thoroughly impressed with the level of detail taken from the superior clean conditions, plenty of signs, meticulously maintained gravel for your RV, level sites, just the right number of lights at night and the list goes on and on. We felt very safe and comfortable during our stay. The owners take pride of all aspects to ensuring the park is at peak performance. We stayed 6 nights and just in that short amount of time they made several improvements for the safety of the guests thus making an even more enjoyable stay. The K9 park is ideal for letting your pup run around and burn some energy off. The cliffs are beautifully lit up at night. Everyone working there was friendly and helpful. There were ample communications prior to check in and during our stay. We are looking forward to staying here again!! read more
