I preface this review by saying 3 stars reflects issues that may not be important to some but were important to me. This motel is in amazing shape, the people were very nice, the beds and pillows really comfortable. The shower didn't have that screwy shower curtain but a door which is really nice. I WOULD STAY HERE AGAIN. I found the price reasonable. Totally cool fridges in the rooms with freezers. That out of the way, I found issues with the following: Wifi: For me, this is a big issue. I was traveling with my 15 year old son so his entire life, as is mine for work, is online. I understand that they have made a lot of changes and loads of improvements but the most important improvements you can make are those that the customer is most likely to touch the most. For instance, the towels.. Super nice and embroidered with "Woodfords Inn" on them and not cheap, crappy towels either. Great touch. I wish the same attention had been given to the wifi. I was in room #6, at best the wifi was extremely spotty to non-existent. Pro tip: the wifi works best the closer the room is to the office. TV: the tv ran off the internet so yeah... Dish is on the way but due to covid19, delayed. This goes back to the wifi issue. If you have great wifi, do you need dish? There may be an issue with great wifi but I know the Creekside Lodge in Markleeville does not have a wifi issue in my experience. It's in a more remote area. Pocket door: There is a pocket door between the living area and the bathroom. The one in room #6 when we stayed here did not close and I was told it was not functional on purpose. For a single person in the room, or any room, not an issue but for two, this is an issue. My son was exposed to an odoriferous experience he could've done without. Yes, of course, he could've left the room but should he have had to? So that's it. I want to emphasize, the issues I have may not be shared by everyone and, as I said, I would definitely stay here again. If they improve these issues, I can't imagine staying elsewhere when in the area.

Beds are nicely made! Complimentary chips and water too!!

Beautiful Inn located on the outskirts of Markleeville and a perfect Basecamp for Tahoe! Definitely enjoyed my stay and will return. I highly recommend starting here it is a hidden gem!! New owners have completely revamped the place I'd give more if I could! Highly recommended! Ask for Alex!

    Bug bites

If there is negative star, I would give them negative. Service is poor. Wi-Fi spotty, worst of all, bedbugs!!!! I walked away with 6 bug bites: 4 on my right arm, swollen to plum size, red , inflamed and itchy like hell; one on my left hand, one on my forehead. The bugs must be voracious!

The towels smelled like a good detergent or fabric softener, had an at home smell to them. The bed was very comfortable, and clean. There was a good sized t.v in the room and a chair, coat rack and the heat worked well. There was also a mini fridge. The only thing it didn't have was a microwave. Maybe some rooms have microwaves, but mine didn't. Other that that is was a perfect room. I' stay here again for the cleanliness, hospitality and the close proximity to the town. The Cut throat Tavern is literally next door. The general store is across the street. There is also a beautiful creek right behind the lodge, I could hear it from my room.

It's not uncommon for him to be shortstaffed and besides booking, check-ins and the warm welcomes I'll see him running by (literally) with arm loads of sheets and towels preparing rooms for new guests, doing laundry, watering plants and sweeping walkways! He also can tell you where the fish are biting and the most up to date local gossips. Jut returned Monday June 8, 2026 from a restfull stay and will be returning soon for my annual Grover Family Reunion. Thanks again Todd, sending our Love, Steve and MaryAnn

The house was clean and had plenty of amenities including a full kitchen, full-size washer and dryer, and two full bathrooms. It has plenty of closet space to store your belongings and a giant pantry for food storage. I wish it had a dishwasher to make it easier to clean the dishes, but we made it work with 8 of us to pitch in with cooking and cleaning. It would also be nice to have fans in the bathroom to help with ventilation. There is a nice Dyson hair dryer in the bathroom, but I couldn't use it. I plugged it in and it wouldn't turn on. I brought my own dryer and it didn't work either so I think it has to do with the electrical outlets. I tried multiple outlets and neither dryers worked. Aside from these things, the house is absolutely beautiful and perfect. There's a beautiful back patio area with a grill, fire pit, plenty of seating, and a dining table to dine al fresco. The front area is also stunning. The house is a hop, skip, and a jump away from the river. There's a couple picnic tables right by the river that you can sit and enjoy your coffee, read a book, and take in the stunning scenery. We loved our time at the Hope Valley House! We made great memories here as a group. It's about 30 minutes away from the city, but we rented a car so we could get around pretty easily and that worked well for us. We enjoyed the privacy and serenity we had at Hope Valley House. I would definitely recommend staying here!

Unfortunately, our experience with the reservation process was very disappointing. When we called to move our reservation dates by only a couple of days, we were not informed that the price would be doubled. We only discovered the significant increase after looking at the updated confirmation email a week before our planned visit. We reached out to management to explain the situation and asked if there was any flexibility, since we were not made aware of the price change before the reservation was modified. While we appreciated the offer to move our stay to weekdays, that was no longer possible due to work obligations. We then asked if there was any possibility of meeting somewhere in the middle on the cost, but we never received a response back. After looking forward to this trip for months, we ultimately decided to cancel due to the lack of communication and inability to find a reasonable solution. The property may be beautiful, but our experience with customer service did not meet the expectations for a stay at this price point.

So this review had to wait until I could know I wasn't going back very soon. I stayed here for roughly about 3 months straight. It's a nice little family owned motel. It's definitely not the weekly motel vibe that you might get on 4th street in Reno. But a "small town" motel vibe that you might have gotten back in the heyday of motels in new interstates before freeways. There is nothing fancy about Main Street Inn, but if you are in Yerington for more than a potty break, you probably should already understand that there is nothing really fancy about Yerington. This is a town of friendly real people. Not fake city people that plaster on that smile because of some creepy corporate guideline. The town is probably the most welcoming town in all of rural Nevada for me. The office is populated by a bunch of locals filling in the hours. So there may be small spot of time you wont have anyone at the front desk. This is really a mom and pop business. The room I was in for most of my time in town was just right for my needs. Each room has it's own character it seems. Mine had lots of drawers to keep stuff in as well. All of the staff, including the owner was always pleasant and as helpful as possible when I interacted with them. If I could get this good of service at the high end hotels I stay at on vacation, I might never come home! The only real negatives that I can think of are that they don't have great parking for larger vehicles. So that might be a consideration if you have a large vehicle it could be a tiny walk from where you have to park your car. All of the businesses are within walking distance of the Inn as well. I highly recommend Dini's Coffee Shop.
