The Caramel corn is delicious- it tastes fresh. Sometimes you get Caramel corn at other places and it tastes a little burnt-ish but here it tastes great. This is one of those little treasures in DG that you can't walk past that great smell. I also get the Chicago mix and love it. read more

I wanted some popcorn from here for movie night at the house. Usually, I just get popcorn from the theatre and bring it home but they are all closed due to COVID. I walk in and it is an hour before they close. Ordered some buttered popcorn. The employee working here went into a large canister, scooped up my medium popcorn out of a canister, and gave it to me. I looked around the place and there was no fresh popcorn in ANY of the popcorn makers. Needless to say, the popcorn given to me was not fresh, not hot, no fresh butter applied to it and tasted old. So I ask: How long has the popcorn been in the canister? How long is it kept in the canister? Do you EVER pop any fresh popcorn? My miracle occurred over this past weekend: movie theaters are back opened this Friday!!! I can't wait because this place gave me popcorn out of a canister... I'm very disappointed. As soon as i took a bite when my husband left the store (I was waiting outside) i took a piece of popcorn and it was STALE! I used to love it when my husband would come home with a fresh bag of popcorn. It makes me think they're reusing days old popcorn. Very stale, I hope the employee that sold me this knows that they are selling crap! They have downgraded by too much. read more

Wells Street Popcorn is pretty good. I ordered a medium size Chicago style popcorn. Their prices are affordable and the medium size bag was larger than I expected for about $7! Chicago Style Popcorn- The caramel was great; the cheese popcorn flavor was good but it was very stale. I will try again and I hope the popcorn will be fresh! read more

Found this company on Groupon so decided to drop in while I was in the area. I got three tubs of popcorn. I really enjoyed the Chicago mix! It was very tasty and not too greasy! The kettle corn was also tasty as well. The popcorn tasted fresh and was packaged nicely. The staff was friendly and the store was right downtown near a bunch of restaurants. read more

I bought Group-On coupons. Twice in the last I stopped by and lost the Internet connection in the Well Brothers store in Downers Grove. The clerks don't have the password to access the stores WiFi! The won't sell the popcorn with out the coupon. Tonight the clerk called his boss and it went to call waiting. I recommend not patronizing this store! read more

I used to beg my husband to pick up a bag of Chicago Mix popcorn before making the commute back home to the 'burbs in the evening. There's a craving that I thought only a bag of Chicago Mix could satisfy. Then one wonderful day I "discovered" Wells Street Popcorn in downtown Downers Grove. I've been by it a million times and have even gone into the store with friends, but being a creature of habit it never registered in my feeble brain to give it a try. How stupid was I?! Wells Street Popcorn caramel and cheddar mix is fresh and crave-worthy. As good as, perhaps even better than, its more famous competitor? *munch* *munch* *munch* Let me try *munch* a few more bags of it and I'll *munch* let you know. They're not Garrett's (thank goodness) but do offer the same variety and quality at much more reasonable prices. Nice people. No long lines of out-of-town tourists. Fair prices. Delicious popcorn. read more

Just went to Wells Street Popcorn for the first time and had no idea they were there! It was on a friday night and the place was hopping! There was such a relaxed eased feeling inside and out. The workers all seemed happy and energetic and eager to help. It was sort of confusing to find where the line ended but we can't hold that against them! The popcorn was fantastic! Being the newbie I had to try every flavor! The caramel and kettle was light and airy and the cheese, oh the cheese! Best cheese popcorn I've ever had! Much better than Garrett's. Way less greasy! With Downtown Downers being so easy to get in and out of you can bet that you've got yourself a new regular! Keep up the good work and the fantastic popcorn!! Holy hell, gourmet popcorn in the burbs. A few years ago I turned the BF onto garretts popcorn but since its only in the city and finding a location, not Navy Pier, after dinner is a pain in the butt. So I have been on the hunt for kick ass popcorn in the burbs. I had found one spot in the northern burbs, in Deer Park mall, but due to a horrid location, it closed down. Over the summer I came across Wells during a summer festival. We went in and sampled some of the goodies, We were hooked. Caramel corn all the way. Its a light, buttery caramel thats not a sugary overload. We usually get a medium bag and if I remember correctly, it will run you under six bucks. We have learned to take it out of the bag when we get home and put it in an air tight container so it lasts longer, if it makes it through the night. Oh and if you come in at the right time, you can catch them while its cooking. The smell will blow you away. read more

I was in Downer's grove last week running an errand and I was excited to discover the same popcorn shop that I go to Oak Park, I didn't know there were other stores. I guess this one just opened up a few months ago. The owner was there and I talked to him, he was really friendly and extremely helpful, he said it's a family business, not a chain, and they own 3 stores now, one in OP, one in Downer's and one on the North side of Chicago. I didn't have my tin with me, so I just got a small cheese popcorn. The owner told me that the popcorn had a limited time to stay fresh, since it was a hot day. He said that on 90 degree days, popcorn has the life expectancy of ice cream, which I did not know. I appreciated that he took the time out to inform me of that. read more

I was surprised to find this place while visiting relatives in Westmont. I had a bag of cheese popcorn that was absolutely fresh, delicious and every bit as good as Garrett's. The service was excellent. I will be visiting my relatives perhaps more often. :-) read more

Wouldn't frequent this establishment if you paid me to do so- walked past the chubby brown haired girl (standing outside currently) carrying a big tub of samples TWICE, she did not acknowledge my existence, did offer me any- made a big point of offering it to the Caucasian folks walking by too on sidewalk though! ---May be a good idea to let your personnel know to not put on display so clearly their racial prejudices.
