I was greeted right away, accommodated as a walk-in, and genuinely felt taken care of from start to finish. The salon is cute, spacious, and beautifully decorated with tons of color options. The gentleman at the front even helped start my powder removal while I waited for my technician, which I really appreciated. I also loved the thoughtful touches -- the little silicone stylus so you can use your phone while your nails are soaking, the iPhone stand, and the lotion/scrub treatment at the end because my hands were so dry. My technician was patient, checked in with me throughout, and made sure the color and finish were exactly what I wanted. Two weeks later, my nails are still holding up beautifully, and I especially appreciate that the powder isn't thick -- it looks like my real nails. I went to wellshow on broadway before and loved it so much. The girls there told me that Steinway is the one I can only go to for any designs. I made an appointment to Steinway for the first time. I wanted a regular pedicure and a manicure and showed them what I wanted. Chrome French nails. The lady told me that it'll cost $45 and only can be done with gel. I asked why can't I do SNS and have them draw on top? She said no, only gel manicure. I said fine. I did my pedicure first which was good. They used hot stones on you feet and they were very clean. All tools and equipment were brand new which I really appreciate. While this was happening, the girl helped me wrap up so remove my current SNS set on my hands. I love that they put an extra plastic glove on top of the foil + cotton with acetone. Time for manicure. They removed my SNS and I commented that my nails feel really thin and weak. I should've changed my mind then and there to another SNS set so my nails will be more strong. The girl who did my nails were thorough and did a great job with just 2 coats of gel polish, cleaned my cuticles, and shape: it very nice. Polly came in and stated that she's here to do my design. I said okay and showed her my picture for reference. She did the French with black gel polish and showed me 1 finger and said okay? I said okay and placed my hand in the UV light. After she did all the black French, she started rubbing on the silver chrome powder. It looked really cool at first. After finishing the full manicure, she had to walk away while I was doing my last round under the UV light because there was. A big party that was coming in. She went to tend them instead. I examined my nails and saw some things that I didn't like. I brought it up to her attention but she said that I should've paid attention to my nails instead of looking over at my friends set. I see little bumps and dents.. how is this my fault? Also, the French wasn't even... she then says ok, if you want me to redo it, I would need to remove it all. I felt awkward and just wanted to leave because why is she making it seem like it's all my fault? I just paid and walked out because I felt like she just wanted to sleep care of the new party that came in. Also, the bill came out. I saw that I had to pay for a gel mani + $45 for strictly Design. I got a gel manicure. It cost around $43 because I Paid with credit card and they charge an extra transaction fee for using the credit card. The salon changed locations to 33-16 Broadway. I haven't been to the original location but this new one looks really clean organized and modern. My nail technician, Xiao, did a really good job. She was very thorough on cleaning up my cuticle area and took her time. She painted really well and barely had any flooding on my cuticles and outside of my nail bed. I am definitely going back and hopefully I'll be able to get her as my technician again. read more

Walked home limping after going to the Steinway location. :( I went in for a pedicure and I had an obvious cut on my toe. They applied callus treatment to the cut part of toe and it had me choking back tears. Once I went to put my shoes on, I noticed a huge boil that had formed on the toe that they put the treatment on. The other lady who did my finger nails didn't start for a while because she was catching up with co-workers which didn't bother me initially but when she did start doing my nails, she rushed so intensely and was really impatient when motioning me to alternate hands/felt like she was jerking my hands around harshly. She rushed me so intensely that I didn't get to actually look at my nails until they were done and they turned out pretty sloppy (crooked nails, bubbles, cuticles looked untouched). I'm really sad because I don't spend money on my nails often and I could have definitely gone somewhere else to be treated more nicely and gotten nicer results :( felt like they were just trying to get me out the door. read more

I called for a gel pedicure & when I went they took me right away. I was greeted and Oscar took me. I told them how I broke my nail and I want acrylic. They didn't have acrylic but did have Gel X & I was very happy to hear that because Gel X is so awesome & not a lot of salons have it. I actually really appreciated how Oscar did his best to shape my broken nail so I could avoid having to do gel x but I am a perfectionist & wanted the gel x lol. I'm super picky but Oscar did an excellent job, I ended up getting a spa pedicure with an extra 10 min massage and also added a 30 min back massage. My experience was great from start to finish. I fell asleep multiple times even though there was a crying baby, that's how you know I was relaxed. Their salon is so cute & sleek, def gives off the perfect relaxing spa vibes. I am so picky with shaping, cuticle removal, and polish -- Xiao managed to do all three literally perfectly! Thank you! This is by far the cleanest nail salon you will find in Astoria. They have proper sinks outside of the bathrooms so you can wash your hands before starting your nail session. Everyone is wearing a mask. I am a loyal customer of the Broadway location, and wanted to get my nails done there yesterday, but they weren't answering the phone, so my solution was to go to the Steinway location for the first time. I arrived and while I was waiting to be called to go get my pedicure, I was choosing the colors I wanted for my nails. It was a very difficult task because the nail polish wall was very disorganized. It was not organized by the different colors and tones like they do in the Broadway location, which makes it easy to choose and makes the salon look better. I was called to the pedi chair and the girl who was going to attend me was Xiao. She was very fast with her service, too fast for my liking. I knew I was paying for a regular pedicure, not a spa one, but she did all the cleaning, scrubbing, exfoliation, and massage in less than 10 minutes! She was very rough and quick that I was scared when she was cutting my cuticles because I thought she might cut me. She didn't speak to me, didn't ask if the water was at a good temperature (I had to tell her it was too hot), she didn't offer me the callus remover, nothing! At the Broadway location, even when I pay for the regular pedicure, they take their time, thoroughly rub and massage, pay attention to detail... I do feel like I'm being taken care of over there. We moved on to the manicure and it was the same! She was too rough and fast that I was scared again that she might cut me. This time I did have to tell her to slow down and be careful. I even had to fix myself the shape of one nail that she filed because it was not proportional to the others. I know they rotate the girls between the two locations. I saw familiar faces from the Broadway location. I recognized Lily, she attended my boyfriend and was very attentive and detailed with him as she had done before. The girl who helped me had never attended me before and I did not like her work. I'm posting pictures of how I wanted my nails to be and how they turned out. I wanted to give this place five stars. I truly did. They are following COVID guidelines, the space is bright and welcoming, and my manicure turned out really nice. I was told that they guarantee their work, which is also a nice plus and likely why you get two layers of top coat gel. The problem is that when I got home and into the shower last night, there was nail polish all over the skin of my feet. I get that I went from a dark color to a light color, but leaving polish on a client's skin, for what they charge is unacceptable. Especially when there are copious amounts of polish remover and cotton balls readily available. I don't know if the young lady was in training or just sloppy, but I ended up having to fix her work myself at home. I'm just glad I had no plans to wear open shoes before my nails need to be redone. My mom and I made an appointment last minute here and were able to come in to get gel manicures. My sister recommended this place to us because she gets her nails done here. I was very nervous trying out a new salon because I am pretty picky about my nails. I was also nervous because my mom has worked at a nail salon for over 20 years and it was her first time ever getting a gel manicure at a salon. The salon is VERY beautiful and spacious- and the staff are following covid regulations very well. The manicurist who worked on my nails (idk her name) was not very good or careful. She made 2 of my nail beds bleed all day and they were stinging like crazy all day. I didn't even complain about that, until I saw how she painted my nails. They were a MESS! Every finger was bumpy and had huge bubbles stuck under them. The worst part is, she didn't try to fix it and just was going to let me leave with those nails! She kept sighing and looking mad at me- which is terrible customer service. My sister also went to the salon the next day and had the same manicurist. She did the same thing to her one nail- where it was very bumpy and had spots all over. She did not paint them well and my sister also had to ask her to redo them. The owner is friendly and extremely sweet. She will make sure you leave happy. She took the time to fix all my nails and made them look perfect. The owner also let me know there is a 7 day guarantee for gel manicures, which is great! The manicurist who did my mom's nails (Zora?) took her time and also did an excellent job! She even gave my mom a sweet gift of hand oil! I appreciate the customer service from them very much. I am giving this salon 5 stars because of them! Had such a frustrating experience at this nail salon! Came in to get dip powder removed, and a new dip powder manicure with my friend who was getting the same. To take the dip powder off, they didn't file the top coat, just put the acetone and foil on - left mine on for nearly 40 minutes and it got to the point my fingers were BURNING from having it on so long. My friend needed to have hers on for over 60 minutes! After they saw I took it off, someone came over to grind what we left with the machine and kept nicking my cuticles. Finally time to file my nails, and they aren't an even shape - one is a totally different shape than the rest. After taking a ridiculous amount of time filing, finally doing the dip, to then file down again - again was kicking my cuticle and hurting me! I've never had a manicure hurt before. After they did the top coat, I was sitting there for like 15 minutes and I wanted to just leave already and said someone had to wash my hands. All and all my whole experience took 90 full minutes which is absurd, and it took my friend over TWO HOURS - which she has to go back to get hers fixed anyway since the top coat didn't set properly for whatever reason. Needless to say, this was overpriced, a frustrating experience, and took WAY too long - will never be going back. read more

I came to wellshow by appointment for a gel mani and regular pedicure. I will say that the space is clean and quaint with nice lighting and fixtures. The music is all over the place and doesn't really give spa feels but they played one Lofi hip hop song which felt more like the vibe. (Perhaps a more curated playlist(s) will make a difference in terms of the ambiance. The pedicure area is nice with lux plush seating, ports to charge your phone and a slight sheer curtain that gives some space between you and the other customers. I did not have the most positive pedicure experience as the technician went a bit deep with the cuticle remover. I expressed my discontent as i noticed my toe becoming red and uncomfortable to the touch. The pedicure dried and looked a bit too thick for my liking. Perhaps i would return with a different nail tech but honestly i don't see it worth the price. However, i will say that Winnie did my gel manicure after referencing a photo of nail art that i provided and she did an excellent job at recreating. I have to start by saying that the ladies here are nice and more on the warm & welcoming side than other salons I've been to. It's a chic salon with super cute decor and I was particularly excited to go to them for designs. Long story short, they are extremely overpriced. Coming from someone who dishes out on nails and typically gets tips, gel, designs, jewels, you name it - this was ridiculous. I will include a picture so you can see for yourself. The nails pictured are mine - I didn't get any tips except for one nail that I asked them to put a tip on to make the same size as all the others. This is a clear gel coat with a geometric style design - they are línes y'all. For this I was charged $82******** It's our responsibility as customers to ask for prices before hand but if you are going to offer services that are so overpriced I think it should be a duty to mention. I would have paid this gladly if I felt the product matched the price but, com on.. Won't be going back. Take me to the hood spots or holes in the walls that have less glamour but reasonable priced and good work. I'm not here to pay for your rent on Steinway. read more
