Weng's Kitchen markets itself as Chinese-Filipino fusion, in a food truck, but the experience was hit or miss. The pancit was decent and the chicken skewers were flavorful, but the orange chicken was a letdown--soggy, overly sauced, far too sweet, and buried in heavy breading. Expect a 10-20 minute wait for your order. The standout item by far was the crab rangoon lumpia, which was crispy, creamy, and worth coming back for. On the plus side, they do offer a small discount if you pay in cash, but overall the food was inconsistent.

I want to start my recommendation by saying I'm really sorry I have to do this review, but I have to be honest. I spent 53 dollars yesterday on my phone for 2 mediocre food trays and an order of beef lumpia. I ordered one combo with pancit add chicken with chicken skewers, and one with orange chicken and shrimp pancit. The orange chicken tasted like pre-made frozen chicken , the chicken skewers were flavorless, and the pancit was bland. The only thing that tasted decent was the lumpia with the sauce. I'm so disappointed!! The service was okay but not really anything out of the norm.

We checked this spot out yesterday at the Farmer's Market and YUM!! Chicken lumpia is so delicious tots were fried to perfection, orange chicken was so flavorful, and the chicken on a stick was juicy! The pansit was a bit over seasoned in my opinion. Definitely worth a try, can't wait to come back to try some more stuff Service was awesome with great communication. We were able to place our order and take a lap around the market. When we came back our food was coming up. They were so friendly!

Filipino cuisine meets Chinese takeout at Weng's Kitchen! They were parked right at the entrance of Cova Brewing in East Beach and I got a friendly greeting. They were patient with me, which is important since it was my first time trying. It was hard to decide! Everything sounded good. I knew what I came for but there was more for me to stay lol I got the combo plate that came with a hefty side and two entrees. My plate had pancit, chicken skewers, and orange chicken. The moment I opened up the tray, everything was steaming. Fresh and delicious. I'm picky with my pancit, but the sauces blended well with the textures and boy were those chicken skewers JUICY lol. I also got the special, lumpia tots. Combined together are chicken lumpia bites and taters, topped with cheddar and sweet chili sauce. She was cute. Definitely something you'd wanna share if you decide to try with friends, family, colleagues, whomever (same vibe as Bay Local Ta-chos or Alkaline's Tater Tot Okonomiyaki #iykyk) Finally, my favorite, and the reason why I wanted to try this food truck in the first place: crab Rangoon lumpia. If there's anything I'm definitely going back for, it's a good ol crab Rangoon deep fried in a lumpia wrapper. WHEW They're at Cova Brewing today, but they set up all over the 757. Keep up with their pages for schedule updates so you can catch them too!

This food truck travels between Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, and Suffolk VA. It is a combination between Filipino and Chinese food. They have lumpia, pancit, chicken skewers, fried rice, orange chicken, crab Rangoon lumpia and a few other side items. We ordered two combo platters with almost everything listed, as well as the crab Rangoon lumpia. I would have listed as a 5 star but the orange chicken was a little disappointing. The sauce was decent but the chicken tasted like they were just chicken nuggets from McDonald's or some other fast food place. My husband and I really liked the lumpia and the skewers and the rice and pancit were good also. Another thing is that drinks are not included with the combo platters. It was quick service and the person taking our order was nice. The prices are a little high but I think that is expected with most food trucks.

Had the chicken skewers with veggies pancit. The chicken was made fresh and was still hot when I received my order. The chicken was flavored well. The pancit was also very tasty and not soggy. Glad I finally tried them out.

You should definitely try this food truck. I've had fried rice, the skewers, traditional chicken lumpia, Lumpia tots and the crab Rangoon lumpia's with their sauce. I don't have pictures of everything I've tried but it's pretty good. I've visited whenever they were parked in close proximity to me. Keep in mind it's a take on Filipino and Chinese cuisine.

Pancit lumpia Party tray!‍ So good!

It was some of the most delicious, authentic, and genuinely fresh food I've had in a long time. My work bestie is Filipino and she was the one who ordered it, and she gave it a glowing endorsement before we even opened the containers -- and she was absolutely right. This wasn't "good for catering" food. This was just flat-out excellent food. They packed the trays to the brim, no skimping, no empty corners, just generous portions across the board. The flavors were bold, balanced, and clearly made with care. Everything tasted homemade in the best way, like someone's auntie was in the back kitchen making sure it was done right. The meats were tender, the sides were flavorful, and nothing was dried out or bland. Even people who had never had Filipino food before were going back for seconds. They also gave us plenty of condiments without us even having to ask, which sounds small but makes a big difference. No scrambling, no rationing, no awkward "do we have enough sauce?" moments. They thought ahead and it showed. If you're in Suffolk and even remotely considering Kusina, do it. Whether you're Filipino and missing home flavors or completely new to the cuisine, this place delivers quality, authenticity, and generosity. It's now permanently on my "order again" list and I will absolutely be recommending it every chance I get.

Upon entering it's kind of a small place that doesn't have a lot of fan fare. I'm cool with that. We picked our seats and a super friendly lady sat us down. She was very pleasant and is super customer focused. We ordered an array of appetizers and two meals. Now... I gotta admit... while she was nice, after she left, it all kinda went downhill from there. The chicken was pretty good, but beyond that, the meals weren't that fancy. The spam appetizer is quite simple. Honestly, we were a little disappointed. Then the server after the lady was barely present. We left and were glad that we tried it, but with all the amazing options in the area, this probably won't be our first go-to. Though a lot of people come in from the naval base and the surrounding area, it's not a super busy spot. This place is very hole-in-the-wall and straightforward. They serve both authentic Filipino food and Poke. People come in for both! This place offers a "turo-turo" experience, like what you would do at places like Panda Express, Moe's, Chipotle, where the entree items/Poke ingredients are already laid out for you and you just have to point ("turo" in Tagalog) at what you want on your plate. Even if you don't know the name of the dish, the staff is very helpful. The nice thing is you don't have to wait for your food to cook! I don't know if this place keeps the same menu everyday, but usually in places like these, the menu changes, so what was offered the day you visited might be different from the next! :) They also offer a unique variety of asian brand drinks on their fridge that you can just grab and pay for on the counter. Overall, our meal + drinks were a cheap price! Everyone in there was incredibly friendly. And the food was good! We had the adobo and the longganisa and it was delicious. But like most Filipino dishes, what is a hit for me might be a miss for some. Filipino food highly varies in flavor based on who cooks it since most households have their own flare and twist on cooking certain dishes. This is one of those things where you just have to go in and try it for yourself and see if you like how they make it! I personally enjoyed the meal and would love to come back to try their Poke! The space itself is very small. Not a lot of seating inside. So more of a to-go joint than a sit-down spot. It also shares the same strip with other businesses, so not a lot of parking either. But if you're looking for a quick lunch on the go, I highly recommend this spot.
