Still ordering from this place after 4-5years! Definitely my family's go to Chinese Takeout restaurant. We usually order the lunch specials but occasionally we will get the dinner portions. I do like that the dinner specials come with the fried rice AND an egg roll. It's a good size, nice and crispy! They have typically Chinese food condiments (soy sauce packets, duck sauce, chopsticks) on a table to the side of the front pickup area and a few chairs for you to sit in if you have to wait. My family's favorite dishes are the sesame chicken and chicken with spicy garlic sauce. You also can't go wrong with wonton soup. The food is always packaged nicely and filled to the top! read more

Finally found out GO TO chinese spot! After living in Chesapeake for almost 3 yrs lol. Everything was still hot when delivered. The portion sizes were large. Meat was cooked well & great sizes. Good size chicken wings with full of flavor. Absolutely loved my sesame chicken. Fried rice was little plain for my liking but with the sauce from the chicken it was perfect. The steamed dumplings had lots of meat wish they came with a dipping sauce but we made our own at home. First time having wonton egg drop soup & it did not disappoint. Overall everything was a 10! My new go-to Chinese takeout. I've been really disappointed in the quality of Chinese takeout recently. It shouldn't be hard, but it just seems like place after place has bottom tier food prepared with bottom tier effort. I had seen some positive buzz on this place, so I wanted to give it a chance. I ordered General Tso's chicken (sorry I'm a walking stereotype) with fried rice and garlic wings. Usually I'd go white rice with Gen Tso. But something in the reviews I read here made me want to try the fried rice. I'm glad I did because it was the star. It was obviously refresh made. Had a nice wok hei (smoky flavor). Chunks of pork that weren't just flavorless after thought. Were actual chunks that tasted like pork. General Tso was a good flavor. A little more saucy than I prefer, but I'm sure that could be adjusted at request. It needed a little more crisp, but I still really enjoyed it. Paired with the fried rice it was a phenomenal combo. The garlic wings I pictured being dry, but they were wet. My mistake. The sauce had a good flavor. The garlic actually came through, which isn't always the case. They had a good flavor to them, but lacked for any crisp. I didn't hate the dish, but probably won't order it again. Overall I'm very happy with the meal and look forward to testing out some of my other stand-bys. Based on the fried rice I really look forward to trying the lo mein. read more

Stopped here on the way from OBX to MD. Tried the house fried rice after reading a previous review. It was okay but kinda bland. The shrimp were very small and over cooked. I added soy sauce and hot sauce and it was a little better. I also tried the fried chicken wings. They were bland as well. I definitely have had better and tastier Chinese. Very good food at reasonable prices. Also, the staff and owner are very friendly. I've been to establishments where the Chinese food is very greasy but not this place. The food is cooked just right and they are very accommodating. My wife and I usually order the Triple Delight which is a big enough portion for both of us. Best Chinese in hickory! We moved out here from vb and started trying every Chinese takeout place around our house and this was the best out of the 5 we tried! My husband loves bourbon chicken and not only is GD the only one that offers true bourbon chicken but it's really good. We've tried garlic chicken & shrimp, chicken and pork lo mein, bourbon chicken, honey chicken, shrimp w broccoli. All really good.
