I count these incredible Thursdays among my favorite things about living in Manhattan. Along the gallery walk Metro is usually our first stop as it's conveniently snuggled in central gallery zone...plus they usually have pretty heavy names hanging on their walls. Last night we checked out the André Butzer exhibition "Nicht fürchten! Dont be scared!" which were a series of bright and colorful, textured abstracts. The art was beautiful and people even more so; truly the perfect start to our cultured journey.

By the time an artist is showing here they've already made it in the world of contemporary art. Speaking of, Cindy Sherman fans take note: an exhibition of her new work is on display at Metro Pictures until the 23rd of December 2008. The results are stunning and should not be missed. These highly detailed and manipulated portraits are eerily fascinating. Knowing that she is not only the photographer but also the artist, stylist and model in front of the camera makes these images that much more compelling.

Lots of dead white people who were cooler than I could ever be decades before I was born, made even cooler by the cooling touch of black and white. The lady on staff was very helpful and enthusiastic. The gallery also keeps coffee table books on hand that correspond roughly to works on display - cheat sheets for the masses (i.e. me).

It turned out, that an acquaintance of mine Bryant had his wonderful paintings displayed in her gallery. (please see his art in the attachments). It was the first time ever viewing his paintings. They were marvelous! The shop has a wide range of prices. Bridge Art Gallery appears to be a pop up gallery. The main locations are in Jersey City, NJ and Wilmington, DE.

I'm a super fan of Basquiats work so I was head over hills when I heard this exhibition was coming to Chelsea. I had tickets for 1pm and the line was wrapped around the block. They have skip the line tickets but I don't think it's worth the price unless you're in a rush. The line moved quickly and they honored my 1pm ticket time. The exhibition and works of art was curated wonderfully allowing one to delve deep into the life of Basquiat even giving us a glimpse into his art studio, the apartment where he grew up, and countless audio visuals of his family speaking about how legendary he was and continues to be. The only con I had was the souvenir shop which was a bit under stocked, a tad corny, & very expensive. I live for souvenirs & couldn't wait to add to my already existing Basquiat collection but I wasn't impressed. The t-shirt I did want was $75 and living in the times of inflation, I couldn't bring myself to buy it. There wasn't much else to be desired. Forgive me for comparing this exhibition to Van Gogh's Immersive exhibition but they had amazing souvenirs as well as a cafe that was inspired by his works. I left with posters, cookies, an umbrella, pens, a cute tote that was reasonably priced and was able to eat lunch & dessert. Despite me not purchasing any souvenirs :( I still had a great time. He was one of the most influential American artists who focused on various issues and life experiences. This exhibit is an impressive experience with over 200 never before and rarely seen paintings, drawing, ephemera and artifacts. I learned so much about his family and the meaning of his artwork. I absolutely loved this experience & I highly recommend this experience! Hurry and go check it out! Jean-michel Basquiat may your legacy continue to live on.

I visited Gateway Project Spaces during the Newark Arts Council's Open Doors Citywide Arts…read moreFestival, which took place from October 19-23, 2016. While I've checked out the gallery here a few times previously, this was my first opportunity to explore the other floors of the space where artists had opened up their studios to the public that weekend. I was aware that there were three floors, but I didn't realize just how expansive the place was (there were a lot of artists' studios to visit). That weekend, it was really fascinating to see pieces from artists in their own personal studios and to talk with them about their work face-to-face. When you entered Gateway Project Spaces, you were greeted and then provided a map to help you navigate around. Everyone who I encountered - whether fellow visitors or artists/people associated with the organization in the hallways - were very friendly and this contributed to the cool vibe of the space. People were open to share and talk. There was a rich diversity among the artists and the media in which they work. Overall, going to Gateway Project Spaces was a wonderful experience. I definitely will visit again next year for Open Doors 2017. I recommend that you do the same.

As my sister is an artist, and one of the featured artists in this particular exhibit, I have had…read morethe privilege of attending many openings, galleries and art exhibits, but none of them hit home as much as this one. This project was done in coordination with the Newark Police and DEA ( being Newark has an overwhelming amount of heroin dealers, users and therefore, resulting in high crime and addiction related deaths. ) This exhibit deals with various phases of addiction. Anybody who has ever overcome an addiction, lost someone due to addiction or has family members who struggle with this or have friends with this problem will relate to this exhibit. The artists, some who are currently in recovery, some who overcame, parents with sons and daughters who are addicts, some young as young as 12 with knowledge of addiction but all with a common theme. The artwork submitted spoke volumes. The powerful images and what each artist had to say about their personal experience with addiction and the havoc it reeks on your mind, body and family could easily bring you to tears if you have experienced the destruction and pain firsthand. Parts of the exhibit were being filmed for a movie on topic called Epidemic H, and epidemic it is. It has hit a all new peak. I would urge everyone to see this show and support the artists and families and police that worked so hard to make this happen.

The show- which is titled "Through My Window: Vibrancy and Serenity" is pretty amazing - most of the big pieces are about 5 feet across and there is one that is at least 20 feet across. The show runs October 13-22, 2011 so I recommend coming by and checking it out!

Located downtown On Wall Street in the financial district, Different rooms had different types of art- the rooms that really piqued my interest were the room with the coloring books, the room which, when you stand in the circle you could basically move and or draw art on the wall. How cool and forward thinking is that? 10/10 The main room downstairs in the basement is very entertaining with story tellings of Monet. I found the love bridge with hanging roses very romantic too. All in all, I would highly recommend this spot for all Art lovers, romantic dates or even a girls night. They're open till 9pm from Thursday's to Saturday's and till 7pm on Sunday's. What an awesome experience, I will be back.

Visual Spectacle, Las Vegas Style…read more Yelp gave me tickets to @monetsgarden exhibit in Wall Street. Designed for the Tiktok generation, the displays were beautiful, interactive and informative. The smaller displays have Instagram filters while the big room is designed to visually surround the viewer in the beautiful palette of Monet's paintings. For a parent wanting a child to get inspired by classic artworks, here's a great starter trip before hitting the real museums. The spaces are almost always bright and white. It's always free. But I really enjoyed Martin Eder's exhibition here. It was sexy, forbidden in a way. LGBTQ. Weird, whimsical (lots of cats and goats interspersed with the sexy bodies and same sex relationships). Also some vignettes of death and mortality. How can you complain about a place that brings you art for free?
