the 1-800 number has POOR customer service. After remaining on hold for hold for 20 minutes for someone to even answer the phone, I was finally able to reset my password for the 6th time. I am locked out frequently (like every month which feels unsettling) and have asked multiple times for them to look into this because i cant sign in to mobile banking. I asked for higher up help she said I had to call back Monday. I had to hang up because they were so frustrating. So here I am without a password reset and I have to go in person now to get anything done. Probably going to switch to another bank, TODAY! read more

This is by far the worst bank I have ever used. The website is so awful. It's full of bugs and really archaic. When you call their customer service line (which is needed often because again, the website is horrible), they often hang up on your or transfer you around multiple times before you actually get someone who will talk to you. Even then, they are NOT helpful. There were times I was on hold for almost an hour being switching around from person to person only to be hung up on. Even the local branch is a nightmare. Even though it was a huge pain, we ended up taking our FIVE business accounts to another bank so we didn't have to deal with Wesbanco. I'm SO happy we did, but I felt compelled to write a review about them to save someone else the hassle of having to do the same. read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. No, I don't have an account here, but my mother and sister do. And from what they've told me, service has gone to Hell in a handbasket since Wesbanco took over from Oak Hill Bank. My own personal experience just left me boggled..... I was in Wal-Mart with my mother, and got $100 cash back on my debit card transaction. The cashier handed me a $100 bill and quickly closed the drawer before I could ask for something smaller. So rather than make a big deal with the cashier, I thought, "Hey, there's a bank! I can just go over there and they can make change." At least, that's what any normal bank would do. But this, I was soon to learn, is not a normal bank. I walked over to "Kendra", who looked as if I was interrupting her day, to ask her if she could please exchange my $100 bill for some $20s. Her question: "Do you have an account here?" Really? Just to make change? I mean, hey....I can understand requiring you to have an account to cash a check or do something that would actually place them at some kind of risk, but just to make change? REALLY????? Well, yes....really. She refused to make change. So, I went over to my mother who was checking out behind me and asked her to get change for me, since she does have an account. Kendra watched me hand over my $100 bill to my mom, then rolled her eyes and sighed, giving us both a less than friendly look, and subjected my mom to multiple ID verifying questions before she would give her the requested change. Finally, stopping just short of a DNA sample, we had our change and were on our way out the door, with my mother complaining the whole way about how bad the customer service has been since the change. So my question, of course, is WHY WOULD YOU CONTINUE TO GIVE THEM YOUR BUSINESS? The answer? "It's too much of a hassle to change." So there you go, Wesbanco.....you're staying in business because people are just too lazy to go elsewhere. Congratulations. read more

This is a horrible bank with zero cares about their customers. I really recommend a different bank. Customer service is very bad. I had wrote a check from my account. Logged in day 1 and there was nothing coming out of my account that day. Logged in day 2 and the check had posted during the night and they had hit me with an overdraft charge. Now typically they post everything in the morning as it updates at night, giving you time to transfer money or see your transactions. This time, nope. I transferred the money as soon as I saw the check and overdraft fees pending. When I called to ask about this, they transferred me to a local branch, who then transferred me to their supervisor. So after explaining this 3 times, I was told pretty rudely that I should be using a registry and this wouldn't happen. It's 2017, who still uses a registry FFS? The supervisor was argumentative, and rude with me saying that based on my account history there was nothing she could do. What does that have to do with anything? Their local branch always has the coin counter full, their debit cards are not raised numbers and made of some cheap plastic (I'm on #3). I'll be switching banks and taking my business elsewhere because these people are just out to hustle you out of your money with the way they post things to your account. I could only imagine the way they would treat you if something happened, like you had your identity stolen. They would probably tell you there's nothing they can do and you need to pay the charges. My family always banked with Wesbanco and so I setup an account when I started college and have used them for the last 5 years so I can base my argument on plenty of time dealing with them. For the first year I don't think I had much problem at all, after that it just went downhill. I've had checks I write not go through even with funds available, I've had checks written to me that cost me money and then went through the next day, I've been charged time and time again probably in the 3-$500 for overdraft protection when I have a secondary account setup with plenty of funds available. I had my card canceled over a unidentified $2 charge and never sent a new one after numerous requests, I've tried to submit checks via mobile deposit and it ends up freezing my account and check in which case I have to wait or go have another payroll check written. The online portal is terrible and never works for ANYTHING. I honestly don't know how Wesbanco is still in business with how they treat their customers. My final straw was when I drained my accounts and turned off all auto payments but one still tried to go through and oh look another overdraft charge $40 for denying a payment. So now I have to pay on both ends! I very happily went to the ATM of my new bank and withdrew the cash to pay off the account and close everything and cease to be a Wesbanco customer because I refuse to be taken advantage of at every corner. I work very hard for my money and Wesbanco getting rich from screwing people is not acceptable. Will never deal with them again and will keep anyone I can from dealing with them as well. read more

This is the worst bank that I have ever dealt with. Their customer service is terrible. They are useless. I call the 1-800 number and they tell you to call the local branch. The local branch tells you to call the 1-800 number. Now there are all these charges on my bank account that I never made and Wesbanco will not reverse the fees. read more
