We took her out on a little ride and she could not wait to get back to her room. She has had a pretty rough 85 days being in and out of hospitals and other rehab facilities that were lower than below the lowest low for facilities. I wish we had found this one the first time around. Dr. Deneen is the epitome of professionalism and he really does care about the residents! He introduced himself within 10 minutes of her being there. He saw her almost every day. Every day. The nurses are AMAZING!! One night I was leaving from my mom's and saw 3 sitting around one of the tables having dinner with a resident. They asked how her day was and what she had done. Ami came in and hugged my mom and sat down beside her and told her how much she was going to miss her. That is what you want to see in a facility you are leaving your loved one in. Beth had to call me to set up a care conference and the first sentence out of her mouth on my voicemail was that this was a non-emergency call. Now that may not seem like much, but when you are on pins and needles because your loved one has been very sick and has ups and downs for months; a phone call from the facility they are in usually is an emergency. She really did not have to say that is my point. However, she did and it was very much appreciated. The whole atmosphere is very homey and calm. They have bright call lights above each room and they have signage that shows that at the nurse's station which room needs assistance. Wild turkeys, deer, beautiful places for family to sit inside and outside. It has been impressive from day 1 and I could go on and on, but I do not have enough room. Our mother was taken care of just like we would have and we felt at ease during the day knowing she was there. They care, truly cared about her and helping her get back on her feet at the highest level they could help her get to. We've sadly taken her to other facilities in the area and were disappointed beyond belief. Not at New Albany Rehab. I hope she NEVER has to need that type of care again, but if she does, she is definitely going there. Thank you very much to: Kristin, Rebekah, Lorraine, Latoya, Kayla, Dr. Deneen, Cheryl, Annalynn, Joe, Liann, Judy, Cathy, Miriam, Ami, Brian (OT), Jeremy, Brandy, Katie, Jasmine, Tammy, and Beth. Each of you made the experience for our mom; Mary-Donna the best she has had during her whole ordeal since January 21, 2019. You treated her like you'd treat your own loved one. No words can express our appreciation for that.

I cannot speak highly enough of this place. My mother who had stable memory loss saw that…read morestability decline when she broke her hip. My husband and I checked out maybe 10-12 facilities in the Columbus Metro Area. All of them were highly regarded but something was always wrong. Some were sterile, some had attractive nuisances like staircases, some were too institution like and seemed like nursing homes of my nightmares. But there was something special about Sunrise of Gahanna. The place is organized in pods with each pod having a full kitchen, dining room and a living room. The residents rooms are off this central area and it gives a nice homey feel to it especially with fresh bowls of fruit. In the very front of the building is an ice cream parlor free to the residents and their visitors. One can also usually find fresh popcorn and soda there as well. You will be welcomed by the big beautiful dog, Oreo and may see Dennis the cat. Both of these animals have a calming effect and provide a joy to those residents who may no longer be able to care for a pet of their own. The food is appetizing and varies. Clearly Chef Travis does not get in the same cooking rut that I often do. There are the usual activities that residents may choose to partake in. Gahanna of Sunrise also is one floor built around a central courtyard with attractive seating and flowers. Some residents find joy in tending those gardens. So your loved one can see the outside and go outside safely. They can also see the change of seasons. But even more impressive are Sunrise of Gahanna's employees. My mother was in the memory unit where residents can get frustrated. At all hours of the day and night I found the caregivers, compassionate knowing each resident's idiosyncracies and finding ways to make their lives meaningful. The facility is small enough that all the employees seem to know the residents and their families. Together we would share a chuckle and at times a tear. I felt my mother was not only well taken care of, but that she was appreciative and loved. For that matter, I also felt appreciated and loved. Mom never needed to go into the lockdown unit but we would go there occasionally to visit with some of her old pod mates. Even the locked unit is homey and welcoming keeping in mind things that the residents like to do. There are baby carriages and baby dolls so that residents both male and female can once again parent. There are dress up gowns and music of the past and these patients who no longer can remember or care for themselves are housed in a place that treats them with dignity and care. When we went back there, the residents were happy and content and it too was set up similar to a home. All of these places have pretty much the same price tag, but Gahanna of Sunrise stands out. Your loved one may not want to be put in a home but this place will provide the care that is needed and still be warm and inviting, not sterile and scary.

If you truly love your family member, do not go here. It seems pretty on the outside, but it's…read moreabout maintaining appearances more than making patients feel cared about and comfortable. Patients feel this is a place they are visiting - not their true home. Also, there is a male staff member on the unit who has begged a female family member to take him home repeatedly. Management did not admonish him. Guess it's ok behavior.

The trusth is, I was so concerned with viaquest Im hoping my review helps someone in the future. Started going to viaquest a year ago for chronic pain. Where to begin. My therapist quit. Had never been to a place where my docotor just left. I made the doctor who perscribes me medicine to promise not to do the same thing, half joking, but he left as well, no notice, just moved to another state without telling his patients. Last docotr did not know my name or care. Most concerning part...twice theyre receptionist called me and left apointment times on my voicemail. Both times, I show up at the doctors office at the times she said (granted my apointments are three months in between, so I assume Ill just take her word for it). Show up at 730 like the voicemail reminded me, but my apointment was at 630. I missed my apointment twice beacuse of this...and the when I brought this up, the receptionist aka office manager (who was perfectly nice), automatically responded by saying "do you just want me to discontinue your services?" Place makes me feel like Im in LALA land, but I dont have this much trouble figuring things out anywhere else...so it must be viaquest. Luckily, I have been waiting to see another physician for months, and see him today. Best to avoid, way too much chaos for someone to be handeling your precious health! Sorry viaquest. You have good intentions, but people dont deserve this.
