Our family would like to formally express our deepest gratitude to Life Enriching Communities at…read moreWesley Ridge, especially the Nursing & Rehabilitation Center at The Robert A. Barnes Center and the Wesley Ridge Hospice team, for the exceptional care provided to our father over the past two and a half years. Placing a loved one into a rehabilitation or nursing facility is never an easy decision. Watching that same loved one gradually decline--and eventually having to make the decision to transition to hospice care--is one of the most difficult journeys a family can walk. Throughout every stage of that journey, Wesley Ridge and The Barnes Center made an incredibly heavy burden easier to carry. I was present in the facility often, which allowed me to witness the care firsthand. I didn't just observe how the staff cared for my father while I was there--I also saw how they treated other residents throughout the building. The compassion, patience, and respect shown were consistent and genuine, regardless of who was watching. As my father's medical needs increased and his dementia progressed, the staff continuously adapted to meet him where he was--physically, emotionally, and personally. Medical testing, daily care, and moments of confusion were handled with professionalism, dignity, and grace. He was never treated as a task, but always as a person. When the time came to transition to hospice care, that change was handled seamlessly. The hospice team worked closely with the facility staff to provide meaningful end-of-life care, addressing not only his physical comfort, but also his emotional, social, and spiritual needs. The level of peace and comfort provided exceeded anything our family could have hoped for. We would also like to recognize the exceptional activities staff, who went above and beyond to bring joy, engagement, and purpose to my father's days. From volleyball, cards, trivia, pool, and cornhole to church services and faith-based activities, they made a genuine effort to keep him active, social, and smiling. Those moments of laughter and connection meant more than words can express and greatly enhanced his quality of life. I would also like to acknowledge the many staff members who are often behind the scenes but are absolutely essential--the dietary staff and cooks who took care in preparing his meals, and the housekeeping and laundry staff who ensured his clothing and personal items were always clean and cared for. Their attention mattered greatly and contributed to his dignity and comfort. What stood out most was the humanity shown every day--kindness, patience, reassurance, laughter, and genuine connection. We are sincerely grateful to all involved--nursing staff, aides, rehabilitation professionals, hospice caregivers, activities staff, dietary services, housekeeping, and support staff. Wesley Ridge and The Robert A. Barnes Center exemplify what compassionate long-term, rehabilitative, and end-of-life care should be.

I was lucky enough to be introduced to Miriam. She was knowledgeable, patient and incredibly helpful when helping me find a place for my parents. My mother was moved into nursing care at a facility to recover from surgery and then almost immediately covid hit. This was unfortunaty nefore we could move my father into the assisted living wing. Because of covid my parents were not able to see each other for months. My father was not doing well without seeing my mom. I decided it wasn't working and we needed to figure our a better place for them. Miriam stepped back in and helped me find an almost brand new care facility that because of its high vacancy rate was able to accomodate my parents seeing each other daily. They have been married almost 50 years and this was a quality of life issue for them. They have been in Smith's Mill for about a year and a half and receive excellent care there. I would 100% recommend Miriam to anyone with elderly parents looking to find them daily help.

If i could leave no stars i would. My mother was here for a month for rehab, they PROMISED me…read morethey would have my mother walking, they never did, she was to have surgery and have nothing to eat after midnight and they fed her at 8am that morning when her surgery was for 11:30am, and when the hospital aked what she ate they said they couldn't remember. This place is so negligent in how they cared for my mother. Her sugar n bp continued to drop after i asked them to please stop the bp meds n feed her a snack later in the night so her sugar wouldnt drop. They didn't and it was low almost every morning. After waiting n hoping they would help my mother they gave up on her and said she should go home on hospice. So here she is at home on hospice and I'm hoping I can get her back to the way she was before she went into this horrible place. I asked them repeatedly to give her an over the cover eye drop called Artificial tears because my mother only has one eye n they refused to do it so her eye wouldn't open. I'm inally getting it back to normal but it will take months. If u think oh no this won't happen to my loved one THINK AGAIN. I said the same thing. I asked for her pain meds over and over again only to be told she's not on pain meds and i said YES SHE IS CHECK THE SYSTEM. After they saw she was on them they still wouldn't send her home with her pain meds. I did manage to get them to call her some in... ONLY 6 pills when she should have came home with 2 weeks worth, by law those are HER pills. Please I beg you to look elsewhere to put ur loved one unless you don't care for them. Don't go here just because it's close like I did. I pray my mother will heal after what they put her through. Please pray for my mother, thank you

He went from reluctant to recently requesting to be the Abbington spokesperson to prospective residents! Dad feels like the entire Abbington staff genuinely cares about him and what he needs -- and we agree. It's as if they've joined our family to help care for him. Artisha and Shaena have been especially patient and understanding, and they're clearly great leaders, which shows in the consistent, happy, hard-working staff around them. Dad raves about the food and has enjoyed getting to know some of the other residents. Abbington Pickerington has been such a blessing to my dad and our entire family. I've tried to call multiple times with no answer. I even left a message and no one returned the call. Plus there were urine stains on the couch cushions. Not a good impression of the facility.
