After…read moreliving in a variety of apartments, I've learned that there will always be things that could be better. Here are my thoughts (keep in mind that I moved out in June of 2015, so things could have changed by now). The good: - Excellent location in Westport - Modern, large apartments - Balconies - In-unit laundry - Pool and (small) gym - Activities planned for residents, such as wine and painting nights - Reliable, quick maintenance, even at night The bad: - Really expensive - Security feels questionable. (There are signs stating that the grounds are patrolled during the evening, but I rarely actually saw the car that did the patrolling). - Receiving packages can be confusing. (Some come to your door, some go to the leasing office, and for others, you receive a key in your mailbox to unlock one of the larger mailboxes to get your package). - We didn't receive all of security deposit back, even though the wear-and-tear on the apartment after two years (a few marks on the carpet, etc.) seemed pretty reasonable. - Parking without paying extra basically isn't an option. Every resident receives a permit to park for free outdoors in the lot, but this lot is largely unmonitored. Therefore, on weekends, the lot fills up with non-residents, forcing residents to finding other parking if they return home after 9:00 PM or so. As a female, I wasn't comfortable walking home from parking on a random street, so I splurged for the $75/month garage parking. It was worth it to have the peace-of-mind, but I felt that the "free parking" was a bit misleading. Additionally, when I began to pay for my garage space, my lot permit was taken away. I don't quite understand how you can take away something that comes free with the lease...? TL;DR: I would say that the perks of City Place outweigh the issues. This is a nice place to live if you're willing to pay for it!

I've been at city place for a little over 2 years now. When I first moved in, I absolutely loved…read moreit. Management, staff and maintenance were all so friendly. You'd walk into the office and everyone would know your name, your life, and actually be invested in you. The leasing office would put on great events for the residents- wine nights, huge pool parties, etc. You truly felt valued as a resident there. It's in a great location and you get a lot of room in your apartments. The past year management has change and it drastically shows. The manager is extremely hard to get ahold of, anytime you go into the office she is hiding in her office and we are told we will have to wait to speak to her. Don't bother emailing or calling her, it won't be responded to at all. Our amenities have gone down, there is no more free printer/ office space for those to work at home. The pool grills do not work and are a huge fire hazard - but don't worry you can use the charcoal grills outside of the pool that the homeless people love to put their trash and cigarettes in. The minimal resident events are pitiful- I think we've had maybe 1 event in the past 6 months. Where are all these amenities they like to brag about? My apartment has flooded multiple times causing MONTHS of not being able to use a bathroom, closet, and living areas due to construction, walls getting torn down, etc. Management was no where to be seen during that entire process, only once I went to willow bridge property management then I got a response out of our new manager. The men working on my apartment actually told me that the office and staff were talking poorly about me. Insane!! While I originally loved my time at City Place- I'm afraid that this new change has been too much for this apartment complex. I think there are way better options for people in the KC area for apartments/housing and would tell others to be very very careful about renting here.
