This is my first home in a new country and all the stress for find a new home in a safe place was so much easy with the help of Rhonda. This is an out right lie. They took over contract of a property that my wife worked for. Instead of telling her they were eliminating her position so she could find another job, they kept quiet and let her work only to find out the day before they officially took over. And the only way she found out is because it slipped from the manager that they were not going to keep her. They are true scum bags and dishonest in what they do. Can I give less than 1 star? I notified the company that I had bats on my front doorstep 3 weeks ago and have gotten nothing but run around from these people! Finally someone came out today and seemed very skeptical of my situation as I had just cleaned up the latest round of droppings this morning. Not 5 minutes after this gentleman left, another dead bat landed on my doorstep. After 2 very angry phone calls to Jim, the president, he finally called me back. The conversation was extremely unproductive and Jim was very condescending. I have no idea when this will get resolved but until it does, I cannot leave my front door without risk of being bitten and contracting rabies. Never mind sending my dog out that way... If you come across a property managed by this group, run the other way. An absolute miserable group of people to work with. *Update* After three weeks of emails back and forth, and two very heated phone calls to Jim Tiehen, the situation has finally been resolved. The only saving grace in this situation has been Kristen, who was very kind and patient. If you ever have the misfortune of having this group provide your maintenance, try to work with her. Don't bother with Kris, or especially Jim, who has no customer service skills at all. I'm happy this has been resolved and I can put this whole miserable experience behind me, however I know that if anything arises in the future, my chances of getting any assistance are slim to none. Relating with Leslie of Tiehen group about my rental property was easy, efficient and professional. It was a beautiful older house and as the case with most older places there were some issues thus only 4 stars, however the company's response to those issues was immediate and accommodating. After some horror story landlords in the past it is refreshing to have had such a seamless experience. read more

My husband and I live in a Leawood subdivision managed by The Tiehen Group. After being abandoned by another company that installed our new HVAC system a few years ago, we checked with some of our neighbors and decided that we would try Tiehen maintenance as they have done such a great job managing Huntington Farms. Turned out to be a great decision. Mike was professional, efficient and described the services he performed on our system. We will definitely use Tiehen moving forward. Why is 1 star the lowest option? There should be a ZERO star option as they have not earned even one star in my book. They manage the Fairway Woods HOA which has the highest per capita dues of any HOA in Johnson County. It's not because Fairway Woods has the nicest amenities or armed guards or marble swimming pools. No, it's because Fairway Woods homeowners pay almost $40,000/year for someone at the Tiehen group to answer the phone and mail out a quarterly newsletter. There's no "management" per se, only a management fee that the Fairway Woods HOA board has blindly leveled on its members for years and will keep on doing it unless homeowners in Fairway Woods wake up and do what was done in Quivira Falls - boot the Tiehen Group out! Surprisingly the Fairway Woods HOA board has not once put the Tiehen Group contract up for bid in the past 15 years, nor has the board ever considered simply doing away with the management group like so many other neighborhoods that run just fine without one. Keeping the Tiehen group is only hurting Fairway Woods homeowners when it comes time to sell their homes. Saddled with the highest per capita dues in Johnson County a home in Fairway Woods is not as attractive as ones in neighboring communities that pay far less. Did I mention who counts the votes for Fairway Woods board members at election time? Why the Tiehen Group of course. Add that to their list of duties, ensuring that Fairway Woods board members continue to tow the party line and keep the status quo. If you are a Fairway Woods homeowner you should get involved, unless you don't care about how your HOA is wasting your money.... read more

Rhonda with the Tiehen Group was very helpful in the move out process. She was responsive and understanding and seems to have a good vision for the property going forward. I was south of the plaza with them since 2011. As landlords go they always were willing to work with me when it came to pets or parking or whatever other inconveniences life might throw in the way. I never experienced any abuse or indifference a lot of other more corporate landlords subject their tenants to. I understand some of the maintenance gripes but I think For the price, location, and personal understanding I would highly recommend renting with them. I certainly would have stayed on but for finding a house. read more

We lived in the peanuts - apartments on Wyandotte in South Plaza. In my opinion, the owner acts like a slumlord. He is unprofessional and rude, and obviously teaches his apartment managers the same mindset. You have a new apartment manager every six months or so, and they wont return your calls until you leave them three regular messages and a few angry ones, and then they basically ask why you are calling to bother them. The maintenance men are morons. Nothing gets fixed unless it's "high priority", as I was told this morning by the owner himself. I've never been spoken to like that before... I was floored when I hung up the phone. The buildings seem like they are basically comprised of rotted out wood and duct tape - painted over to make them look like they are up to code. The apartment buildings themselves were built in the 20s, and were last updated seemingly in the 1980s. Our lease came with a lead based paint warning. The Tiehen Group is out for profit, no matter the cost to their tenants. Choose literally any other person to rent from.. you will not be happy if you rent from the Tiehen Group. read more

I am a property owner (2 condos) at the Brentwood Condo, and I have to think we can find better management, and I can't imagine we would pay more. They are very expensive, do not seem to understand Missouri Condo law, and are not a resource to the board at all. Whatever the board wants to do, M. Tiehen goes along, to get along. Tiehen should be a resource, but for the Brentwood, they are a liability. Several of the staff have been great, and very helpful, but the king has no clothes! I have met two owners who have threatened to sue, and it's inevitable that someone will. Just the thought of having to attend yet another dysfunctional board meeting tomorrow, is not pleasant. The irony is, there are some great people there, but they have been bullied by the leadership and just stay away, while the ship sinks slowly. Ugh! read more

I have lived at University Meadows at 4822 Paseo blvd for 3 years now while I complete a graduate degree at UMKC. The price is excellent for the location. I have been quite impressed by the updates done regularly by management. Rhonda, the property manager, in the office is a pleasure to talk to and she always responds to concerns/requests promptly and professionally. Tiehen has always been great in the past. Called for A/C service recently. Tech came out. He had a day full of appointments and was short on time so didn't get "full service" on A/C. He only checked the freon and it was okay. He left. Was charged for full A/C service. Will not use again! read more

The Tiehen Group has been the management company for our Brentwood Condos where I live since 2006. I am secretary on our Board here and interact with a number of Tiehen employees, especially Mike Tiehen, our property manager, and his assistant.
