I called Wesleys about a new electric motor for my Lortone 12 Qt tumbler...The one I had finally crapped out and froze up so I phoned Wes and he had one in stock and by the way at a favorable price indeed. So I headed to Newport to pick up my new motor an brought the old one with me to compare the new one with. I'm so glad I did that cause Wes took a look at the old one and fiddled with it and then showed me that you can actually oil the motor witch he did and freed up the armature and got it purring like new. We stopped in today to buy some grit and polish. Being new to the hobby of rock tumbling, I had a lot of questions. The woman helping me was full of information and really fun to talk to. She helped me quite a bit. The prices were reasonable, the selection was superb, the shop was clean (most rock shops are dusty from the tumbling process) and the help and advice was excellent. The shop was also easy to locate. I highly recommend Wesley's Trading Post for all of your rock hunting and tumbling needs. My review is quite a contrast from the first one posted here. I have found Wesley's to be helpful, friendly, honest, and they have things I would like to buy. Wesley's is not a pawn shop - the Oregon legislature basically put most pawn shops out of business in 2008 (trying to "help the little man" they ended up hurting him/her. Go read up on it). However, Wesley's will indeed "buy stuff from you" or trade for it, but not "pawn." Wesley's has tools, guns, ammunition, DVD/VHS movies, guitars, some electronics, jewelry, odds & ends, etc. With a down payment you can put a gun on lay-away which is a great service. Wesley's is a fine place and I will continue to do business with them. Matter of fact, about to call and see if they still have a pistol I am interested in. They are convenient to both Highway 20 (to Corvallis) and Highway 101 in Newport. Thank you for reading. read more

Thought I'd comment on the 2/26/2014 review. Contrary to that reviewer, I find Wesley's gun prices to be excellent. His used firearm prices are excellent. And no one should be afraid of buying a "used gun." It's nothing like buying a used car! Also, they now have rock/gemstone tumbling equipment (including the rock polishing grit) and the cool stuff associated with that! read more

I wouldn't go here they like to lie and waste your time plus there prices are way higher than any reputable pawn shop buy sell same thing. UPDATE: 11/29/09 in respond of comments received Well what happen was i called on the phone to sell a ipod that worked fine full charge with 50$ headphones a 3rd gen pink ipod nano 8gb at the time would sell on ebay easy for 50-75$ and i believe i was trying to get 15$ for anyways i was told to bring it in and i asked for certain if they would buy it and from what i understood they would buy it when i got there but that was not what happened and i ended up having to sell some my 360 games that day to the game store there in Newport just to get the 15$ i needed at the time for gas thanks for the reply but i still am sticking with my one star and unfortunately wont be shopping here anymore. read more

Been here multiple times, disappointed every time. The owner seems very uninterested in any young adult customers, if you plan on getting taken seriously don't come here. He seems to hate answering questions about anything and just looks at you like you're stupid. I came here a few times to take a gander at their firearms. Mostly used but he sells them like they are new in the box and at premium prices. Come to find out he has already sold used guns but listed them as brand new. Generally give off a vibe that they don't want you there. Anyone who thinks they list good prices have never been to another gun shop. read more

My Son and I stopped by from out of town to check out what used guns Mr. W had on hand. There was a good selection of used long guns on hand: bolt, lever and semi-auto and allot of them had scopes on them as well. Lots of different used hand guns in the cases on display. Mr. W had an excellent display on his "Me" wall of older weapons. Mr. W provided a little history lesson for me on a older caliber that I did not recognize. Lots of rock polishing gear and equipment, lots of movies-DVD to choose from. The old time safe that he has on display is very cool!!! The store is very clean and orderly if I was a local there would be a few guns on layaway if he has that for an option. Overall Mr. & Mrs. W were very professional and enjoyable to visit with!! read more

I disagree with all the negative comments about this store. I visited today, a rainy Sunday, looking to get advice and hopefully to purchase a rock tumbler/polisher for my expanding beach rock agate collection. Wes was on duty and tirelessly and patiently went through the many options of tumblers, warranties, how to use grit and other helpful hints. He demonstrated how to take the tumbler apart and how to reassemble. He doubles the warranty on the product he sells which happens to be made in Washington State and recommended on-line as one of the top brands. I could not be more pleased with the assistance and knowledge Wes gave me. I highly recommend the store and am so glad it is here locally in Newport saving a long trip into Corvallis. read more

This is a gun shop with some rock materials and lots of DVDs. But it is not a thrift shop. Great selection of what they carry.

My wife and I visited Wesley's Trading Post last year for the purpose of buying a rock tumbler. We got a rock tumbler and so much more. As time permitted between customers, Wes and Patty gave us detailed instructions far beyond the boiler plate text of the owner's manual. They even took the time to evaluate the type of rock we planned to tumble and provided even further information. Everything worked so well we purchased tumbler #2 a couple of months later. This week we stopped in for tumbling supplies and were once again impressed with the service. We had some very large rock we wanted cut to specific sizes. We were in town for just two days. Not only did Wes get the job done, but he worked late to have it ready for us on our way out of town. Friendly and professional. 5 * without hesitation. read more

Finally, a shop with a good selection and supply of reloading powder. Thinks he will get in some H110 in a few weeks and that powder has been tough to find anywhere. He did have some Win 296 which will get me by and many other small and large rifle powders. Very helpful, let me use his personal copy of latest Hornady reloading manual to cross reference the powders to others I have used. Interesting shop, looks like he collects old Winchester rifles. read more
