The name really does not convey what the heck they sell. Something in a marketing course could help. Kept thinking it was some old religious shop. It's not. This place sells all kinds of beads, my achilles heel right there in Yachats. The place sparkles with pretty glass colored beads as well as jewelry and other craft items hanging around. There's all kinds of crystals hanging in the window. Now that I discovered that this is not some sort of place that sells dusty old religious Virgin Mary statues this will be a normal stop for me. read more

I was warmly greeted by Valerie and Lucy (the owner and her pup), and we have a lovely conversation while I look around. Everything is locally handmade, fair trade sourced, or vintage, she tells me. There are many colorful things that catch my eye, but eventually I select a blown glass pen (refillable) and some beads & fused glass. We chatted like old friends while she finished the transaction and packed my purchase. It was 20 minutes past closing when we left, and I didn't realize I'd stayed so long. (Oops.) I'm usually very punctual about leaving, so clearly I was very comfortable. It was such a fun visit that I will definitely stop in on our next trip to Yachats. read more

We visited the store on the very day the previous owner passed. We found just the item we wanted, and when we returned to purchase it the current owner just gave us the bag saying that it had been made by the previous owner who had passed. We thought that was an incredible gesture, and will make the item that much more special to us. Aside from this experience, we found the store charming, fun, varied and loaded with personality and items of all types--surely something to please everyone. I would encourage all who visit Yachats to take the time to stop into Antique Virgin. Once there take the time to look around with care. So many different items including beautiful beads, carved wood creations, glass works, antique dishes, jewelry, and numerous other delightful surprises. If you are in need of a unique gift you will have no problem finding it in this shop. The shop keeper is knowledgeable, helpful and gregarious. She makes the stop worthwhile even if you do not purchase anything.
