Today after work I had to go for a consultation with Dr.Nishimoto because Dr.Wessberg was not available. I ended up extracted my back teeth today because Dr.Nishimoto said he had a cancellation so ask if I wanted to get it done today . I was mentally ready but eventually I have to get it done so I said go for it . Everyone told me that having my wisdom teeth pulled would be painful and horrible. However, after seeing Dr. Wessberg, I believe other wise. He keeps all of his patients awake during the surgery, although they do have options for sedatives. Some people may be turned off by this idea, but it is actually very smart. For one, he wants people to be awake so that in case they feel any pressure that does not feel right, they can say something. I had a friend who was put to sleep during his surgery and the doctor broke his blood vessel. Had he seen Dr. Wessberg and been kept awake, this would not have happened! The process itself took less than twenty minutes and I got to listen to my i-pod the entire time. It was completely pain free and I even got to keep my teeth! I didn't have to take any of the pain medication that was prescribed because I was feeling great! I was able to eat by the next day and I had a large steak for dinner two days later. I am so glad that I made the decision to see Dr. Wessberg for my surgery. read more

Dr.Wessberg and his staff has been amazing to me as I had to remove all 4 of my wisdom teeth. I received a lot of help from their front desk (Especially Helen) , their back of the house staff (Dr.Wessberg, Lynn,Yoshiko, Amy and Arlene). They all explained everything thoroughly and made sure I know what was going on. They made me comfortable and would stop if I felt any discomfort. I really appreciated their patience and time as I took a while to numb up. At the end, I had no chipmunk cheeks! Dr. Wessberg is very gentle in extractions and has a hand of magic. I was referred to Dr. Wessberg by my regular dentist for my surgery to remove four wisdom teeth. Two impacted, two already out of the gums. I was so nervous for this surgery but I had nothing to worry about at all. From start to finish, everything went perfectly and I highly recommend this surgeon to anyone getting wisdom teeth pulled or needing other surgeries! Dr. Wessberg told me that he does not sedate patients for extractions, which surprised me at first because I was so nervous I was fully expecting to go under anesthesia and come out like the David after Dentist kid on Youtube. Instead, he just does local anesthesia that way if any issues occur during surgery, the patient is conscious and can relay any pain or discomfort to the surgeon. Sounds scary, but it is a lot safer. He also said that the surgery is actually quite minor in terms of oral surgeries and to go under like some surgeons do to their patients is usually totally unnecessary and drastic. However, he DOES offer laughing gas, which was not covered by my insurance, but I did opt to get. It just made me feel like I was able to relax better. Once in the room on the date of my surgery, I sat back with the provided IPOD to listen to a CD of my choice (Mariah Carey, Butterfly FYI, was on it- even better!!) and I got a little antsy. Then the laughing gas kicked in and Mariah's voice sang on, and I closed my eyes. About five minutes later and one and half songs into my CD, I was done and asking if I could keep my teeth that weren't broken as souvenirs. For something I was so scared to have done, my oral surgery was not only quick and painless, but it was so comfortable! All of the staff are amazing, from Dr. Wessberg to his assistants in the room helping to the ladies in billing who accepted my payment just a little bit late (oops sorry!). I referred my friend here as well for her wisdom teeth removal and her surgery went great too. Both of us healed up fine (NO chipmunk cheeks!!!) and Dr. Wessberg sent little handwritten notes a week later thanking us for being such great patients. Excellent surgeon and experience! read more

Ugh, it was that time to get my wisdom teeth removed back in High School and of course, it was nothing I was excited about. However, Dr. Wessberg made it as best of an experience as possible and he is beyond great at what he does...my dad is a dentist and he chose to send both his sons to have their wisdom teeth removed from Dr. Wessberg. He really cares for his patients as people. No, it wasn't just because I was the son of a referring dentist - I've had friends see him too and have also observed him work for a couple weeks. His chairside manner is comforting and confident, his staff focused and welcoming. He is located down the street from Punahou and Maryknoll, across from Washington Middle; very convenient location. He also modeled his office to look like a home both inside and outside and in my opinion the strategy does help to make patients feel more at ease. As a fellow dentist I have seen all kinds of extraction techniques. Of course, at the time of my own wisdom teeth removal in high school I had no clue what was going on, feeling completely numb and rocking it with the noise cancelling headphones he lets patients use. But his techniques, to spare details of the nervous, minimize invasiveness and trauma, so much so that I have adapted his techniques in my own practice with much success. Dr. Wessberg's technique in removing my tooth was so gentle. Everything went smoothly and he even wrote a thoughtful note. The staff was very knowledgeable and answered any questions that I had. I was worried about what my insurance was going to cover towards my extraction and the associates working there gave me the exact amount that I was going to pay. I had my bottom wisdom teeth removed in California and it was a HORRIBLE experience, so I was very nervous about having my upper wisdom teeth removed. Dr. Wessberg's office is very inviting, the first time I walked in I thought I was walking into someone's home. It has a very homey atmosphere that just calms you. The operatory room is very clean and I didn't even know they could do surgery in there! They wait until you're laid back in the chair to even bring in the equipment, out of sight out of mind! I am writing a review on behalf of my daughter who was referred to Dr Wessberg for wisdom teeth extraction. Hers are not impacted so I was wondering why we needed to be there at all. My daughter is very anxious when it comes to dental procedures. From the moment you walk in the door you realize that this is a highly professional establishment. The decor is sleek and contemporary and the lights are dim in the waiting area giving it a very calming feel. We were greeted immediately and the consultation was started on time with Tarrin ( not sure of spelling) Dr. Wessberg's assistant. She did X-rays and explained everything very clearly and answered all of our questions. I have never had this much explained to me. I really appreciated all the teaching she gave us. We then met Dr.Wessberg who is just very mellow and just lovely. He told us that he doesn't use sedation and that he takes a lot of time numbing the teeth and titrating to the patient's comfort level. And that taking out the teeth is the fastest part of the whole procedure. He also gave us the news that my daughter's teeth didn't necessarily need to come out right away especially with her anxiety in regards to dental work. Hooray! His office gave us much needed information to make an informed decision. They give compassionate care in a professional manner. Dental Assistances both at prep appointment and day of surgery seemed knowledgeable and answered all our concerns and very personable. Procedure and after care all explained very well. Dr. Wessberg and his staff are beyond amazing. Their attitudes bring such comfort that you be distracted from any worries you may have. I had my wisdom teeth removed by Dr. Wessberg a few years ago. He was recommended to me by my dentist. The process was not that bad, the staff was very friendly there were just some unfortunate things that really could have impacted my health. This is more a message of awareness, so other patients can be more aware and avoid these things happening to them. Make sure the office gives you a packet of gauze and a syringe before you leave! The day after I got my wisdoms out, I called Dr. Wessberg to let him know I was throwing up. He thought it might have been some of medication they prescribed for the healing so he told me to stop taking it, as I was in A LOT of pain and discomfort from not being able to keep down the pain meds. I did that and finally found some relief when the pain meds kicked in. After another day or so (there was no follow up call about my condition), I remembered they told me I was supposed to have a syringe to wash out the wounds. I called to ask about it and the lady said, "it's in the pack you got when you left." I told her I never received a pack or bag with anything. So she asked me how I changed my gauze in my mouth, and I told her I didn't because I never received any to replace it with. She sounded really concerned but just told me to come the next day to get the syringe. Not ensuring the patients had the proper items for their aftercare is a pretty serious oversight had I gotten an infection, etc. I also never received a follow up call after this about how the meds were making me throw up and if I was feeling ok, no apology for the oversight... It was a really expensive procedure and, though I know mistakes happen, it's hard to be the one that experiences the negligence. read more

Getting your wisdom teeth pulled is not fun. However the staff here is excellent very attentive and make sure you feel comfortable and know what you need to get through it. Dr Wessberg is great, very efficient and really pays attention to how you are doing, the man has it down, quick and efficient, all 4 teeth out in less than an hour. Really happy with the service here. I was in a lot of pain and was worried about getting an appointment, but when I called in the morning they squeezed me in for an afternoon appointment. I had an emergency today and needed a bad tooth extracted before leaving on a 22 day trip. After calling about 5 different oral surgeons who were all booked and couldn't take me, I called Dr. George Wessberg's office, she told me to come down right away. They explained the procedure very thoroughly and told me not to worry. I felt no pain during the procedure, he made sure I was quite numb before starting and although I did not have my hds insurance card with me they applied the insurance and I paid my portion gladly. He even told me what he was doing as he was doing it.His staff is very professional yet friendly and make you feel very comfortable considering you are there for not the best circumstances (lol), so if you ever need a tooth extraction I can highly recommend Dr. Wessberg. Today May 9 my daughter returned to you with a worrisome yellow drainage and foul taste in her mouth. You left the damned packing in her mouth and now it's infected.
