We had a bit of an emergency on a late Friday afternoon. Even though his schedule was full and his weekend was literally an hour away, Dr. Nishimoto took us in. He could not have made us feel more comfortable and cared for. He answered all our questions, went to work, and even though he took his time, it was over before we knew it. Dr. Nishimoto I believe his title is an oral surgeon....some kind of specialty dentist! We came to see Dr. Nishimoto because my son had a tooth ache which I thought was due to an infected cavity. (Abscess). His cheek was swollen. We had seen his pediatric dentist at Tooth Buds (whom we also love by the way). Dr. Lauren is not our normal dentist, but she was great. She called Dr. Nishimoto to seek a second opinion in his specialty. They were able to take us the very next morning (my son wasn't in pain, maybe a 2/10). They fit us into their schedule and we were able to get in first thing the next morning. They even let us in the office BEFORE they opened to sign papers and get settled. We didn't wait long at all in the waiting room. Front desk staff were very friendly, office was clean and inviting. But my main point for the review is the CARE we got from Dr. Nishimoto. He is AMAZING with kids!!! OMG you could just tell he LOVES kids. He asked my son questions to determine what was going on. He saw my son for a follow up appt in a few days. For me as a mom, I was very worried because of all the horror stories you hear about infections in the mouth that can lead to DEATH. He was very attentive to my worry and concern. He took the time to explain to me what could be causing the swelling and pain and ruled out what it couldn't be such as mumps! I found our office visit to be very thorough. Turns out his diagnosis of what my son had was correct and my son felt better the next day. If I can remember correctly he had like an infection of his salivary glands and some swollen lymph nodes. Dr. Nishimoto is a fantastic dental surgeon, great bedside manner and very reassuring before the procedure. I needed a wisdom removed urgently and he was able to see me very promptly. Highly recommend seeing Dr. Nishimoto for any surgical needs. Procedure was very fast, expected an hour or two but was surprised with how fast it went following the numbing. In January my dentist found a cavity in my one, and only, undescended wisdom tooth. To avoid a potential infection she advised I have it removed by Dr Rodney Nishimoto, a periodontist and maxillofacial specialist. An initial xray and exam by Dr. Nishimoto took 20 minutes. I was told the extraction cost would  be $1445. This seemed astronomical, but I was under the impression that this would require an extensive procedure. At the second visit I was given a series of simple  novacaines to numb the area... no expensive, extensive or exotic anesthetics. From beginning to end it took less than 15 minutes to remove,  including a tiny plug to the sinus. I was surprised and pleased with how easy it was, but am now questioning why this cost $1445. From google: In Honolulu the cost of extracting a wisdom tooth with partial bony impaction is $300 to $950, average $450.  Dr. Nishimoto is a talented periodontist but is at the highest end of the cost spectrum. If you are cost-conscious, you may wish to mention that to your referring dentist. read more

Beyond blessed for Dr. Rodney Nishimoto! My son was referred to him for his wisdom extractions and from walking into his office to the very end of walking out...the staff was so welcoming and friendly. Dr. Nishimoto looks very young, but don't let that fool you. He is very knowledgeable and explains the procedure and after care instructions in great detail, and in a way that a non-medical experienced person would understand. What spoke volumes to us was his bedside manners. He treated our son like he was his own and made us feel confident and welcomed from start to finish. His dental assistant as well was very warm hearted and patient while waiting for our son to recover from the anesthesia. Even though he was so out of it, talking bubbles, and being flirty‍, she was still so kind and caring. My son's appointment was yesterday, and still hours later, looked like he had nothing done to him. The medicines that were prescribed kept him comfortable and had no swelling. This morning he woke up and still no swelling or bruising. Can't say enough about how great this dental experience was! Dr. Nishimoto and his staff took great care of my daughter, Hana. She had her preop information and surgery all on the same day. She had no pain whatsoever during the procedure. Her pain after the surgery was easily managed over-the-counter painkillers. We had zero problems with bleeding or other surgical complications. I truly appreciate how Dr. Nishimoto was kind and patient. He made sure that my daughter was ready for her procedure and that I was comfortable as a parent. Dr. Rodney Nishimoto and his staff were fantastic, from beginning to end. Our youngest son had a mole in his mouth that was discovered during our nightly teeth brushing sessions. His dentist wasn't too concerned, but because it's fairly rare for any pigment in a child's mouth, he recommended Dr. Nishimoto for a second opinion. We loved the staff the moment we arrived. From the receptionists to the technician to Dr. Nishimoto, we truly felt cared for. Our son was so comfortable that he didn't mind the probing, pictures, numbing injections, and biopsy collection! Wow. What can I say this was an amazing outcome to a difficult morning! Dr. Nishimoto gracefully accepted my husband for a same day oral surgery appointment after a general dentist thought he do it himself and failed. My husband was in pain and out of it when we headed over. The second we walked in to the clinic, I knew he would be taken care of. From the cleanliness of the office to the respectful, kind and caring staff, I knew he was in good hands. He ended up needing to be put under and Dr. Nishimoto took care of him quickly and efficiently. He gave me an update as soon as he was finished and said to call him personally if we have any issues. From entering the office to leaving, Dr. Nishimoto and staff are quite simply, THE BEST ORAL SURGEON OFFICE in Honolulu. A warm and friendly greeting when you first walk in. The staff explains in detail what is going on and what to expect after the surgery. Dr. Nishimoto is younger than I expected, but his way of speaking to you is very reassuring. He goes into detail what he is going to do and does everything he can to make you feel comfortable. The procedure went off without a hitch. Most of us probably feeling uncomfortable going to have a tooth extracted but there was NO PAIN. It was done before I knew it. Whole procedure took less than 30 minutes. I experienced the worst root canal infection. After seeing a dentist at 0900, an endodontist 1100, and lastly, Dr. Rodney Nishimoto at 1300 on the same day, without wasting any time, he had me on the chair, applied a numbing injection, to relieve my pain. He successfully resolved my infected tooth by suggesting an extraction for the cracked root canal, a bone graph, and an implant (in the future), which was the right decision for me! Dr. Nishimoto and his team are simply the best. I broke my face surfing and no other doctors I called were able, or willing, to perform the trauma surgery required to fix the dent in my face. I was running out of doctors to call, and was considering looking for a doctor in California, when I called Dr. Nishimoto's office. His front office staff were so empathetic and kind, they found a way to squeeze me into his schedule the next day. Dr. Nishimoto was sympathetic, super knowledgable and happy to perform the surgery. My face was fixed within a week, and you can't tell I ever had a big dent in my face. The office is very nice, with plenty of parking right outside. The entire team is friendly and attentive. I initially went to Ala Moana Dental Car to remove my wisdom tooth that was bothering me. I don't normally go there but they were the only place that answered my call 7 in the morning and will accept the day of. After 30 mins of pulling, yanking and enduring so much pressure, the dentist told me I needed to go to an oral surgeon. I was in so much pain and dizzy due to the procedure. Got a hold of Dr. Nishimoto and he was able to get me in right away. When I got there, I couldn't have felt more comfortable. The environment was calming, staff was so nice and Dr. Nishimoto was the best. He made me feel comfortable, explained everything and you could tell he was an all around good guy. I had oral surgery to have a tooth extracted along with a bone graft in April 2022. I was very nervous as I have long roots with a curve at the end of my tooth which gives resistance to coming out! Rodney Nishimoto and his assistant Lynn were so very kind and helped me relax.They made sure I was okay every step of the way and all went well due to their expertise. I rate this entire office the highest rating I can give. This office cares about special needs kids. They aren't afraid of 120 pound autistic little girls that need extractions. They stayed late, after hours to help my non verbal child. She's now so happy because she's pain free. No one informed me that one out of three root canal's go bad. Other dentists just want your money, but this office, from the front desk reception to the X-ray tech, to the nurses that were cleaning up my child's throw up from a easy gag reflex, not one person complained. I sleep better at night knowing I don't have to fly to LA anymore to get sedation dentistry. My daughter doesn't make the weird faces and funny noise from her teeth hurting. Truly AMAZING DR RODNEY NISHIMOTO!! PERIOD!!! I was referred my dentist to go to see Dr Nishmoto I had a temporary in the front could see when I smile & it kept falling out in April 2023... He sat down to talked to me first explained everything what he was going to do for me.. Meanwhile I told him I'm leaving on a trip to Korea & Japan this month May 2023 so he advised me to wait till I come back from my trip he wanted me to enjoy everything all the food! He so AWESOME!! There was a incident with my temporary fell out on a Sunday & I had a big GALA to go to that evening... I called Dr N & he told me come to his office on a Sunday!!! He glued it back on for me! He so nice!! Then he made a plan for my implant to do before my trip so I don't have to worry about the temporary falling out while I'm up there! He's so BRILLIANT!!! EVERYTHING is all done now BEAUTIFUL I can SMILE with so much CONFIDENCE NOW!! He's so KNOWLEDGEABLE YOUNG He has a good !!!! He'll work with you from beginning to end!!!
