Even though I wish I could recommend this daycare because I believe some of the teachers are really…read moregreat at what they do, I wouldn't recommend anyone taking their child here. We encountered issues and when we addressed them with the director, we were given excuse after excuse and things continued to deteriorate. Then, a new child in our child's class started biting other children including our daughter, and sometimes it happened every day. The director's way of handling the situation was to 'continue to train the staff and monitor the child more closely.' Needless to say, the behavior continued and then they started removing the child who was being bitten (not the child who was actually biting other children) and taking them to a younger classroom so they had to miss out on the activities happening in their class. We finally had to remove our daughter from this center when it became clear that nothing was going to be done to protect the children being victimized by another child who had displayed a clear pattern of behavior that needed to be handled in a more deliberate fashion but went largely ignored. Another child who was being victimized was also removed from the center about the same time as our daughter by her parents because they were met with the same response from the director. Our daughter was also constantly sick, which may be a given when a bunch of children are together all day. However, it resulted in her having to have surgery and she was STILL sick all the time afterwards. Now that she is no longer attending this center, she no longer struggles with being sick constantly. And, of course, when we addressed this concern with the director, we were met with excuses. The main root of the problem at this center is that the director is incapable, or simply unwilling, of actually solving problems, and instead resorts to blaming the staff and making excuses to placate the parents. The teaching staff did everything they could to help us with this situation but their hands were tied since the director wouldn't do anything about it. The turnover rate at this center is ridiculously high, and is reportedly due to the director making it a hostile workplace that teachers don't want to work in. There are also reports of infestations of mice and cockroaches in the buildings.

There is no better environment in the KC area for a kid to grow and learn! :) I can't imagine a better school! Little Sprouts is led with love and a vision for whole-child care through and through. Natalie, the owner, has been the best employer I have ever worked for- kind, flexible, accommodating, and a great leader who has extensively trained for Montessori education as well as behavior management and nonviolent communication. I learn from her daily and feel like I am part of loving community at our school. All of the parents are collaborators with us teachers in the care and education of their precious children. I love each child as if they are my own. My position is unique as both a parent and a teacher, and for that I am blessed. I can't thank Natalie, and my coteachers enough for the precious and inspiring time my daughter and I have had at Little Sprouts these past two years. The staff are held to a high standard and kept accountable for their performance. Recently, I was most impressed by feedback I got about how they are willing to help my daughter learn -- they are more than willing to explain why "no" is being said so that she is informed. We Love Phoenix Montessori!! My oldest son attended for his pre-K and kindergarten year. He is now…read moregoing in to 3rd grade. I can't keep enough books in the house for him to read. I believe his love of reading started early because of Phoenix Montessori and their way for building confidence in young readers! His math skills are also strong because of the early foundation of skills he learned there. This year my middle child will be returning for her second year (kindergarten year) and my youngest will start his pre-year ! I can't wait to see what this year will bring! Besides the educational benefits, we have made life long friends with parents and students. We drive 20 min to get to school because it is so worth it!

We have enrolled my youngest in 1st grade for next year. In addition, when my older daughter started having issues with the her public school 2nd grade teacher we were able to move her over for the rest of the year. She is thriving and has already started working on division. We are keeping her enrolled for 3rd at Phoenix also. Mrs. Fernandez runs the elementary program and is an amazing, caring teacher and I feel so luckly that my girls can have such a superior experience.
