A fun road trip to visit one of Ontario's best Cider Houses (Cidery) with a trip to West Avenue Cider - after spotting one of their artesian Ciders at a local pub. West Avenue offers inexpensive tasting flights with over 10 varieties available to sample today. We also had a chance to enjoy a delicious plate of local cheeses and preserves. The property, which opened just last summer, has a great atmosphere, large tasting bar with super friendly staff, picnic tables to enjoy your tasting outdoors, a bakery, and great cider. Open seven days a week over the late spring and summer, and weekends the remainder of the year makes this a Cidery well worth the drive. Oh and those with four legged friends, they are dog friendly :-) and even had their four legged hostess that was super friendly. The biggest challenge today what to bring home? #craftcider #ontario #gtafood #niagara #tasting #platter #tothewource #foodporn #foodie #food #cider #ontcider #ontariocider

My friend hosted her movie premiere party here a few months ago for the Hamilton Fringe Festival and we had an absolute ball!! Hammerheads Fresh on Locke were on hand offering the most delicious poke bowls ever, paired with drinks and a movie it was an ideal experience. The service was super friendly all night and the guests had a great time indoors and outdoors. I've seen they have had several food guests from local restaurants which has been cool to see - and they are starting to extend their hours and are open till 8 or 9pm some nights. Check out their Instagram for the latest news. Love this new cidery that's bikeable from Locke Street and the surrounding neighborhoods. They have cans to go, cute swag, and ample car and bike parking space.

They have an outdoor patio AND indoor taproom with high ceiling, old school video games. Vibe is very laid-back, don't expect someone to come to your picnic table to take your order! You may hafta open your own patio umbrella, go in and order your own drinks. 12oz pours are $7.50, BUT...you can get 3 smaller samples for the same price. This isn't on the menu, I had to ask. It's in a very industrial area and somewhat hidden in a white building, on a side street. They do have some specific rules like minimum purchase is 4 cans and their hours of operation are quite limited. They seem to be only open 3 days/week 'til 6pm. Other than selling bags of chips, they don't serve food, so just come thirsty!

They also have a small supermarket in there that serves products that they make out of the apples and other things that they grow on the farm but you can also buy some local goods there as well and you can view the pizzas being made in the stone oven. They offer a group tours twice a day, it's best that you book ahead. I took the tour.. the place is quite small I don't know if I necessarily would do the tour again I don't know if it really did that much enhancement to my experience. But the tour does come with three samples and you get a $5 voucher towards the restaurant if you choose to dine at the restaurant They have different options that you can try, cider flights both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. I chose alcohol and every single cider that I tried including the ones on the tour I absolutely love, they have a lower sugar content than traditional ciders that you buy at the LCBO which gives them a lighter refreshing feel. For their regular flavors I thought the draught cider was the best. And for the seasonal they had a sangria cider that was absolutely refreshing as well I tried the cambert cheese I believe.. it was that came with their gooseberry jelly oh my goodness that jelly was absolutely delicious and they do sell it in the market. I also tried their pizza and I thought the pizza was absolutely delicious I got the large which is a shareable I also noted that the staff seemed genuinely happy from the servers to the hostess to the tour guide. In 2025 a lot of places you go it feels like people do not want to be at their place of work so that was nice to experience.

Ordered the Anna Rosaria for $13 roughly and it was a tad underwhelming in flavour however the sourdough bread and ingredients were fresh. I ended up buying the Giovanna for the road since I live quite far away and I wouldn't make this drive very often. That one was way better with the spicier sauce and hot supressata. The flavour was explosive and compared to Anna rosaria had a kick. Overall I'd give it 8/10 stars just for the quality of food.

The chiller inside near the counter also has a lot of unique beers and ciders you wouldn't typically find available elsewhere. I got a red sour beer, which was surprisingly expensive. It set me back $11.99. The ciders my companions got were more affordable at around the $4 or $5 range. Paying for it, however, took too long. The machine taking payments seemed to be acting up, and waiting took an unacceptable amount of time. There are not a lot of different food options available. One should come to expect that as the place looks like it was intended to be a sandwich shop. I do wish that they at least have more sides available. The Ribeye Steak deluxe sandwich $18.99 I got was good. The bread was a little too crunchy and burnt than what I was used to, but I would just like to think that it is how an authentic Italian sandwich should be prepared.

It was all delicious! My friends had the Double Smashed Burger, Bison Mac Pizza, Jerk Chicken Pizza, and Beef Tip Rigatoni. I had the Butter Chicken. Everything was really good, with generous portions that resulted in a couple of takeout containers. Beverages included a flight of beer, ciders, and more, all brewed on site. Refreshing. Following our delicious meal, we were treated to a sampling of smoked meats and sides from their smokehouse trailer. As full as we were, we really enjoyed this. It was all good! If you're unfamiliar with Slabtown, you'll have to check them out. They have a huge patio, with covered areas in case of poor weather, wide open spaces, excellent food, ciders and beer made on site, and just a really nice vibe.

I met up with friends at Slabtown Cider last Saturday to celebrate our birthdays. We were a group of six. We made a reservation, which put our minds at ease. There was apparently a two-hour dining limit. We stayed longer, so it's more of a guideline. I have been to downtown Uxbridge. This eatery is in the middle of nowhere, but it's so beautiful when you arrive. There's lots of greenery. The open air was nice. There are apple orchards. It's a charming place. We had a 4:30 pm reservation. I got here at around 4:15 pm. Most parking spots were taken in the main area. Luckily, there was extra parking further back. I managed to find a decent parking spot and backed into it. Mosquitoes love me. I put on my NATPAK patches to ward them off. I love them so much because they work. I reckon that we were here for three hours. I escaped without a single bite. Yay! Two of my friends were out in the patio area. I went to join them. There was a wedding party outdoors. The only downside was having a female staffer tell me that this area was for a private event and I had to go around. As someone who was trying to figure things out for the first time, it was helpful. However, it was her tone that had a tinge of annoyance that I didn't appreciate. It was my first time figuring out where everything was. Cut me some slack. They were in front of the barbeque area. It smelled so good. We relaxed a bit and chatted before we headed to our table that was outside, but under a canopy. The rest of my friends filed in. Two of them have been here a bunch of times. One of them suggested that I take a look at the brewery. It was cool seeing it. We were led to our table. It was spacious and comfortable. We got menus. There was live music. Our table ordered these items (my items have a * after them): Drinks: - Raspberry tea * - Pineapple mimosa - Honey habanero - Beer flight: - Mexican - Blonde ale - Hazy IPA - Scottish ale Mains: - Beef tip rigatoni * - Butter chicken - Double smashed burger with fries - Bison mac pizza - Jerk chicken pizza (2) We got water to start. It was cold and refreshing. My raspberry tea came out next. It's a hard cider where tart raspberries meet earl grey tea. It was fabulous. It was slightly sweet, which was perfect on a warm summery evening. The beef tip rigatoni was excellent. The beef tips were tender and seared nicely. The rigatoni was al dente and fun to eat. It had mixed mushrooms, which I adored. The broth was mushrooms. I could taste roasted garlic. It was divine. The fries are yummy here. Everyone loved their food. The chefs knew one of my friends. They were kind to come out and wish us a happy birthday. They were so generous to offer barbequed proteins with sides to celebrate our special month. I was stuffed. I didn't know if I could shovel more food in me. Luckily, it did take some time to prepare our goodies, so it helped with my digestion. We got an assortment of ribs, brisket, and tender meat on sticks. I didn't know what meat was on the stick, but it was delicious and so easy to enjoy. The ribs had the best barbeque sauce. The rib that I devoured was tender, tangy, and yummy. The only downside to this assortment was the brisket. It was dry and we didn't have any drinks with us. I actually had to rely on eating the ribs with the barbeque sauce with the brisket. We got cornbread, corn salad, and mac and cheese as sides. All three were solid. You could see the corn kernels and carrot in the cornbread. It was yummy and so fluffy. I loved it. The corn salad was excellent. It was like eating elote, but without the corn on the cob. I loved the mac and cheese. The elbow macaroni was perfect, as was the cheese sauce. I used the washroom between our dinner and barbeque. The women's washroom has three stalls. The woman in front of me didn't realize that the middle stall was available. She waited for her friend to come out of the stall on the right. I used the middle stall. Clean. Spacious. No issues. We waddled over to the apple orchard to take photos. A friend gifted me a Grogu plushie. We went to town taking photos of Grogu with food and apples. It was a memorable, wonderful time with friends, good eats and drinks, in a picturesque setting. I'd come back again for more yumminess. (322)
